Impossibility; Absolute or Relative?

When thinking of things that are impossible, outrageous things often come to mind. When trying to explain why something is impossible, it is usually because it violates common sense (e.g. time travel due to the Grandfather Paradox). But can something truly be impossible? Could things that we perceive as impossible now actually occur sometime in the future? Remember that people used to think that the atomic bomb and landing on the moon were impossible. Share your thoughts.

Gurren Lagann is proof that anything is possible if you just KICK REASON TO THE CURB, etc.

Impossible means something can never happen. And since time has not ended yet, we cannot know if anything with never happen.

"Absolute" and "Impossible" are contradictory to the ideas they perceive. In the long run, we can't fully know what anything is.

What I'm trying to say is that when you imagine something as impossible, do you mean it in the sense that it can never be accomplished or that it is possible, but we don't have the means to achieve it.

Example:

Time Travel.

In other words, agnosticism. The entire thinking has value, but doesn't go anywhere, doesn't give an answer or do much to facilitate its existance. Its basically a dead end.

Absolute. Try slamming a revolving door.

But slam is just a verb with many different meanings. Change it around a bit and you could very well slam it.

In your case, the revolving door is "slamming" into dozens of air particles, which really aren't strong enough to hold their own again the door!

Put a large object between the doors and slam the revolving door into it. You have now slammed a revolving door.

You people are far too literal. In the context of "slamming" referring to "doors", there are no obstructions (except the door jam, but that's what the door slams into) and if I'm correct there is no slamming air particles.

Thinking on that base, it is impossible to slam a door.

(I'm sure someone's going to say some kind of smartass comment...)

What we tried to say to you was that anything is possible, as long as you find a clever way to work around the so called 'impossible' aspect.

Can't defy the law of gravity? Oh yes we can. We built airplanes.

Absolute: People die when they are killed.

Perhaps that was misunderstood:

I was talking about the fact that there is no such thing as even a remote possibility of immortality.
