Clue will be back in a little more than a month now. What should fans of the series expect upon it's return? We sit down with head writer Erik Bard for a sneak peak: -Dont expect immediate answers, or really any answers at all. "Sit back and enjoy the ride, the second season might help to solve a couple of small problems, but, nothing too big or colossal. Season Three will be the game changer." -Is there are theme for the second season? "Not really, Season Two is really just to show fans that I am not afraid too, and will, change everything you know. You wont know ANY of the characters you have grown to love this season." -When will we find out what the big mystery is for Season Two? "About 5 minutes into the premiere episode" -So, no luck trying to get you to spill the secret? (laughs) no, I am remaining pretty tight-lipped. Actually, the cast has even taped the entire season and they dont even know what the secret is. They can guess, and based on what they know from scenes they could probably guess the correct thing, but, I am not telling anyone. Not until December 8th!" -Is it going to result in a whole new cast? We are guessing based on the contract negotiations and the slew of newcomers for the season. "You might be on to something there...." -Are we going to find out who killed Mr. Body? "Yes, there is a definite killer living in the mansion. It isnt going to be a character that you havent seen before. It is one of the 6 people living in that house. You wont find out until Season 3...well, at least for now. I love going back and re writing stories. I think this one though can only go so long." -What will Clue consist of after the killer is revealed? "There is actually another pretty big story arc for Season 3 that will have some intense repercussions for Season 4, as well as the fall out from who the actual killer is. There is plenty of drama that can fuel the story after the mystery is gone." -Will there be a mystery-a-season, a la, Desperate Housewives? "That is a good question, I honestly havent seen Clue lasting for more than 3 or 4 seasons. Could Season 4 be the last? Possibly, I guess it depends if fans are bored with the story. We might not make it past Season 2 though. The ratings for Season 1 were awesome, and I never would have thought that it was possible. This is easily Erik Bard Productions hit show....but we are going out on a limb with Season Two. We could deal with viewer backlash, so, it is all up in the air. Seasons 3 and 4 are much more grounded than Season 2." -Speaking of Erik Bard Productions, what is in the works currently? "You guys know me too well, there is ALWAYS something new coming out of here, currently we are aligning the cast to the new Spin-off of Scream 4...Tempted. It will take the killer (who we still dont actually know who it is, but will soon) and follow their point of view as they tell their side of the story. It is in the theme of Law and Order, CSI, etc." -Sounds awesome, so, it isnt the typical soap form that fans know you for? "It is the typical "soap opera with an Erik Bard twist" (laughs), there is continuation, the stories will carry over, and the cast we are dealing with is a group of VERY talented actors and actresses, we are thrilled to have them. So, yes, there will be some plot to the show. There is still story to tell with regards to those characters, I want to tell those stories, Scream 4 wasn't my biggest success. I think a lot of that had to do with the wacky scheduling. I thought maybe that scheduling (1 episode a month) would make it easier for viewers, but, I think it might have turned viewers off. I think the premise was good, and I think our writing and acting was top-notch. I actually think that some of my best work went into that series. It was just a hot mess with the scheduling." -So, we take it that Tempted will be more normally scheduled? "yes, it will premiere sometime in March 2010, and will air through May/June" -Sounds good, thank you for your time. "thank you for the interview" |
