Me: Over the last few weeks, the overall interest in the gem of a classic has been rising steadily, with more and more people wanting to give it a whirl. You want to join em', mirite? Well, then read on. Now, just to be thorough, I'll include this as well. You can go to www.playasia.com or some other such place and import the cart, should you have a SNES and a translation guide handy. Before anything else, you need to get an emulator for the SNES. I use ZSNES myself. Emulators alone are actually perfectly legal, so I can link to them. Download that bugger and unzip it. The first thing you need to do is find the ROM. Of course, I can't just link you to one, so you have do a google search yourself. It's easier to find than you might think. Note: If ALL ELSE FAILS, then you CAN PM me about it, and I'll send it to you. HOWEVER, DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE THOROUGHLY SEARCHED FOR IT. After that, you'll probably want the patch, since without it, you probably can't understand a word of the game. Like the emulator, linking to the patch is no problemo. Click on the patch vo.85 in the FE4 column to download. EDIT: A new version of the patch was released recently. Download it here Now that you've assembled everything, you're ready to play. But not quite. To get the patch to work successfully YOU MUST do the following: 1. Place the patch (fe4.ips) and the ROM (*insert rom name here*.smc) into the same folder, and name them the same name. IE, fe4.ips and fe4.smc. 2. This is the most IMPORTANT part, and it tends to throw off almost everyone. ZIP UP THE FOLDER THAT THEY'RE IN. 3. Boot up ZSNES. Hit the load command, then browse through your directories until you find the ZIPPED folder that has the ROM (for convenience, just name the folder fe4.zip). With that done, everything should be translated. NOTE: The opening sequence is NOT translated, but the start menu should. If you see the New Record button after hitting start, then congratulations! If not, then go back and check to make sure you've done everything. Edit: Lippy has an alternate method: "Adder, just place the patch in the download file, and it'll work It saves the trouble of extracting, and then re-compressing." More on the game itself to come later. If a mod could sticky this, or something, I'd be grateful. Okay, now on to the game itself. Soo, just what is going on here? Good question. The game takes place on the continent of Judgral, which is divided into several countries and districts, the most notable of which is Grandbell. Most countries were founded by the direct descendents of the 12 Crusaders. The 12 Crusaders were the heroes of yore, who freed the world from a wave of darkness long ago. In Marpha castle, when all hope was lost, the gods descended from the heavens and granted 12 soldiers of the liberation army powers beyond imagination to save the world from darkness. Here's a pic of them (in a link because it's pretty big: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/Sabr...2_crusaders.jpg ![]() Tordo was granted the power of thunder, and received the mighty Thor Hammer. Fala became a master of fire, and received the revered Fala Flame. Sety received the powers of wind, and the wind tome of Holsety. Odo the swordsmen was granted the divine Balmunk, a golden sword with few equals. Hezul, the black knight, was granted the Demon Sword Mistholin. Baldo, the god of light, received the Holy Tyrfing, the most powerful sword in existance, even compared to the Balmunk and Misholin. The stalwart Neir was granted the Swanchinka, the mighty Axe. The two Siblings, Noba and Dain, were granted the Holy Gae Bolg and Gungnir, the Lance of the Heavens. Ulir, the god of archery, was given the Ichieval, the most powerful bow ever created. Blagi, the divine healer, was granted the Valkyrie Staff, which had powers so marvelous it could bring back the dead themselves. Lastly, Saint Heim, the leader of the Liberation Army, received the powers of Lord Narga herself, and the all-powerful Narga spellbook to combat the dark lord Lotousu himself. Together, the 12 crusaders drove the darkness out of the land, and rebuilt the land of Judgral. ![]() (Map courtesy of TJC. <3) To the North lies Silesia, kingdom of the winds. Founded by Holsety, it's natural secluded position, along with its Wind Mages and valiant Pegasus Knights, Silesia has long remained neutral in many conflicts. Silesia is currently governed by the much loved Queen Rahna. To the east of Silesia lies Isacc, founded by Crusader Odo. This nation is ruled by King Mananan. To the south of Isaac lies the Yied Desert, a deserted region of no-man's land where few live. However, it provides the only overland route between Silesia, Isacc, and Grandbell. To the south of Yied lies the Thracian peninsula, which is divided into 2 nations: The Manster District and Thracia. In the north, the lush and rolling plains of Manster were founded by Noba. To the south, the arid