1. EXP is too extreme, and severely penalizes those who run events with lots of weak enemies instead of a few strong ones, as well as those who fight somebody two levels lower. The difference isn't that huge. Change the EXP*2 part of the equation to EXP*1.5 or even EXP, and these problems will be allievated (sp). 2. I have two staff suggestions. 1. Force Staff Rank: E Uses: 45 WEXP: 0.7 Accuracy: 70 + Mag*5 + Skl - EnemyRes*5 - EnemyDistance*2 Range: Mag/10 + 2 (max = 5, min = 2, rounds down) Effect: Deal Mag + 5 - Res damage to one opponent. Note that because this is a staff, counterattacks are impossible. Likewise, one cannot counterattack with this staff; any counterattacks are done with the equipped weapon. Also note that possible damage dealt (note: DAMAGE, not POWER) caps at 15, and doubles are impossible due to this thing's stavey nature. This should limit "I am a sage and I am using this to get free attacks without any possibility of countering." One interesting aspect of this is that because it uses Res instead of Spd/Luk for dodging, it bypasses the dodging that most speedy characters possess. On the other hand, most speedy characters don't exactly need lots of help taking on the often defensively weak magicians... 2. Toxify Staff Rank: D Uses: 25 WEXP: 1.0 Accuracy: 50 + Mag*5 + Skl - EnemyRes*5 - EnemyDistance*2 Range: Mag/2, rounded down, like all other status staves. Effect: Poison the opponent for five turns. Duh. The force staff is meant to make playing a cleric/troubadour much more...well, much more possible. While it seems good at first, a few crippling weaknesses (weakness 1: no doubling, and it gets worse from there) plague it and prevent it from being overpowered. (One of these is, naturally, there isn't a Steel Force staff...) The second is just a nice staff, and gives a combat D staff, something missing from FE. So, what'd'ya think? |

Interesting. If we did something about sleep/berserk staves' horrible amount of uses, this could be possible. |

I don't think changing the EXP would be a good idea, 'cuz either people who've been here a long time would get screwed, or new people would get screwed. As for the Staves... I'm not sure if custom staves would be a good idea, either. Though Staff users do get the short end of the stick. *will think it over* |

Oh man, I got this idea for staves after reading one of Shade's RPs. I'd forgotten about it 'til now. How about, when equipped with a staff, you can whack people with it, thereby damaging them? Each staff could do a different amount of damage. Examples: Heal staff. Dmg: 3 + 1/2 Mag. CoH: 95. Crit: 0. Rng: 1. Targets Def, not Res. Mend staff. Dmg: 5 + 1/2 Mag. CoH: 90. Crit: 0. Rng: 1. Targets Def, not Res. Staves would still have their regular healing/silencing/whatevering abilities, and be able to do damage (though not very much.) I thought of this for arena battles, when very few of the staves (except maybe Sleep or Silence) would be helpful. Not all staves would have to be able to do this. Then there's the question of WEXP. There are two ways we could do this: 1: As normal; staff loses 1 use and the wielder gains WEXP for one use. or 2: Whacking takes no uses from the staff, but the wielder of the staff gains no WEXP for it. The second one makes the most sense to me; after all, you wouldn't learn how to shoot an arrow by whacking your opponent over the head with the bow. Now, this is just a random thought. I really don't expect anything to come of it; just thought I'd bounce it off you guys and see what you thought. |

Oh yes, I almost forgot: A promoted unit gets 5 EXP for using a Heal staff, regardless of who uses it. For using a Mend staff: 6 EXP. Physic: 7 or 11 EXP, I can't remember which. I only know those three. There's probably a FAQ on GFAQs that has stuff like this in it. |

We do not use FE's exp system, anyway. Or wexp, for that matter. But I prefer Medi's idea, to be honest. |

Staff whacking... FF: CC, anyone? Though for some reason, hitting someone on the head with Curaga makes their HP go up. |

Hmm... I don't really like this idea. Here's why: 1. This board IS based on FE7, and you can't whack people with staves in FE7. 2. Venturing outside the given set of abilities changes the dymanics of the game. Would this be Fire Emblem if there was the ability to whack people with staves, or if we started making up staves? 3. If more staves are allowed, then there will be more and more and more and endlessly more ideas for staves. I guaruntee you, they will NOT stop. The Prf weapons are bad enough as it is. The requests will pile up, and they will NOT stop. Besides, there have been many more events lately. Why not just use Heal staves? |
