Scene 1: Five Miles Outside Wolf Creek

1984

The night is dark. The full moon hanging in the sky sheds some light on the long gravel road. A 1980 white Toyota Corolla is the only car on the road. It’s a family of three. At the back a five-year-old boy is sleeping. He is holding a pink panther in his hands. The mother puts the inside car light on.

Dad: Are you sure you looked at the map correctly?

Mom: You said you heard from Johnny about a short cut.

Dad: I must have missed a turn off somewhere. Didn’t the map show another way?

Mom: I can’t even pin point where we are. I cannot find it on the map.

Dad: (Frustrated) It should be on the map.

Mom: I am telling you. It is not.

Dad: We will find out at the next town.

Mom: Hopefully it’s soon. Luckily Blake is fast a sleep.

Mom turns of the car light. They hear a deep howling.

Mom: What was that?

Dad: It’s probably a wolf or something.

Mom looks out of the window and sees something running in the woods. It is following them.

Mom: I saw something.

Dad: It’s a wild animal or something.

They are driving next to a cliff. Something jumps right in front of them. Dad looses control of the car and drives off the cliff. The back door of the car opens and Blake falls out. The car rolls a few times until it hits the bottom. Blake starts to climb slowly down. The door on the driver’s side is open. Blake gets to the bottom. He sees something big moving towards the car. He moves around the car to get a better view. Blake remembers hearing about the boogey man and wonders if this is it. He sees the beast pulling out his father. The next images Blake sees no child has to ever see. He hears his father pleading for his life as the beast rips his father apart. The beast enters the car. Blake sees blood spatter on the broken glass of the passenger side where his mother was sitting. The beast gets out of the car. He sees Blake. Blood is dripping from his mouth. Blake starts to run. The beast follows. Blake trips and falls. He turns around. The beast is standing over him. The beast brings his mouth closer to Blake’s face. Blood is dripping on Blake’s face. The beast opens its mouth to take one bite but a gunshot behind him startles him. The beast runs off. Blake sees a man walking up to him.

Man: Are you okay?

Blake nods his head.

Man: I am Sam.

Blake: I want my mom and dad.

Sam: Your mom and dad have passed on son but don’t worry. Sam won’t let anything happen to you.

Sam picks Blake up and carries him. In the distance a wolf is howling.

Scene 2: Blake’s Lumber

Present Day

Blake is at the back of his business chopping wood. His shirt is off and his whole body is sweaty. Sam walks up to him.

Sam: You have chopped a lot of wood today. You should get one of those electrical contraptions. It’s much easier than an axe.

Blake: I enjoy the exercise.

Sam: We should consider hiring someone in Allison’s place. We need a woman to do all the admin.

Blake: I will place an ad or something.

Sam: I will put up a notice at Mello’s.

Blake: Sure. That would be great. Talking about Mello’s how was your date with the doc.

Sam: It wasn’t a date.

Blake: Sure it wasn’t.

Sam: It was just two friends having a drink at the end of a long day.

Blake: Aggie is amazing. You shouldn’t let her slip through your fingers.

Sam: Don’t you have wood to chop?

Blake smiles. Sam goes back inside the shop.

Scene 3: Police Station

Kate enters the police station. Kate sees through the window of Jim’s office that his feet are on the table and he has a cup of coffee in his hands. Kate enters Jim’s office. She throws a big brown envelope on his desk.

Kate: Just sign the damn thing.

Jim: No, kiss good morning.

Jim takes his feet off from his desk and sits upright.

Jim: By signing this I would be giving up on our marriage.

Kate: You gave up on our marriage the day you couldn’t keep your zipper closed.

Jim: I already apologized for that.

Kate: It just shows you how much your apology meant because two days after your so called apology you just couldn’t keep your pants on. What was the sluts name again? Oh yeah it was Lily’s babysitter.

Jim: I promise it will be different this time.

Kate: Oh really. What were you doing last night? Let me tell you. You went to Mello’s Bar where you picked up a waitress.

Jim: Are you stalking me?

Kate: Don’t be silly. I have much better things to do with my time. Agnes saw you left with a blonde who thinks she is Pamela Anderson the second.

Jim: Agnes should mind her own business.

Kate: Agnes is my friend.