mountainous crags were made into a country by Dain, which soon became feared for its mercenary services and its Dragon Knights. Manster and Thracia have long been in conflict, with Thracia trying to gain control of the fertile northern half. King Cuan rules Manster while King Trabant rules Thracia. In the center of Judgral lies Grandbell, the most powerful nation on the continent. It is divided into several territories, which for the most part govern themselves, all answer to the captial of Barhara, where the descendents of Saint Heim rule. The highly regarded Prince Kult helps his ailing father to govern the land. In the southern reaches of Grandbell lie Chalphy and Jungby, founded by Baldo and Ulir. The current rulers are Lord Vylon and Lord Ring. Near the Thracian Peninsula lies Edda, governed by Father Claude of Blagi Descent. To the North lies Freege, founded by Tordo and currently ruled by the avaricious Lord Reptor, Prime Minister of Grandbell. Near Yied lies Velthomer, founded by Fala. Its feared Rot Ritter, the Royal Fire Knights, is commanded by the young and ambitious Lord Alvis. Near Barhara, the captital, is Dozel, ruled by those of Neir's descent. Duke Lango To the South of Grandbell lies Miletos, a sovereign district of merchants and wealth, with no Crusader descent. In the southwest lies Verdane, another country founded by none of crusader lineage. Many regard them as Savages, but King Batou does an excellent job of keeping the peace and handling public relations. In the northwestern portion of Judgral is Agustria, dominion of the lords. Like Grandbell, Agustria is divided into several territories that for teh most part govern themselves, but answer to the capitol of Agusty, which is now ruled by the newly ascended King Shagall, a crafty and powerhungry ruler who was rumored to kill his own father to ascend the throne. Nearest Verdane lies Nodion, the royal family of which is of Hezul descent. The current ruler, King Eltoshian, is a close friend of King Cuan of Lenster and Prince Sigurd of Chalphy. While his loyalty is unshakable, Eltoshian has doubts about his new kings actions and intentions. Near the western coast lies Heirhein, ruled by Prince Elliot and his power hungry father. They go along with the king on whatever he says, provided they get something out of it. North of Heirhein lies Anphony, ruled by the greedy and cold Duke Macbeth. He does anything to turn a profit. Near the mountains that seperate Agustria and Grandbell lies Mackily, ruled the by the loyal Bishop Clement. North of mackily is Agusty, the capital, ruled by king Shagall. At the northern tip of Agustria lies Madino and Silvail. On the Northern Island lies the Tower of Blagi and the base of the infamous Orgahill Pirates. Er, that's nice. But what does this have to do with anything? I'd like to know what's actually going on. Patience, patience! The story opens about 7 and a half centuries since the time of the crusaders. In a sudden fit of militarism, Isaac attacks the defenseless town of Darna. Due to public outcry, Prince Kult of Grandbell orders the nations military to engage Isaac. Along with him goes Lord Vylon of Chalphy and Lord Ring of Jungby. Left to watch Chalphy castle is Prince Sigurd, and a few loyal soldiers. However, things don't go quite so well after that. Suddenly betraying many diplomatic ties, Verdane invades southern Grandbell with a large army. Sigurd has no choice but to fight back, and our story begins. Alright, alright, enough about the story. Just what's different about this from the other FEs I've played? Aww, I was on a role.Anyway, there are several nuances that you probably won't be familiar with. -Maps are huge. REally huge. There are only 12 chapters in the game, but each is long enough for about 2 or 3 normal missions in a GBA FE. -The victory condition is always to capture the main enemy base. Likewise, if an enemy reaches the gates of your home base with no one defending it, you lose. This always in effect, so you'd best leave someone to defend your main castle. -The level of your character does not reset when they promote, they stay at that level, eg: you promote Ayra at lvl 20, she becomes a Lvl 20 Swordmaster, not lvl 1 again. this means you sahould promote as early as possible. Also, prepromos are usually good in this game as they are normal units with the promo gains added on. -There is no trading between units. However, you can sell stuff to the pawn shop and buy it back with another unit for double the price. -Each unit has his or her own supply of gold, which cannot be traded (except between Lovers). Therefore, money management becomes quite important. -Weapons still break, but when they do, they don't just disappear. They become broken (and lord help you if your equipped weapon breaks in a heated battle.). To prevent this from happening, you can repair your weapons at any town and restore their uses back to full (which is generally 50.). This costs