You should be ashamed. Betty reinforces a very hurtful stereotype of the overweight.

Kidding, of course...

As for Axel's plan, it sounds good, but Peter's already declared his actions for this turn (standing his ground). We'll see where we are after Betty attacks.

Looks like we've got a bit of strategic debate going on in 'Search and Destroy'. You guys want to try and work out a plan? Try for a rescue mission at the yacht club?

I don't want to come off as a whiner, but it seems remiss of me not to point out that Peter is bleeding out from SDC damage.

I just posted some new combat modifications in D's House Rules. I will add an additional post with a list of Penetration Values (P.V.) for bullets in the morning.

Seems very difficult to get a head shot, particularly with the minimal bonuses to strike that we get at our low levels. Even after a head shot, it might just deflect off the skull? Are the skulls of rotting corpses really that tough? Also, does the 17+ to strike rule apply to melee, close range, and long range, or is that basic long range (as I defined it in my game, as being 60 ft or more away). Are there active bonuses to strike when within a certain distance?

Actually, it is now much easier to get a head shot. Just roll 17-20 with appropriate bonuses. And any successful head shot does damage (even if it doesn't fully penetrate). If it penetrates the skull then it does double, or 4x damage.

P.V. 1 and 2 are basically relegated to .22 caliber. I don't know if you've fired many 22's, but their stopping power is limited. But given the way we do things in Outbreak, they still do full damage on a successful strike. They just have a low chance of penetrating for super damage.

These mods should, in theory, make a one-on-one encounter with a zombie easier for the PC's. Of course, that's why god invented zombie hordes...

Peter's current condition seems to correspond to the Coma/Death rules, which would work if Betty dealt damage direct to hit points. If that was your intent, please let me know so I can update the information in-game (I'll repost the "combat post" stat block for clarity).

No. It was SDC damage - but lots of it at one time. My intent is to get across the seriousness of the damage. It is a wound that needs attention but is not a Coma/Death situation. You will notice that I did not indicate any penalties associated with the wound as would be the case if the damage had been to hit points. However, it is more than a scratch. A successful first aid roll would easily stop the bleeding.

Unfortunately neither of you have first aid.

I added a bit of clarification in my last post for you Snikers. Peter is bleeding, but not 'bleeding out'. Sorry for the confusion.

Sorry about that, dhorn. I assumed this was a "you now have P.E. combat rounds until death" type situation. I guess I leapt to conclusions.

This whole time I've been playing under the assumption that DR's head shots work like they do in Rifts, typically -3 to strike from a range (though that rule is most often cited for giant robots and power armor), thus requiring 11 or better, not 17 or better. I guess all those "hits" Garek recently scored with called shots while escaping from the base weren't hits after all.
