Weapon EXP; Why don't we do it like this?

Okay, I'll just get right to the point.

In FE7 (maybe other FEs; I haven't played any other one), whether a unit's attack hits or misses, they still get WEXP for it. For melee-units, it was nice because you didn't have to lose a weapon use to get WEXP. For magicians, it was even better, since their tomes lose uses whether it hits or not.

Why don't we do it like this, too? I know I was annoyed when it took me 2 and 2/3 Fire tomes for my Gypsy to get a D-level weapon mastery, when in FE, she'd have had it before her first tome got down to 10 remaining uses.

What does everyone else think of this?

I'm for it as long as melee weapons get exp if they miss as well. I thought magic misses do give wexp. though.

...What?! I've been told (I don't remember who said it) that you DO NOT get ANY WEXP if your weapon misses, no matter WHAT kind of weapon it is!

Now I have to go back through all of my battles and re-calc all of my chars' WEXP. <_<

Thank you for telling me, though. I must've missed that when I read through the rules and stuff.

indeed, tried to make it simple in that if you lose a weapon use, you gain wexp, to make it easier on the eyes on figureing out wexp and such. Plus to balance out more the wexp growths since most of the beginning magic tomes were light, and some physical weps are heavy and such.
