Well, most people already said whatever I was thinking about this and more so, I'll keep it brief: For me, it would never work. there something to be said about being able to look at the person, into their eyes and here the words come out of their mouths and know that they are actually there. In times of need, words can only get so far, emotions are shared conveyed over the internet, when you actually see the person there meaning what they say, it helps that much more. Granted, people can put on a show in real life just as easily over the internet. But then again, it's very easy to misinterpret just the words of another, like mistaking a joke or indifference for an insult or someone who doesn't really caring. |

From what I've seen, there is a possibility of it working out, but the chances are a lot lower than a local relationship. First off, the psychology is different, at least from what I've seen and experienced. In a local relationship there is no mental mistake on who you're talking to, the person is right in front of you speaking and reacting, while only talking over a chat program can give one the mentality of it being like an H game, that it's just a program which will let them feel MUCH more open than if they had been talking face to face. Second is the fact that it is extremely easy to misinterpret things without the aid of vocal infliction or facial expressions. Sarcasm is lost in lifeless text so outside of calling them your on your own on knowing whether or not they were annoyed/depressed/sarcastic/etc. Though this isn't a problem if you're really serious and regularly call each other. Third is the ever popular fact that unless you have met or talked IRL, you have no idea who the hell they are, the sick people of this world know how AIM works too. This has happened to two of my friends and has failed both times, the first was told that the online friend had thought it was just a game and therefore stopped talking to him, and my other friend... well, that WHOLE thing was severely screwed up and was screwing him up and I'm glad that he is over it. |

It doesn't work. 'Nuff said. You have to KNOW the person, and if you've never met the person, then you don't truly know them. Anyone can act the way they act on the internet. You can't really get to know a person until you spend time with them. |

Only if you meet in real life. 'Cuz what the hell are you gonna do? Get married over the internet? If it's not serious and just kinda for fun, it's okay to never meet each other. But serious online dating is just weird to me. |

Ya srsly. Like.. The whole raine x mero thing was just a jokingly friendly dealy. It wasn't super serious lulz. I agree though. You have to meet the person to actually have a relationship with them. |
