Wow, shooting for the stars, huh?
yep. That's me. Not many other ambitions, other than maybe starting a cult...
If you're gonna start a cult, make your idol someone really funny.

I think vampires are funny when they're dreaming about Bruce Willis - Willis
but I basically don't plan to have an idol. we'll just follow a bunch or rules and call it a day

nope. More like some other kind of socialogical system, mostly unlike the ones out there now
I call it a cult because ultimately, very few people would agree with how I think...

School seems, more or less to me, then the gathering of the young at the city square and being taught skills to survive from the elders of our tribe. At least, that what it WAS. Now, it's been beaten down to some state where if one doesn't learn a shit load of trivial knowledge that has nothing do to with anything, you fail at life.
In conjunction to the first post, I would leave school no doubt, in a heartbeat even, if there was some other place where I would've met the people I hold deep in my heart and call friends.
that isn't the internet XD

School sucks, plain and simple. The way it is traditonally organized is DREADFUL, but everyone's too stuck in the "well that's just how it is" mindset to try and change it.
Think about it. If an alien came here and you tried to describe school to it like this, what would it think?
"School is a place where most Earth children go for 7 hours a day to sit and learn things they don't care about and will probably never use again. At school they are prevented by this "learning" from doing a host of other, more productive activities."
The alien would think our planet was full of dumbasses, AND WOULDN'T GIVE US THE SECRET TO IMMORTALITY.
But srsrly tho, it's just awful. As a second semester twelth grade student, I'm ready to get the hell out of that awful place. I know that most people consider seniors as more mature, which makes them quieter or sumshit, but in my case it's different. I'm not "more mature" or anything. I've always been quiet, but now I'm jaded AND quiet. I'M 18 FUCKING YEARS OLD. I'M TOO YOUNG TO BE "JADED."
This is what school has done to me. The long hours of studying math just to get a 69 on the test due to teacher error, the stubborn and ungrateful school administration, the absolutely HORRID personalities of the majority of my fellow students....they've all made me very cynical about education. I think the way education is carried out in most countries, particularly the US (too shitty) and Japan (too hard), is terrible and in DIRE need of re-thinking.
Some people argue school is necessary to becoming a well-rounded individual. Well, here I sit before you, well-rounded due only to sources outside of shcool, such as my parents. It's entirely possible to not go to school and earn a healthy living, so why can't we re-structure the school system to better suit everyone's needs? The old form of education has grown ineffective and stale.
Yes, I've been thinking about all this for a while.
God, I can't wait for college, where you're treated like a PERSON. Did you know that the Constitution does not legally apply to students? As long as we're in school, they can suspend all of our rights, if they want. They often suspend at least a few. I'm obviously sentient, so why do I not get the same rights as others? I'm 18, so I'm no minor, but being in school is what disallows me the basic freedoms that this country was built upon.
Why is a social institution that relies so heavily on denial of the basic freedoms that were planned during the founding of America regarded as a good thing by so many people? it just doesn't make sense.
I'm done now, because I have to go to fucking school. D:
QFT.
Victor for president.
I agree with everything you say man.
Yes, some drop out. Maybe that is to drastic. Hey, maybe they made the right choice though? Maybe they are following what they want to do. What if the only reason more and more dropouts don't succeed is because we dont LET them succeed. What if we are holding them back from careers, and opportunities, by requiring a peice of paper saying you stuck in a shitty school. To me, people do this just to make the rest of us do it because they had to. Look at the burger industry. High school diploma required now. Do you need to know half the shit you do when you go there to flip burgers or give exact change or take inventory? No.
NOW. If you are planning to be like, nuclear chemist or some shit, then yeah, maybe you should finish school. Though like victor said. US schools are shit. I doubt they will get you anywhere. Its up to you to do the research and up to you to learn and all that shit.
I had a very big family issue recently that has impaired my education to the point of me staying home for a very long time in a fit of worthlessness. I hate my school. I hate the kids that go to my school. They all suck. Most of the teachers to.
Get this. My math teacher left first week of school. I had a sub that didn't know how to teach math teaching us math for a few weeks. Then another teacher came in and we were so fucked up at that point, they didn't know where to start. After that, she left and we got a permanent teacher. We pretty much bombed our PSSA's. I don't know about your guy's school and stuff, but the education supplied in my region blows anyways.
I have to finish the rest of this year knowing good and well I have credit denial and then I go back next year to finish off "School". It's my choice. Only because you can't go nowhere in life with that peice of paper known as a HS Diploma.

For me, before going to college, my motivation to get up for school for the amount of hours everyday was to see everyone I knew. Plain and simple, for I didn't see many people over vacations and breaks and such.

I find my subjects interesting and challenging. The only class I would skip would be math, because it is boring and impossible >.<.