money, however. -The Arena is quite a bit different. Instead of abuse, you can only fight about 7 foes in the arena per chapter. Each foe becomes tougher than the last, but the rewards get better (munniez! Lots of it!). Each character can fight in the arena in any town as much as 7 times before there's no one left to fight. If you lose in the arena, your character doesn't die, but gets its HP reduced to and is booted from the competion. You may leave off at any time and come back once your characters are stronger. Using the Arena = GOOOOOD. -There is no such thing as Con, unfortunately. Thus, if you have a weapon with a weight of 12, then you lose 12 AS (attack speed). Thus, Swords and Wind Magic are your friends. >_> Axe users and Fire users suffer from this. A lot. -As you get more kills on a weapon, the number next to the star goes up. If you get 50 kills (quite easy with some weapons), then there is a chance for the weapon to get a critical hit. -Critical hits are much different. You can only get a critical if your weapon allows it, or you have the necessary skill. Some weapons, like the Mistholin, lets you crit without any of that. -Not all units can DA. For a unit to do so, the Pursuit skill is needed, or a hero weapon. -There are no stat boostes, but you can get something better: Stat Rings. These give you +5 to any given stat, no matter what, as long as it's in your inventory. It even lets you exceed caps. Some rings grant skills instead of stats, like the pursuit ring. - Rather than just a 2x or 3x bonus, bows have auto-criticals against flying units. This is also the same when you use a Knight Killer against a unit on horseback or an Iron Cutter (Armourslayer) on a General/Baron. -Skills! These little things are character unique, and allow for various battle related bonuses, like DAing and criticalling. A list will come later. Big Shield-Blocks some enemy attacks. The only way you'll ever tink. Only available to Generals, Barons, and Emperors. Pursuit-Enables a DA if you have more AS. Doesn't matter if it's 1 more or 20 more. Continue-You can get an extra attack on top of everything else if you're really quick. Don't know the exact formula. Steal-Steals the enemy's gold supply if the attack connects. Only available to thieves. Dance-If the dance command is used, any units next to the unit using this get to move again. Only available to dancers. Unless you wanna hack the game and see an Emperor dance. >_> Charisma: Units within 3 spaces of the unit get a 10% support bonus. Awareness: Nullifies special attacks, like criticals, Meteor Sword, and auto-crits (IE, a flying unit with awareness is not weak to arrows.) Prayer: Evade goes through the roof when HP gets too low. Ciritcal: You may land a critical blow if your skill is high. Ambush: When your HP dips below half, you get the first attack, no matter who engaged the fighting. Duel: If you're really quick, you can keep the fight going for more rounds than it normally would go. Sometimes more of a buren than anything. Meteor Sword: Ohhhh yeaaah. This lets you sometimes get 5 consecutive attacks in one round. If you DA, you can get up to 10 hits. With a hero sword, you can get up to 20. Moonlight Sword: Almost as cool as its cosmic cousin, this skill sometimes negates the foe's defense. Very useful in boss fights. Solar sword: The rarest and least useful of the "Celestial Body Sword" family, this enables you to sometimes steal HP and it to your own during a battle, a la earth sword/Rizziah. Life: This skill enables the unit to regain 5-10 HP per turn, free of charge. Not available to any of your units unless you hack. :( Elite: OH HELL YEAH. This skill grants the unit double experience points. Bargain: Rare, but hella useful. Cuts all shop prices in half. Wait, what about Lovers? Ah, yes, lovers... One of the most unique features in the game. It gets its own section, doncha know. So, in the first generation, love is all important, as it determines what growths and weapons the kids get. How do you get characters to fall in love? It's a lot simpler than it sounds. Love goes up automatically during the first 50 turns. However, some pairings have a much faster love growth than others. IE, Midale and Edain will fall in love much faster than, say, Arden and Edain (you bastard. >_>). The fastest way to get people to fall in love? Easy. Just make sure that they're standing next to eachother during the first 50 turns of a mission. Alright. But who's best paired with who? That's a tall order. Really, it depends on your personal preferences. However, I'll give you a guideline to what works for me. MidaleXEdain HolynXAyra BrigidXJamuka LevinXFury AzelXTiltyu Fin/BeowulfXLachesis ClaudeXSylvia Ethlin and Dierde are already in love. Could you go a bit more indepth? With pleasure. Let's take it one female at a time, shall we? Edain Predestined Pairings: Midale: This is an excellent pairing. Lester inherits the Hero Bow (if Edain was in love by chapter 