I thought it would be nice to have a thread similar to the game progress thread, only about our progress in our current customizing projects. So whatever project you're working on, let us know! Currently, I'm thinking about what I'm going to change with the Gundam model I got last week. I also have a figure that I could use as a base for another member of Aimbot's platoon, and I'm currently designing his costume/creating the character's background (I'm thinking the heavy machine gunner...). I'm also thinking about making an Ash from Evil Dead figure out of a Stikfas firefighter, the yellow figure with the red chainsaw. Groovy. |

Damn, you keep yourself busy! Are you sure that Heavy Duty (he should have been name Roadblock, damn it!) would make a good Mace? Besides being a big black bad mothereffa there isn't much of a visual relation between them. Mace isn't really that buff. Unless if I misunderstood what you have in mind, but either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what you'll end up with. I was going to make a custom Sigma Six Duke. Duke Nukem, that is. Paint the glasses black, shirt red, some detail on the legs, and that's pretty much it. Plus he comes with the badass pistols, SMG (which can be modded into the Chaingun cannon) and the rocket launcher can become the RPG. Come get some! But I really don't want to spend $25 on a figure to be used as a base of a mod, especially since I'm spending about $20 tomorrow on pieces for my Ash custom. I'll be getting the blue Classic Alpha Male to be used as the body as well as the Alpha Male Firefighter redeco, mainly for the red chainsaw (which is made of two pieces, so instead of attaching its handle, I'll slip it onto a wrist socket!) and for an extra body. I'll use the leftover pieces from Ash and the Firefighter to make, most likely, a blue man in a yellow flak jacket. Stikfas RULE!! (for more information, visit Stikfas.com and take a look at my review of the Mobster figure) |

Well, they didn't have any blue Alpha Males, so I just got the Firefighter with a tan/beige/white man's skin Alpha Male. I painted on the torn shirt, hair, shoes detail on chainsaw, made him some pants and belts, a custom Lego boomstick, etc. Ash is now complete! I'll get the pictures up soon, with a little luck. |

I got another AndrAIa from ReBoot (sexy Season 3 version) who I will turn into the sniper for Aimbot's unit. I'm thinking of painting her shoes and hair a nice crimson, and giving her a similar costume as Aimbot: brown pants, white shirt (cut off, of course), and a black leather jacket. Kick ass. |

I've only tried my hand at a few customs, none of which turned out particularly well. My first was a Death's Head. I took an Art of Spawn figure, removed the rubber cape, and then painted the body green and yellow. I left the boots and gauntlets intact, and then I painted the hands silver. Then I sculpted the face with putty, filling in the mouth and creating the mouth grill and horns. After it dried, I painted it. Then I added the cape back to the figure. So he's not the best custom, and he's ass-ugly, but I like it. My second custom was a fan-made Beast Wars character from a fanfiction that I wrote. Valkyrie is a female Maximal who turns into a phoenix, so I got an Airazor figure and painted the yellow parts gold and the brown parts bright red. I also painted the feathers gold. I also added a small mouth. The paint is a little thin is some spots, but she still transforms. My third custom I'm hesitant to bring up. I had been lurking on eBay, trying to find an original Beast Wars Dinobot. I finally got it, opened him up, and immediately decided he needed a mouth. Out came the paint. . . . I royally botched it up, and ended up throwing the figure out in disgust. I then bought the 10th Anniversary version and did no further modding other than removing the second "helmet." |

Don't give up, Ravage. We all cock up stuff up sometimes. Keep on trying, buddy! Right now I'm contemplating hacking a Super Mario Bros NES rom. My last try, Super Autobot Leaders, didn't come out so well. This time, I'm thinking 'Super Counter-Strike Bros.' It might be good for a laugh! Here's what I'm thinking for the sprite list, so far: Little Mario/Luigi: CTs, crouching Mushroom: Knife Super Mario/Luigi: CT, standing Fireflower: HE grenades Coins: Dollar signs Starman: I don't know, 'H4X!' maybe. A Shield wouldn't really work because you can't run into dudes when you have it. Enemies: various Terrorists. Crouching, standing, jumping with knives, swimming, camping and launching missiles, etc. Just an idea... |

Well, it's not a custom per se, but since I am on Christmas vacation, I'm going to work on my largest toy-related project yet: I'm going to try to make a stop motion film using Stikfas. I'm thinking something simple to start with, walking most likely. Eventually, I want to have some gunfights, swordplay, and a motorcycle chase. |

UPDATE: Well, I finished my Ash from Evil Dead II custom and that stop-motion movie, but I didn't do any work on Aimbot's unit, the Thirteen Thirty-Seventh Combat Unit. So after I got a Spider-Man Origins Secret Wars Spider-Man, I promptly got a second one and customized the first into Wallhack, the 1337th CU Infiltration guy. He's almost done, I'll just have to give him some goggles and I'll post pics later. |

