To all you fine name-changin' dandies...

We've set up a profile field for you to put your original/most-known-by name into that will show up in the info panel next to your posts. You know, the one that has the person's name, avatar, title, post count, and all of that. All you have to do is put your original name in it and then you're free to not think about it again.
"But Apejack, how do I find this field?", you're asking, no? Simple! Get to your User CP by clicking Preferences on the top-right of pretty much any page on here, and there will be two lists of options: Board Controls, and Profile Options. Click Update Profile. At the bottom of this page, riiiight above the "Save Profile Changes" button, there will be a neat little field for you to type in your name, with the words "is actually" to the left of it. Alternatively, you can just move your mouse pointer over Preferences and if a drop-down menu appears (well hey, it might not on some computers!) with Change Avatar, Change Signature, and Update Profile in it, just click Update Profile from there.
Just note, you might not get your name changed later on if you refuse to or whatever, and I've heard some ominous mumblings about grues. Stay safe, FEABLers!

Yes, you saw the title correctly, you'll once again be able to bid for those very rare weapons you can barely find anywhere else! Let the outrageous bidding wars begin!
HP and Luck topic is officially declared dead.

Taking effect as of, uh, now, these changes:
For newly created characters, the HP base of all classes is going to be raised by four.
Free points to distribute are raised to 16.
For existing characters, several points.
1. If you have not beneficiated from the HP and Luck topic at all, add 4 HP and distribute three brand new free points anywhere you'd like.
2. If you have chosen both HP and Luck, if you received only 3 HP, your HP goes up by 1. If you received only 1 or 2 Luck points you can distribute the balance in free points (2 free points if you got 1 Luck, 1 free point if you got 2)
3. If you chose HP only, you get a number of free points you can distribute anywhere equal to 7 - HP bonus (which will result in 1-3 free points)
4. If you chose Luck only, you get a boost to HP equal to 7 - Luck bonus (which will result in 3-5 HP)
5. If you are a new-gen prepromo who wasn't allowed bonuses from the topic, you don't get anything. Tough luck.
As a corollary to this, future prepromoted characters also only spend 16 free points instead of 20 to balance the rise of the HP base.
That is it. Have fun w/ free points

Hey, people who wanted to do map stuff

Blaze is opening a map battle for all to participate in. It will be in the Odds and Ends, if it's not already there. Suggested character level is 20/6 to 20/13.
I'm told this was originally part of a clan plot but the clan has long since vanished, and he wants to do the idea anyway.
Also, your mother.
That is all.

I know you all like the new ability to request name changes.
However, if I see another name change request that attempts to include filtered words that are filtered for good reason, I will respond to it the same way I just did - I will slap you with a warning, and I may begin including other stuff if I get enough of them. I encourage the other admins to do the same.
I have to draw the line somewhere on these insane name shenanigans.

On profile approval.

You might've noticed it taking a longer time for profiles to get approved. Hence, we've altered the system a bit. There's an Unapproved Profiles subforum now, where new characters get posted. Upon approval, they get moved to the main forum and everything's cool and happy. You may now return to your regular insanity and chaos.
Dark Magic is getting reformed.

Long story short, us staffers have agreed to take a number of measures to make Dark magic (one of these also affecting a Light tome) less of a total oddball and more streamlined compared to other weapon types. We also agreed that it was about time that Luna got hit for a damn nerf. >_>
Here are the following changes applied.
1) Dark Rank/WEXP level now starts at E, like every other weapon type.
Concretely, it means this. If your character currently has a Dark weapon rank that isn't maxed (A-Rank for unpromos and S-Rank for promos), your character loses 25 Dark WEXP. If this would make your Dark WEXP go below 0 for your current weapon rank, you lose a weapon rank and go back to the previous one, and substract the remainder of the 25 WEXP to the number needed to get back to your previous weapon rank to determine your current Dark WEXP.
2) Flux is now an E-Rank tome
Pretty self explanatory here.
3) There is a new D-Rank Dark tome, Worm.
Worm will become available in the shops shortly. It has the following stats:
Wt: 10, Mt: 9, Hit: 70, Crit: 0, Rng: 1-2, WEXP: 1, Uses: 35
4) Luna's stats are being severely altered. In addition, it becomes a B-Rank tome, and is no longer exclusive to Shamans/Druids.
The alterations for Luna goes as follow:
Hit: 85, Crit: 10, Effect: Ignores the enemy's Res, total Mt is two thirds (rounded down) of the user's Mag stat.
5) The weights of Fenrir and Aura are respectively lowered to 16 and 14.
Again, self-explanatory.
The following changes take effect immediatly, and the appropriate references will be adjusted shortly.
That is all.

ORE WA THREAD HIJACK
This is it, people. Election day in 24 hours, once again. This is the single tradition that defines a country. This is the institution that has, ultimately, brought the United States from a middle-of-nowhere utterly irrelevant deadend to the world's sole modern superpower. This is when you get to decide what that superpower is about to do.
I don't care if you're a democrat, republican, or (bleh) libertarian. You could be Green or Constitution or American Nazi (okay, then I'd have to reconsider my friendship with you). I don't care how long the lines are. If you're old enough to, and are registered, get off your ass and vote. And if you're not registered, frankly, you did yourself and everybody else around you a disfavor. Mind, if you live in Connecticut, Idaho, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, or Wyoming, remember that you're allowed to register on the same day you vote.
Even if the election seems like a lock in your area--and frankly, unless you live in one of about ten competitive states, your presidential vote won't matter one jot, but A) it's the principle that matters, and B) almost all of you likely live somewhere with an active congress race or a state-level initiative. Prop 8 in California. Healthy Families in Ohio. Razor-thin Senate elections in a tenth of the states. Abortion bans across the board, in blue state and red. Active House elections everywhere. Many Governor's seats up for grabs. And a thousand other things I'm not familiar with because I don't live in your state.
You really don't have an excuse. Low voter turnout is pointed out by certain people as evidence that Americans are fat, lazy, and above all complacent, a nation convinced without evidence that somehow it'll all work out fine.
(LOUD BLEEPING NOISE) them. (Does that exploit even work anymore? Somebody needs to patch Zeta if it does...)
And hey, at least it looks like Mr. Tubes is going down...
This has been a public (dis)service announcement.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled non-srs bsznz posts.