4. If not, shame on you. It's easy.) and great growths (especially in speed and luck.) Rana also excels in healing, and later to a lesser extent, fighting due to inheriting pursuit from Midale. Jamuka: Another goody. See Midale, except with even more luck and speed, and Lester also gets that yummalicious killer bow. Practically interchangable. Azel: Eh... not so good, but by no means horrible. Lester... is pretty much doomed. Azel has almost no str growth. On the other hand, Rana becomes excellent. Certainly worth a shot if you want to try something different, but Lester sucks. A lot. I prefer having too good characters compared to one 1337 one and one crappy one. Tiltyu: Courtesy of KJ Azel: Both kids end up with high magic, skill and speed, with decent luck for Arthur and great luck for Tinny. They will also get Pursuit, a skill their mother lacked. Their defense/resistance is pretty poor, and their HP is decent at best, but their dodge will keep 'em alive most of the time, especially Tinny's. Wrath is abit risky, but usable. Adder's commentary: IMO, the best pairing for Tiltyu. Both kids are rather great. KJ pretty much covered it. Claude: Pretty similar to Azel, but no Pursuit. Arthur does get the valkyrie staff, and res and luck is better for both, particularly Arthur. Tinny loses some magic/speed, whereas Arthur only loses speed. But the lack of Pursuit is bad. Adder: Again, KJ covered it. However, it's worth noting that Arthur has a notable lack of starting weapons. Lex: Plotwise, it's probably the best predestined pairing, simply due to them being Reptor and Langbart's kids. And they joined the rebel army and then fell in love, as opposed to the cliché of it being the other way around. Stat-wise... magic is bad. Very bad. Resistance ain't too shiny, but that's not as big. Everything else is average to good (except Arthur's speed, but elite will keep it ahead for a good while), with pretty awesome defense. Most notably, they get Wrath, Ambush and Elite. Elite will keep their HP and defense tankish, despite their lacking bases. Ambush and Wrath will make them invincible killing machines at half HP, as long as they can kill on a crit. Hitting won't be a problem, thanks to Tordo blood. Investing in a magic ring (or two, if using both) and Thoron/Elwind would be a good idea. Adder: Indeed, this pairing rules the roost, skill wise. The Ambush/Wrath combo is quite 1337. Tankyness is fun, as well. But magic and speed suffers quite a bit in Arthur. Less so in Tinny. Lachesis: Courtesy of Sabre Beowulf: Delmudd and Nanna will both get high strength and everything except magic and res should grow well too. Both kids get Pursuit, Charge and Charisma skills and Delmudd gets Rapid Hit on promotion. Unfortunately, their while their stat growths aren't bad, they aren't particularly good either. Strangely enough, last time I got this, Delmudd was terrible but Nanna was absolutely amazing... Noish: Like with Beowulf, high strength is given out, but Delmudd also gets good defences (Nanna gets average) and the skills passed down are not bad too. Give Delmudd a Pursuit Ring and he becomes a damn good fighter. Deu: There are two main problems with this pairing. The first is that Deu is hard to level up in the 1st Gen without Boss Abuse and the second is that the kids can't get Sun Sword. Otherwise though, it's very good. Both kids get Bargain, which is a very nice skill to have, weapons can be inhertied and it's easy to make. Try this out sometime if you're using Deu. Finn: Stat growths are pretty good for Delmudd, but not so much for Nanna, though her strength and luck will be high. Pursuit, Prayer and Charisma are inherited, which are good skills, particularly Prayer. Unfortunately, it's a very difficult pairing to make (only 2 chapters to make it in) and Delmudd can't inherit any weapons from Finn. It's worth noting that FinnxLachesis is the canon pairing (Nanna is Finn's daughter in FE5) Arya: Courtesy of Zap Arya is the first of two Swordfighters you can aquire in the first generation. Both of her kids, Lakche and Skasher, are also Swordfighters. As a job class, Swordfighters innately have Pursuit as an ability, so don't worry about getting a father with Pursuit. Plus, Arya will pass on Awareness and - more importantly - Meteor Hit to both of her children. Generally, you'll want somebody with good physical stats, and possibly good HP to compensate for Arya's relatively low growth. Sunlight Hit or Moonlight Hit would also be nice, since those abilities can only be passed on to kids who are either Swordfighters or Thieves. Arya/Holyn Holyn's another swordfighter, like Arya, and is debatably one of her best pairings. HP is not a problem, as Holyn is tied with Sigurd and Cuan (both of whom always have the same lover) for the highest HP growth of the first generation. Ski will fire upwards like a rocket, as well. As if that wasn't enough, Holyn happens to have Moonlight Hit, and he'll pass it on