Here's wikipedia's basic definition of hope:

Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life.

So, "where does hope come from?" (assuming it doesn't come from Pandora's Box)

and..."What keeps hope alive inside people?"

Hope is something we cling on too. We think things should happen as it should but we really want things to happen as we want them to. I believe the saying; without hope, there is nothing left emotionally.

Hope is inside everyone. It can start off as a simple goal like say a diet. One hopes that this diet will make one healthier or skinnier or whatever. It makes us feel that it's going to be worth it in the end. That's it's all for nothing.

Where does Hope come from? Our hearts, if I want to get philosophical.

Hope is wanting a situation you have no control over to end the way you want it. If you say something like "I hope this diet works out for me" then you're admitting that the outcome is completely out of your hands.

"Hope" is a word that, for the longest time, made me think of cream of wheat.

I read a book where one of the characters stated, "Hope is the denial of reality." While a rather dark way to put it, that's essentially what it is: hoping against what the current situation is in favor of something else.

Hope has no meaning other than that you cannot change what is going on and you want something good to happen so that the impending doom will leave.