Well, "Bad Mother Truckers" is coming along well, but last night I started a new, more traditional custom. I'm converting my Energon Wheeljack into Classics Wheeljack. So far, his car front becomes his legs, he has his shoulder cannon (well one of them anyway) and the car doors end up on his back. I'm painting the insides silver so that they'll look like his old-school wings! Right now, the black paint on his legs and rear window is drying. |

...anyone here? I guess it's only me... Anyway, my Classics Wheeljack is coming along nicely. Today I painted his wings, rims, and weapons. I'll have to wait for them to dry to go give them another coat. I started a new project with some of the extra Stikfas pieces I've amassed since I started collecting them almost a year ago - I'm building a large warrior robot. I'm painting him a nice gunmetal grey, and he's going to look good when completed. I'm not sure what kind of detail I want to give him, but I'll have to figure it out. As for "Bad Mother Truckers," I've completed the first 2 Acts, and I only have 1 more to finish. You can watch them by clicking on these links: ACT 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTXqs8tv0DY ACT 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w95Hr7MYiRM |

I just thought of this thread today while finishing up my movie voyager Ironhide paint touch-up. This thread can help us keep track of the customs we're working on. A long time ago, I decided to touch up/add some paint apps to the Voyager Ironhide figure. I'm going to be using him in Bad Mother Truckers 2 as Conrad, the Mayor of the city and an old war buddy of Peter Built (Classics Prime). I added detail to mainly the truck mode (rims, lights, smokestacks, etc) but the robot mode as well (metallic blue detail on the arms, hands, gold knuckles, silver/gunmetal detail on the head). I also painted the weapons (base coat of black, gunmetal on top of that for a weathered look, some silver in places for detail). Pictures will be up later if you're interested. |

You and me both, bro. I went with that shade of orange for a few reasons: a) it's more accurate to SNES Super Metroid, my favourite Nintendo game ever, b) I think that the 'modern' Samus' orange is too flat, too yellow, and c) I was just too damn lazy to go to the hobby shop and buy some paint and too anxious to start, so I just used the orange that I had on me. Her colours will be bright, so if anything I can just add a wash afterwards. |

'Fraid not. I'm going to have to sculpt the helmet myself so I'll be happy if it looks good. This is coming from the guy who's making an effing SNAKE suit out of an Ironmonger!
I'm using a Revoltech #033, the EVA movie prototype (I'm not familiar at all with Neon Genesis Evangelion, I just bought the figure to customize). Repainting it, moulding parts myself (chest and helmet). If I can't find a suitable arm cannon piece, then I'll mould that in too. |

You got it, Chief: Samus is made of: - Revoltech #033 ( I know you know, but for completion's sake, I'm writing it here! ) - shoulder pads from GI Joe Sigma 6 Sigma Strike Duke (I was orignally going to make that figure into Samus, but luckily I discovered the Evo figure at a store near my house first. I think I'll make that Duke into Gordon Freeman from Half-Life.) - I'm thinking of using Energon Rodimus' gun as the arm cannon |

Shoulders aside, I think I've finished most of the orange. I'm still working on the yellow and I have to paint some black and red before I can attach the shoulders and mould her chest (giggity). I took a drill to Enegon Rodimus's gun and removed the weapon handle. It attaches to her elbow nicely, but it's kind of loose. Don't worry, I'm working on it. I also started painting it with this nice shade of Tamiya paint, the same shade I'll be using for my Movie-Line-Landmine-to-Halo-Warthog mod. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, Tamiya paints are pure awesome. I really, really hate my crap Testors' paints. If you guys want some mock-up/progress pics, just let me know. If I don't get a response by this evening, I'll just take some for you tomorrow.

I think it is looking awesome so far. Im taking a break for a little while with customs. I go in spurts with them. But seriously this makes me want to do one. I thought the shoulders where from a gundam at first. Since a few of the gundams have shoulders like that. If the connection is loose going into the gun, use some clear nail polish. It will thicken up the joint a bit. Just a thought on that that poped into my noggin |

