I deduced that Axel was stashing the raft in the woods based on post #31. This does not have to be the case. Please resolve this ASAP. Thanks.

Woods?
Water?

Ach, we've lost our equipment and haven't had time to heal up or get proper medical treatment yet! Interesting can kill!

Yeah, so do non whiners, zombies aren't picky. They are equal opportunity carnivores, or would they be manivores?

Question:

A number of our characters (Garek included) have recently been mauled by the living dead. Garek at one point was said to have been bleeding pretty badly if I recall (though I think he only took 8 SDC or something like that) and so far we've only really had field medical treatment. Is there a risk of re-opening wounds? Will our injuries slow us down? Less than 12 in game hours ago Garek's speed was reduced by 1/3, are others in the group injured similarly?

Notes about Garek's Injuries:

As she makes contact with you, you snap out of your paralysis... but a moment too late. Her teeth sink into the flesh of your left thigh causing you to stagger back from the pain and the shock of being attacked by a teenage girl.

Girl Zombie Bite Attack Damage to Garek: 2d6=8

Garek, as the young girl's teeth sink into the flesh of your thigh she reaches her arms around your leg and bites you again.

Girl Zombie Strike Roll Against Garek: 1d20+2=19

Girl Zombie Bite Damage Against Garek: 2d6=5

You cringe with pain as her teeth tear at the muscle of your leg - her frenzied state seeming to intensify as the blood from your wound pours into her hungry mouth.

This is a deep wound that needs immediate attention.

Garek, you sit down on the ground and apply pressure to the wound. This slows the bleeding while you wait for the team. You look at your leg and it’s hard to tell whose blood you’re wearing. The laceration shows defined teeth marks through your skin.

Without thinking, he methodically treats the grievous bite wound to Garek's leg starting with stopping the bleeding.

Roll to stop Garek's bleeding and treat his wounds (paramedic base skill = 50%). (1d100=1)

He smiles as the wound quickly responds to his actions

Garek, you watch as Brodie tends to your wound with the dexterity of a seasoned field medic. The man is meticulous. He pours some cool water from his canteen to clean off the blood and filth. The wound is deep but manageable. Brodie opens a package of antiseptic ointment and applies it to the wound. Then he applies bandages to cover it up.

Brodie, you successfully stop Garek's bleeding. In your assessment, this should stabilize things for a couple of hours, but you know that human bite injuries usually result in infection. And from these monsters? It could be worse.

Great question Beo and something I had overlooked. I appreciate you bringing it to my attention.

For the sake a simple remedy for the issue of previous wounds, we will proceed as follows:

1. Any lost SDC or HP are still lost until you can get proper medical attention. My notes indicate the following:

Garek: 56 SDC, 26 HP, Armor: 45 SDC, bite wounds to left leg
Axel: 14 SDC, 19 HP, Armor: 33 SDC, injury to left arm
Zara: 0 SDC, 15 HP, Armor: none, significant injuries to left arm and left leg
Laz: 62 SDC, 32 HP, Armor: 32 SDC, superficial claw wound to chest
Peter: 33 SDC, 19 HP, Armor: none, currently unscathed (but we can fix that)
Pedro: 26 SDC, 18 HP, Armor: none, no serious injury but disoriented

2. All bleeding has been stopped for these wounds.
3. Garek and Zara have speed reduced by 1/2.
4. Infection could be a problem and will be addressed in future posts.

I hope this helps. If you see any discrepancies between the damage taken in the list above and your notes, PM me and we'll figure it out.

Thanks!

Yeah, sorry, I knew that question was asking for trouble but it needed to be addressed, I didn't want to throw down a post saying "Garek does this" only to find out that "Garek can't does this, Garek's got a booboo."

On the upside, salt water should help clean our wounds. What are the chances of the wounds re-opening? Garek didn't take a massive amount of damage, but the posts don't necessarily reflect that. With the treatment we have we could be recovering 2 HP and 4 SDC per day (nonprofessional treatment) so Garek should be fully recovered within 3-4 days. I'd assume that the wound should be closed enough for him to be fairly mobile by now. Zara on the other hand seems like she was a glutton for punishment, but that's what you get for punching zombies... (punches only do a fraction of the damage you actually roll).

S'allright, our characters don't know the properties of zombies nor necessarily how to best combat them, they may believe punching to be effective.

A very bitey suprise. Gnagnagnagnagna. Since GArek and Zara both have their speed reduced and are probably the two strongest for carrying the NPC, it would probably make the most sense for them to stick together.