Kate walks to the door.

Kate: For once in your life do the right thing and sign those papers.

Kate opens the door and shuts it behind her. Jim picks up the envelope. He opens the bottom drawer of his desk and puts the envelope in there.

Scene 4: New York – Kristen’s House

Kristen and her best friend Tiffany since high school are in the TV room.

Tiffany: What movie did you get?

Kristen: Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past.

Tiffany: Oh terrific. Isn’t Matthew McConaughey just a dish?

Kristen: I have to agree with you.

Tiffany: I forgot the snacks.

Kristen: Don’t worry I’ll get it.

Kristen goes to the kitchen. She takes out a bowl and opens a packet of chips. The doorbell rings.

Kristen: Will you get that Tiff I am just quickly putting the chips in a bowl.

Kristen finishes up and goes back to the living room. She drops the bowl of chips when she sees two armed men with masks on pointing a gun at Tiffany.

Robber 1: You two on the floor now.

Kristen and Tiffany lay down on their stomachs. One of the robbers goes through the house while the other robber has the gun pointed at the hostages. Tiffany sees her cell is in reach. The robber looks away to see where his partner is. Kristen shows Tiffany not to take any chances but Tiffany doesn’t listen. She quickly grabs her cell and places it underneath her. She places her right hand also underneath her and with her thumb she dials 911. The man walks closer to the hallway to see what is keeping his partner.

Robber 1: Don’t try anything stupid.

911 answer the call. Tiffany whispers the situation to the operator and gives the address. The robber sees Tiffany’s movement. He walks up to her and lifts her up. He sees the phone. He picks up the phone and listens to whom she was talking to. He is furious when he hears she was speaking to a 911 operator. He throws the cell phone against the wall. He looks at Tiffany.

Robber: You shouldn’t have done it.

Kristen: Please just take anything you want and leave.

The robber turns to Tiffany and fires the gun. Kristen screams as Tiffany falls to the ground.

Robber 1: Come on man. Hurry up. The cops are on their way.

Robber 2: (Coming from the hallway with a bag) I heard a gunshot and screams.

He sees Tiffany on the floor laying in a pool of blood.

Robber 2: What the hell did you do that for?

Robber 1: She asked for it.

They hear sirens.

Robber 2: We got to run.

The robbers flee from the house. Kristen jumps up and hurries over to Tiffany. She feels a pulse. It is weak. Tiffany opens her eyes for a second.

Tiffany: (Soft voice) I am sorry.

Kristen: Don’t worry about it.

Tiffany closes her eyes.

Kristen: Stay with me Tiff.

The cops arrive with an ambulance. Tiffany is rushed to the hospital. The police ask Kristen questions while Tiffany is in surgery. After an hour the doctor comes out of surgery.

Doctor: I am sorry. We tried everything we could. The damage the bullet made was too severe.

Kristen breaks down and starts to cry.

Scene 5: Hospital

A man who was attacked by a beast is brought in. The man is badly injured. His left arm is ripped off. He has badly scratch marks on his body.

Agnes: What happened?

Paramedic: I am not sure. It seems an animal or something attacked him. Maybe a wolf.

Agnes: Come on people we have to get him in the ER.

The man is pushed into the ER. He flat lines. Agnes tries to save his life but it is too late. The man died. Jim is waiting in the waiting room. Agnes walks by. Jim sees her and goes to her.

Jim: Is he…

Agnes: Dead. Yes.

Jim: Dammit. I was hoping to question him.

Agnes: How many bodies have turned up being attacked.

Jim: Wolf Creek is infested with wolves. It is called Wolf Creek after all.

Agnes: I don’t believe this is just some ordinary wolf attack. That man was badly injured. The scratch mark on his body is much bigger than your normal adult wolf. I have seen wolf attacks and this aint one of them. Just like the others.

Jim: You tell me what it is then and please don’t tell me it is a werewolf because werewolves don’t exist.

Agnes: Don’t be silly. Of course, I know werewolves don’t exist. This is your job detective to find out what is killing people in Wolf Creek.

Jim: Maybe we have a serial killer on our hands.

Agnes: (Laughs) Come on Jim you really thing a human can cause that kind of damage. I still think it’s an animal of some sort. Your job is to find out what kind.