to both kids. Before you get excited, though, Moonlight Hit and Meteor Hit can't activate at the same time. However, it's still awesome to have two characters in your party with Moonlight Hit. This pairing's easy to make - heck, in Chapter 3, Holyn can talk to Arya, and not only will they become lovers faster after that, but Arya will receive a Hero's Sword, which is the FE4 version of the Brave Sword, except it's got 3 Wt and 100 Hit. If it's your first time through the game, then this pairing is a great choice for Arya. Arya/Dew Str, Ski, Spd, Def, and Luck will all rise very rapidly, thanks to Dew's growths in those areas (although Lakche to a slightly lesser extent than Skasher, due to Dew not having holy blood). Plus, if you promoted Dew, Skasher can inherit any of the swords from the first generation. To top it off, Dew passes on Sunlight Hit to both kids! However, Dew is the only male in the first generation who actually has an HP growth that's even worse than Arya's. They're not easy to hook up, either. No conversations at any point whatsoever. If neither of those cons has swayed you, though, then go for this pairing. The results can be amazing. Arya/Lex While the Spd growth may suffer in this pairing, the base stat and promotion gains of both kids will help to balance this out. Def will shoot through the roof, thanks to the Neir blood. Lex's HP growth is pretty good, as well, so the kids will both have good HP. Skasher won't inherit anything from Lex, though, so you may want to consider buying him a couple of good swords in this pairing. Lex has Elite and Ambush for his personal skills, but Ambush is really just an added bonus for the kids in this pairing compared to Elite. Much like Arya/Holyn, Lex can also talk to Arya in Chapter 3, and give her the Hero's Sword. You can only get one of the convos, though, so don't think you can just get two Hero's Swords (although there is another one you can get later). This one may actually be slightly easier to get than Arya/Holyn, seeing as there's more time that Lex and Arya to be together. The growths for both kids will be quite uber, so give this one a shot if you're feeling adventurous. Arya/Noish Noish only has one ability - Critical. However, Arya provides all the skills necessary for the kids, and Critical is just icing on the cake when coupled with Meteor Hit. Skasher can get some swords from Noish, as well. However, this pairing has one glaring flaw - the growths. While none of them will be particularly bad (except maybe Spd or Res), none of them will be all that great. However, if you're the kind of person who would do Lex/Tiltyu just for the ability set, then this pairing might be right for you, as well. You'll never know until you try it out. Okay, I got that. But what does it all do? Several things. It determines the kid's growth rates (which is father's growths + mothers/2 if male, vice versa if female, except in a few cases.) It also determines the kid's holy blood (if any.) and starting gold and inventory. IE, if Ayra is in love with Holyn, then Lakche will get what's in Ayra's inventory and some of her gold, along with major Odo Blood. Also, it determines skills. The kids get all of their parent's skills. Any other places I can get information? Of course. Here's a few examples. http://www.eaichu250.superbusnet.com/fe4.php : One of the best FE sites on the net. You can find pretty much anything you need there. http://winds.westhost.com/playful/feholy/scripts.html : Script up to Chapter 6, if you get the cart/want to know the plotline. It's missing Chapter 4 though and the person doing them is no longer updating, which is a shame because it's very good, and it actually seems more like a Nintendo translation than the patch is. http://www.lemondedect.lmdp.net/fire-emble...xte_fin_FE4.htm : Ending script, since that's one of the main parts the patch doesn't translate. As you'd expect, huge, HUGE spoilers! DO NOT READ unless you don't mind spoiling the story/you're about to finish the game. http://www.lemondedect.lmdp.net/fr-fe4/acceuil.htm : Yes, I did notice it's in French, but if you can understand it, it's a very good site; and even if you can't, you should be able to find your way around. http://s12.invisionfree.com/The_Jugdral_Campaign/index.php?: A sister board to FEABL, it follows FE4 battle rules and is consequently a lot different from FEABL. Join up...please. *is shot for advertising* Seriously, the mods and admins at TJC know a lot about FE4 (and other FE games not released out of Japan) and we can help out with any problems you have. FEABL members should also be able to help you out, and GFAQs has a guide on FE4 by Victory (the one at the top of the list) which can help newcomers out a lot. That's great. But... um... *shifty eyes* Any way to hack this bugger? 'course. Normal hex picked up from user's guide won't work, but here's a little something better: http://www.filelodge.com/files/room12/297423/Editor.zip |