1) Thanks!! I'm really looking forward to finishing it, but I'm having a hell of a time working on it. 2) Same here, mainly due to school/other projects/interest. Besides, you always have to take breaks to keep the creative juices flowing... and to get custom fodder and supplies! 3) Happy to inspire you! Just make sure to keep us posted on your projects, they're always a blast and I love picking up new techniques from your advice. 4) The shoulder parts are from the GI Joe Sigma 6 Sigma Strike Duke. I was thinking of using some Gundam parts, but I don't want to take apart the Aile Strike (ooh, I'll have to post a pic of if it in the Posing Thread later) and my beat-up Deathscythe parts didn't fit. I was thinking of using their chest pieces, but I think I'll just mould my own. 5) And here I was thinking of using paint and/or glue... Thanks for the tip, I'll look into that!Progress Update: I've removed some parts from the shoulders, parts which got in the way such as the loops for the elastic straps and the pegs on the inside. I've also begun painting them, and they'll look good when done and attached! I've dremelled a bit more off the arm cannon in order to get it to look more round. I'm also going to have to drill a round hole in the front as the current hole is more of a half-circle because of the missile slot. I'm just about ready to start painting the red onto the body, but I think I'll go buy some Tamiya red instead of using this crap Testors, so that'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Update time! My local hobby shop was out of red and orange Tamiya, so I just used the red Testors that I have. I painted the red onto the upper torso, and it's looking good. With the paint on, I don't even think that I have to mould anything else onto the chest. The shoulder pads are still drying. I had to repaint some parts because there was dust in the paint. BS. Anyway, it's drying now and it should be okay. Tomorrow's the big day: I'll crack out the Sculpey and work on her helmet, taking inspiration from the Samus statue from First 4 Figures (I've seen 3 in person), and their 360-degree view of the statue: https://www.first4figures.com/component/opt...d,3/product,44/ |

Well, the helmet is sculpted! It's not perfect, but it's the first time I've tried my hand at sculpting, and I think it's looking good! Better than I expected, anyway! Now, off to my workshop where I'll paint it and keep on truckn'. |

Ok, I put on two coats of red on the bottom of the helmet, and one coat on the top. When the one on the top dries, I'll lay down another. It's looking much better with the paint. I can't wait to have it all done. When the red's finished, then I'll add details such as the oxygen pipes and the chin vents. And, ultimately, the visor. I can't wait to show you guys my finished project! My friends are going to freak. |

I can't freaking wait to see this finished. How's 'bout some pics of the helmet? Have you started on the Metroid yet, or is it one at a time?
Nah man, that was how I took it. No worries baybee.

I'm takin' 'em one at a time, Holmes. I'll probably get started on the Metroid next week as I just finished Samus tonight and I'll be busy for the next few days. I was going to take pics of the helmet, but I was working on it so hard that I never had a chance to. I cured it right after I sculpted it, then I started painting it and whenever I left it to dry, it would usually end up upside down, or rolled over or something, so I figured I'd take shots of it later. Seeing as how I'm tired right now but I know I'm going to play about an hour of Zelda before going to sleep anyway, I'm not going to be taking any good photos tonight. Especially with this crap lighting. That being said, she's all done and I'll leave you guys with a teaser pic! Tomorrow, I'll make a new thread dedicated to her. Where should I put it? Video Game Forum? All Other Toys Forum? Please let me know as I'm not sure where to put it as she doesn't seem to fit in. Now, that teaser pic. Scroll down. I'd Rickroll you guys, but that'd be a bitch move. Okay, so here's Samus chillin' with a few of my other Nintendo toys (well, not Sakura and the Batman): ![]() Enjoy for now, more to come tomorrow. See you next mission! |

2 things!!! Awesome!!! Your sculpting is really good. Practice, my young padawan, practice. My oldest, JD, who loves metroroid for the game cube, saw this in the early stages as I scrolled down, and he asked is that metroroid toy. So if a 5 yr old sees it, and likes it, Im sure most adults will. |

1) Thanks!! 2) Again, thanks a lot! I had a really hard time and went through several revisions of the helmet before finally ending up with that one. Man, I felt really proud holding that in my hands, let me tell ya. I do need practise, so you can bet I'll keep trying! 3) Tell him that Uncle Numbers is real sorry, but Samus isn't for sale! 4) I'm not trying to impress most adults, or anyone for that matter. As selfish as this might sound, I make Samus for myself because a) I want a Samus figure! and b) to prove to myself that I can. I honestly didn't think I'd be able to end up with a recognizable Samus at all, and I wouldn't have if I hadn't planned out the project carefully and taken the time to do it right. I wasn't crazy about the choice of colours, I thought they were too bright and cartoony. More SNES or N46 than the modern Prime-era Samus. But since her proportions are so weird (the small frame of the Eva-00 body really contrasts the shoulders and helmet), the colours kinda work. They result in a bright, cartoony, Animated Samus, so to speak. Besides, the green on the Ocarina of Time Link figure that stands beside her is even brighter than the green of her glowing visor, so I guess I shouldn't worry! |

Try some model master flats next time. Tamiya is an awesome paint, but it tends to be glossy no matter what you use. It is far thicker than most paints I've use before. You don't seem selfish at all bro. I meant that if a gamer adult saw it, he/she would appreciated it. I do my customs for me, knowing full well hasblow will never make them for me. Hell some people have come out to call my customs crap. Or they need work. I had a dude on myspace say that a fig I did of Revan almost 2 yrs ago needed work. A) He didn't even know hasbro made a Revan fig, b) he doesn't collect or customize. So basically it was an asshole comment, from a know nothing, asshole. My son, He did ask for it lol. He asked right after he saw it. Edited by Hank cuyvaldar Hill, May 29 2008, 10:44 PM.