Agnes walks away. Jim brushes his hands through his hair and leaves.

Scene 6: New York – New York Times Office

It’s the next day. Kristen shows up for work.

Editor: Why are you at work? You should have taken the day off.

Kristen: I need to keep busy because if I don’t I will go crazy.

Editor: There is nothing for you to do here. Go home. I am sure Tiffany’s family will need some help with funeral arrangements.

Kristen: It’s so unreal. We were about to watch a movie and instead we get a horror show.

Editor: Listen to me Kristen. After the funeral, you take some time off. Go away. You need time to deal with this. You have plenty of vacation days left.

Kristen: Maybe you are right.

Editor: I know I am.

The editor hugs Kristen. She leaves the building.

Scene 7: Sam’s House

Sam and Blake arrive.

Blake: We have to hurry.

They enter the house. They go down to the basement. They push a big trunk out of the way. There is a trap door. Sam opens the door. There is stairs leading down to a secret room. They go down. In the secret room, there is a steel door. Sam unlocks it and opens the door. There is a big cage. Sam opens the door and Blake enters. Blake starts to feel his heart pounding against his chest. Sam closes the cage and locks it. Blake falls to the ground as his clothes starts to tear. Blake screams as transforming hurts. Blake’s body gets hairier. His teeth get sharper and slime starts dripping from his mouth. In seconds, Blake has transformed into a werewolf. Sam looks at the creature in the cage jumping around looking for a way out. There is no sign of Blake left. Sam leaves and locks the steel door. He leaves the secret room and pushes the trunk over the trap door. Sam switches the basement light off. He leaves and locks that door as well.

Scene 8: Mello’s Bar

Caitlin enters the bar. She sits down and orders a beer. The bartender puts the beer in front of her.

Bartender: Why you look so depressed Caitlin?

Caitlin: Lost my job.

Bartender: Again.

Caitlin: What do you mean again?

Bartender: It’s been the seventh job you had this month.

Caitlin: I did not see the difference in the copy machine and the shredder.

Bartender: Oh come on Caitlin. Everybody knows the difference. You were just looking to get fired.

Caitlin: That job sucked anyway.

Bartender: Wolf Creek isn’t a big town. Soon there won’t be jobs left for you to apply because you would have been through every place.

Caitlin: I need to find something I enjoy.

Bartender: You should go have a peak on the Message Board. There are a few ads you may be interested in.

Caitlin: Thanks.

Caitlin gets up and walks to the board. She looks at the ads. She sees the ad for Blake’s Lumber. She takes it off from the board. She smiles as she folds up the piece of paper and puts it in her jeans pocket.

Scene 9: Kate’s House

Kate finishes reading Lily a bedtime story.

Kate: It’s time for bed sweetie.

Kate kisses Lily on her forehead.

Lily: Aren’t daddy coming to say goodnight.

Kate: Your dad is working late.

Lily: Goodnight mommy.

Kate smiles. She switches of the light and pulls the door halfway close. The full moon light is sneaking through the curtains of Lily’s bedroom window. The clock on the wall shows it is 4am. Lily wakes up when she hears a howling sound. She gets out of bed and goes to the window. She sees nothing. Lily leaves her room and goes down stairs to the kitchen. She opens the back door and steps out. She hears a scary noise almost like a growling. Lily is shocked when she sees a wolf but it is bigger and scarier looking. It’s a werewolf. Lily remembers hearing about it. The werewolf is pitch black and is going towards Lily. The full moon starts to fade away. The werewolf stops. It starts to transform back into human form. Lily is stunned when she starts to recognize the man.

Black Wolf: (Deep Voice) You won’t tell anyone who I am. I will come back and rip your mommy apart. Do you understand?

Lily nods her head.

Black Wolf runs into the forest. Lily keeps staring at the spot where Black Wolf has disappeared.

Stay tuned for scene from our next episode.

On the next Bad Moon

Kate: Something is wrong with Lily. She is not speaking.
Caitlin: I am here to apply for the vacancy.
Blake: Another murder. It has Black Wolf written all over it.

Clay trips over a bucket as he enters Blake’s Lumber. Caitlin smiles at him. Clay blushes.

Kristen is driving when something jumps at her windshield. She screams and a crash is heard.