Yes, borked carts are bad. My first one had a glitch. I was at CH4, and I randomly turned on my SNES to find that all my data was deleted. I started another game...and my data was deleted halfway through CH1. So I had to send it back to Japan and wait a month to get a fixed one back. As for translation, there's summaries and partial scripts all over there. I've only played the game in Japanese, yet I know exactly what's going on in the story. |

Skasher might get low skill, but swords are very accurate anyway. Plus, Noish needs more attention. He only gets about 2 lines in the game. Januka/Edain For her, it's either Jamuka or Mideel, both of whom are excellent. Jamuka gives very good luck (overkilled to the max) and good HP and defense. Really though, it's a toss-up between the two. For Lachesis...honestly, I'd go with one of the predestined ones, or perhaps Deu. For Sylvia, again, I would go with the predestined pairing. However, I hear Azel works out well, but I don't recommend Levin, since you get Holsety too late for it to be useful. Fury/Levin You'd be crazy not to get this pairing, unless you want Arthur to get Holsety instead. In that case, either Azel or Claude. Bridget/Holyn I haven't actually done this one yet (I'm doing so this time through) but I've heard good things about it. Tiltyu/Lex Lets see now. Elite + Ambush/Wrath combination + good strength (for swords after promotion) and defence = one unit army. This pairing is awesome! The only bad thing about it is low magic, which can be easily solved with a magic ring. As for bad pairings...be very careful who you pair Claude with. A lot of pairings with him turn out very bad. |

