Tilden, Nebraska Friday, March 19, 2010 1540 Each of you (Zavier, Sadie, and Vargus) arrives at the airport at about the same time on Friday afternoon. Conspicuously missing from the rendezvous is Chester Allen. Despite his unexpected absence, you rent a four door sedan and drive to the local motel where Chester has booked a series of rooms for the team - each of you with your own room, of course. When you check in, the receptionist hands Zavier a note indicating that Chester will be arriving sometime Sunday. Something came up in Minneapolis that has delayed his trip. After getting settled, you reconvene the group in the motel's small conference room that has been converted into an office for the team - a sort of base of operations. Ellen and Marcus arrive shortly thereafter. This is your opportunity to share what your PC's have learned with the team and to come up with a plan for the investigation. |

Vargus sits immediately after entering, and says "Yo," to the two present. Laying his head in his hands, He told everyone, "Yaaa, I got nothin." |

Ellen smiles at the group as they enter and nods at Vargus as he reports that he was unable to find out anything to help with the case. Once everyone is present, she tells them, “Marcus and I talked to the lawyer of the accused and while a lot of the evidence is circumstantial, it all paints a pretty bleak picture. The accused does work at the same time as the murders, but he works alone so no one can corroborate it. Another fact is that one of the murders took place in the building Robertson cleans, and he was found kneeling over the victim’s body with her blood on his hands. However, it is possible that he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time – the coroner’s report will hopefully tell us how long the victim had been dead for when she was found.” Ellen continues, “Robertson’s lawyer is convinced of our innocence and thinks there are some supernatural forces at play here. I was thinking we should research the history to the town to see if there are any ghost stories that may help us understand why the murderer’s seem to be creating a specific ritual. Looking at the others, Ellen asks “Was anyone else able to find out anything that could be helpful or that warrants a closer look?” Edited by Mierin, May 12 2010, 05:19 PM.

Marcus nods to Ellen. "I spoke to a waitress in a local diner. She told me that Mr. Robertson never made any attempt to blend into town, to participate in town activities. In fact he nearly stuck out like a sore thumb, he stayed alone and had few if any friends. I think we should also look into the effects that the police pulled from Mr. Robertson's home as well what they didn't pull from his home. We may need a court order to see the evidence but I think a simple B&E will suffice for Mr. Robertson's home". |

Ellen looks over at Marcus and says "While I agree looking at Mr. Robertson's home is a good idea, I am not comfortable with the idea of breaking into his house. It is most likely under surveillance by the police and if we get caught, it could get us into a lot of trouble. I think it would be worth asking his lawyer if we can get access to his house before we start committing B&E's and he would have access to whatever the police did collect as evidence." |

Vargus chuckles, "The file says people blatantly don't want him in town, and then they think he doesn't try to integrate. Chicken or the egg?" Vargus sighs, "Well, I was wondering if the suspect would submit for a few tests for his...humanity." Vargus finished. |

Vargus shrugged, "Only the simple stuff. Jab in with silver, splash him with holy water. Nothing like cutting off his head to test his insides, or throwing him off a cliff to see if he flies. It would take a short time for me to gather the materials, but I could rule him out as most monsters with a few quick tests." He began to think of what tests he could do if he didn't want to kill of maim the suspect. |

"I hardly doubt that the jail will allow such tests to be conducted with the suspect in their custody. As for my idea, there is a reason for my suggesting it. If someone is setting our client up, and they have access to legal channels then if they find out we are looking through Mr. Robertson's things then they will plant additional evidence to convince us that our client is guilty and go away. If we conduct our investigation with as much secrecy as possible then we will have greater chance to discover the truth". |

Ellen smirks at Vargus as she says "While I personally have no objection to the tests, provided the accused is okay with the idea, I don't think the police would be quite as enthusiastic about it." Looking over at Marcus, Ellen nods as she says "I do get where you are coming from, however, being a member of law enforcement, I still don't think coming b&e's is a good idea. Plus, we have the advantage of looking at this from a unique point of view, which would help us in our investigation." Glancing over at the quiet members of the team, Ellen asks them "Do you have any information to add?" |

As far as the GM is concerned, only Vargas, Ellen, and Marcus are present. You snooze... you lose.

OK gang. So have you decided what you're going to do? Please keep in mind that this is a character driven game. Once you've decided on a plan of action, I can move things along. |

"Well I hear no objections to my plan, there for I am off to gather some materials for the test. I can be reached on my cell phone if any of you need me." He made a quick bow and left, his brain still working out what tests should be done. 1: Lore: Demons & Monsters 62% Pass 2: Lore: Ghosts & Entities 62% Fail 3: Lore: Faeries & Creatures of Magic 57% Fail (1d100=22, 1d100=90, 1d100=84) Vinny can't think of any connection the case could have to fairies or ghosts, so he decided to settle on demon and monster tests. Monsters and demons hat would qualify for this case would be....? OOC: GM or anyone can jump in with suggestion here. |

OOC: The factors I can think of would be women victims, night murders, messy, and I think I'll do some research into whether the victims were virgins. That should narrow it down a bit. Vargus flips out his copy of the case file(if I wasn't given one, I flip out my phone and check my e-mail) checking down the list for the names of the victims. If their names were there good, Vinny would check for the address. If not, GM can say but I'm going to make a few presumptions here. If their address's are not stated, Vinny refers to a phone book, and finds the first house. Walking there, he advances to the front door and knocks 3 times. |

Vargas - given your previous studies of demons and monsters, you know that there are any number of creatures that would be capable of such heinous crimes. However, based on the ritualistic manner in which the murders were committed it seems likely that the crimes were not committed by a mindless monster. No. These murders were carried out (you believe) by a creature of moderate to high intelligence. No specific names of monsters or demons come to mind, but you do remember reading about alleged cases of demonic possession in other parts of the midwest. Please refrain from making assumptions. You know what they say about that... The case file indicates only that the victims were "young women" and gives no names. Based on that information, you gather that the women were likely underage and, as such, their names have not been released to the public. |

OOC: It's ok if you make me back track, but I'd rather throw as much of my plan out there as possible. Vargus frowns at the case file. Not mentioning victims eh? Lets see if some research can fill in the gaps. Vargus thought as he flipped out cell phone. Computer operations 102% (1d100=54) Pass Checking Facebook, and other online social applications, Vargus looks up any teenagers from Tilden, and then checks through any conversations to see if there is mention of the dead. |

Vargas - it would appear that just about every teenager in town has a Facebook page, though most of them seem to be savvy with the privacy settings. None of the profiles seem to suggest that any of the teenage women whose profiles you were able to view are victims, though again, it's hard to tell given the privacy. However, you do find an "In Memory" page for a girl named Samantha Rae. There are no details as to the cause of her death, but it was recent and she fits the profile. Most likely the page was put together by some of her friends. There are 67 fans. |

Vargus flips through the phone book ( asking politely for it at the hotel we are staying at or some phone booth) and looks through it for 'Rae'. It wasn't a common name to him, but lets see. |

Vargus looks at the three numbers for a few moments. Internal dialogue is as follows; "There are three, how are there three? Whatever pick one. Maybe I should go with the couple seeing as how it is a child I'm looking for. But what about the divorce rate, and it could be the single people. On that note what if she is actually living with her other parent and calling a 'Rae' will mean nothing? Damn this got complicated fast I don't know which to pick. Without changing expression, he dialed the first number. (123) 666-6969 |
