This might as well be none of my business, as i don't live in the UK, but i'd like to point something out to the quoted post. Ethanol, while being per se toxic, in small/moderate amounts doesn't impair human organism in many ways. In fact, with small doses, the only possible effect is brain atrophy. In large amounts, and prolonged consumption Ethanol causes vision changes, impaired memory, mental instablity, cancer, anemia, etc., etc. From what i gathered, this involves mostly beer, so i'll stick with that. Beer has much lower amount of alcohol than other alcoholic beverages (comparable could be weak liqours and strong beer types i suppose, but then again, i am no connoisseur of consumable Ethanol, so feel free to correct me here.) To get any symptoms i mentioned, requires vast amounts of beer drank on a daily basis. Which some people i suppose do. It's a matter of circumspection, it wont kill you in small amounts, will even make you healthier to some extent (reduced risk of developing gallstones and kidney stones, increases insulin activity and so on, and so forth.) And also, from what i heard, this places pubs in a tight financial situation, leading to a number of those being closed.Which costs people their jobs, something nice to have, especially when the financial crisis runs rampant on the stock exchanges. Simply don't drink excessive amounts of it, and you'll be fine. Thank you for your attention. Krann |
