"Well if there's anything else I can do to help, please don't hesitate. Just be fore-warned that small town paranoia can turn into something much more tangible when the right catalyst is present. And right now, Robertson is the only suspect we've got."

Sensing that the discussion is over, Agent Moulder stands up. He takes one last look at the crime scene photograph of the strange pentagram-inscribed-goat circle and sets it on the table.

"There is something strange going on with this case. That's why I recommended Chester to Robertson's lawyer. I hope your team can turn something up that might help either way."

Vargas - please make a second Charm/Impress check. If you pass, go ahead and ask your question(s). If not, wait for my next post.

Marcus and Ellen - Agent Moulder is ushering you out the door. What are you doing?

"That's the thing. The police think they have their killer, but if they don't, another young woman is going to die. I'm betting they don't. Are you willing to answer questions?"

Rae stares back at you with the clouded, lifeless eyes of a man struggling to keep his life together after experiencing an emotional train wreck. He almost seems not to hear you make your case.

As if snapping out of a hypnotic trance he responds to your question: "That monster Robertson will pay for what he done and ain't no one gonna stand in the way of that! A man like that gets what's due."

With that, Samuel Rae slams the door shut.

The suddenness of Rae's retreat catches you a bit off-guard and you stand there at the door for a moment contemplating your next move. The sound of a basketball being dribbled on concrete across the street catches your attention.

If you turn to look at the source of the dribbling, you see a young man (around 17 years old) shooting hoops at the house across the street.

Vargas - what do you do?

Momentarily contemplating a bullet that only affects drunks, Vargus decides to try someone closer to the target age.

Walking over to the kid, Vargus called, "You live here?"

Ellen smiles at Agent Moulder as they head toward the exit and says "Thank you for your time, Agent Moulder." Once they are outside again, Ellen looks at Marcus and suggests, "I think it would be a good idea to check out the town's museum and library to get a better sense of the history of this town. What are your thoughts on that?"

Vargas, the teenager stops dribbling his basketball as you approach and gives you a peculiar look as if sizing you up. "Uh... yeah. Who are you?" After introducing yourself, the boy (named Tommy) stares at you as if he knows you've got some questions for him.

"Yeah man. She lived right there" he says pointing to the house you just came from. "Mr. Rae is all messed up huh? Poor guy" he adds as he dribbles the basketball once and catches it.

Vargas, the kid thinks about it for a minute and then responds. "Not that I ever knew about. I don't think her father ever let her out of his sight. He was pretty protective of her. Not that she couldn't have had any guy in the whole school. She was smokin' hot."

Vargas - just to speed things along, feel free to drop a couple of questions (if you have more) and Tommy will do his best to answer them.

Ellen, Marcus nods at your suggestion. A couple minutes drive and you pull up in front of the Tilden Public Library. Main Street is rather quiet and the afternoon sun is hanging low in the western sky. Luckily, the library is open. As you walk up the steps, a few people exit the library. As they pass the two of you they give you a strange once over as if sizing you up and move on without saying a word.

When you enter the building, a stereotypical librarian greets you. "Welcome to the Tilden Public Library" she says.

Ellen and Marcus - you're in the library. What's the plan?

"Was there any one that was particularly interested in Samantha? or that Samantha was interested in? Teachers included."

"Did you know her very well?"

"Do you know if she had any close friends? Do you know where they live?"

(since I'm throwing multiple questions out there, They probably won't come in proper order after this.)

"I think a lot of the guys were interested in her, but she didn't pay any of them any mind. At least not as boyfriends go. "

"Did you know her very well?"

"Well, she was the same age as me. Just a little bit older, I guess. We pretty much grew up together so, yeah, I guess I knew her pretty well."

"Do you know if she had any close friends? Do you know where they live?"

"She was pretty involved with the church. We both sang in the choir. Other than that, she was in some of the clubs at school. She played the flute in the school band. She was real likable girl, I think she had lots of friends."

Vargas - you also recall that Samantha's 'In Memory' Facebook page had 67 fans (a decent number in such a small town).

Vinny takes in the information momentarily.

"Hmmm. Alright, Do you know any of the other victims?"

"Names? Addresses?"

"Lastly, what was your name?"

After he answers, Vargus thanks him and pulls out his cell phone to look up the next closest house. If the kid didn't give him any addresses or names, He finds the church instead.

Vargas, Tommy gives you the names of the 5 other victims though he does not have addresses for them.

You make your way to the church, The Pentecostal Church of Christ. You open the large wooden doors and enter the building. A choir of young people is practicing psalms as a man plays the piano.

You notice a rack of candles to your left. Under the candles are the photos of six young girls.

Vargas - now at the church, what do you do?

Chuckling to himself. He calculated the odds of all 6 girls going to church and singing in the choir. He dismissed the equation when he remembered it was a small town.

He stood and waited patiently by the door for choir practice to end. He eyes the crowd, memorizing the faces. No doubt another one will be missing by the time my client is dead. Vargus thought dubiously.

He also made sure to memorize the piano players face.

After it was done and the children left, Vargus non-chalantly walked over to the piano player. "Hello, I'm called Vargus Janova. I'd like to ask you a few questions. Would you answer them?"

Marcus not really knowing where to start walks up to the librarian. "Pardon me miss. But I am wondering if you have anything on the local myths and legends"?

"Unfortunately," answers the librarian, "we don't have much in the way of local fiction. Let me see.." she says as she types on the computer.

"We have a few books on Native American mythology, of course the Roman and Greek myths, and a book on the occult. That's about it. I'm very sorry sir. You might try talking to some of the old timers, they may have some information on that sort of thing."

The book on the occult caught Marcus' ear. "How often does the occult book get checked out? And where might I find some of these old timers you spoke of"?

"Well now, that's an interesting question" says the librarian with a smile. She types some more on the keyboard. "Hmmm" she says as if stumbling across the most interesting tid-bit of information since the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

"A Study of the Occult, by Lord Alfred Russell. Looks like this book doesn't get checked out too much at all. In fact, it's only been checked out once in the past year. Huh. And it's overdue for being returned. Tsk, tsk."

Vargus simply looks back at the man, "No. The girls that have been murdered recently all attend this church correct?"

"Are they all in the choir?"

"How much of the town actually attend church regularly?"

"Has anyone stopped attending church recently?"

"What is your name?"

"What do you do here?"