I'll do Tiltyu's. Azel: Both kids end up with high magic, skill and speed, with decent luck for Arthur and great luck for Tinny. They will also get Pursuit, a skill their mother lacked. Their defense/resistance is pretty poor, and their HP is decent at best, but their dodge will keep 'em alive most of the time, especially Tinny's. Wrath is abit risky, but usable. Claude: Pretty similar to Azel, but no Pursuit. Arthur does get the valkyrie staff, and res and luck is better for both, particularly Arthur. Tinny loses some magic/speed, whereas Arthur only loses speed. But the lack of Pursuit is bad. |

Lachesis' predestined pairings Beowulf: Delmudd and Nanna will both get high strength and everything except magic and res should grow well too. It's worth noting that FinnxLachesis is the canon pairing (Nanna is Finn's daughter in FE5) |

It technically isn't, seeing as Finn isn't there to have a conversation in Chapter 5, but it is apparently what happened in FE5 (unless Nanna was adopted by Finn, which actually makes a lot of sense). |

Arya's Decent Pairings Arya is the first of two Swordfighters you can aquire in the first generation. How's that? Need more, less, different stuff, what? |

Added in Zap and my pairings for Ayra/Lachesis (edit those as you see fit Adder) and put in the picture of the 12 Crusaders. Also, I noticed a small error in your description. Cuan isn't the king of Manster, it's actually his father, who... was killed after Sigurd died when the Empire and Thracia attacked IIRC. /:newbieshield: EDIT: Adder, I've got links to sites that have good information for FE4 http://www.eaichu250.superbusnet.com/fe4.php : One of the best FE sites on the net. |

Critical pwns so much. If you're just letting Noish use it, you have no idea how useful it is on a swordfighter/master. Armies WILL fall, no doubt about it. Besides, their stats aren't bad. Both get good strength growths, decent skill and very good defence (Lachke can only get higher with Lex). Their only weakness (compared to the other fathers) is thier low skill growth (which is still 75%), and their low res/magic growths, one of which doesn't matter and the other is typical of all fathers not named Claude. |

Yes, do it, do it now, Holsety compells you >> However, if, and only if, you want Artur to get Holsety, then be sure to pair Fury up with Azel if you want a decent Sety, cause every other father will make him suck (other than Claude, to a lesser extent >_>) |

@ Sabre: True, but having a weapon on each of them with lots of kills has the same effect. Ayra's Hero Sword and Sigurd's Silver Sword are two perfect choices to give to them via the pawn shop. @ Soul: Unfortunately, a pairing with Claude would have the added effect of making Fee completely suck. At least pairing with Azel will give her Fala blood and still-decent Spd, while giving Sety fairly good growths. Levin still wins out, though, because her Spd then becomes insane with better Ski, as well, while the only thing Azel has over Levin as a parent of Fee is the Mag growth. |

Yeah I know, that's why I said to a lesser extent, pairing Claude with Fury will make Fee suck whilst making Sety only decent, and another bad thing is the lack of skills Claude passes on. There are really only 2 decent partners for Fury, and unless you want Artur to get Holsety, you should be pairing Fury with Levin >.> |

Yes, but you get Artur earlier, so there is more time for Holsety to be used, heck, if you pass the Holsety onto Artur, then the Holsety will have the most use time out of any other legendary, otherwise, the Ichival will get the most use time >.> But yeah, this is really the only reason you'd pair Levin with Titlyu, it's a question of whether you want to get Holsety really early, or wait, cause Sety will make better use of it than Artur will. I won't lie about that. |

Arthur is a mounted unit too. While it doesn't make up for the horrid caps, it does help is overall mobility and ability to make hit and runs on the enemy. Yes, we all know about the Leg ring + Knight ring combo, but Arthur doesn't need 'em and can use those two extra inventory spaces for stat booster rings like the Speed ring to compensate his low caps. Arthur only gets pursuit, but pursuit is the most handy skill in the game, arguably. But yeah. Fury's best pairing is Levin. Sety has the right caps for the job. |

Arthur is pretty useful with Holsety, actually. Early on because you have a lot easier time in CH7 and the beginning of CH8, and later on because he can do hit and run Holsety while toting a bunch of stat boosting rings in his inventory. Oh yeah. |

True, Druid, but if Azel is his father, he still doesn't exactly miss out on evasion. Azel's the second fastest male in the first generation (next to Levin {durr}), so he'll still pass on a lot of Spd to Arthur. ... Actually, another pro of pairing Tiltyu with Levin that I just thought of would lie in Tinny. She'd have minor Holsety blood, which would give her the ability to use Tornado after promoting. That might actually be the only way Tornado would see any serious usage... hmm... |

I haven't tried Azel/Tiltyu, myself, so I can't comment. Though Rex/Tiltyu can easily end up being really bad for Arthur. Like, 9 magic at level 30 bad. Since Tinny gets more of Tiltyu's magic growths, she doesn't get screwed as much, and wrath + ambush pwns. |

Yeah. Arthur is REALLY bad later on in that pairing, although his starting Mag can get him through CH6 and most of CH7. It's generally better to just use Tinny once you get her in that pairing, and she won't be too hard to train thanks to Elite. |

She'd take a rather nasty hit to Mag, though, compared to Azel. And really, that's what her father needs to pass down the most. No Pursuit, either. Nor will Thoron get much use, but Tornado's better, I suppose. |

Azel's really the only father who can pass on any signifigant amount of Mag to both kids, though. Levin and Claude both lose most of the growth on their daughters, but Azel has the Fala blood. |
