I have a question about portrait editing.; Also applies for sprite editing.

Is there any way to convert one color to another when color editing? It's damn tedious to change colors, paintbucket by paintbucket...
I wish I were what I was when I was trying to become what I am now.

I make iron women out of iron maidens

Click on the eyedropper tool in Paint.

Right-click the color you want.

Left-click the color you don't want.

Click on the eraser.

Hold down the right mouse button as you go over your portrait.

Ta-da!

Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice."

Ok, hop aboard then. Adventure awaits.

I only use the eraser trick on sheets, because usually I'll individually recolor each patch, depending on how I want it shaded.

Yeah, I've had to do all mine bit by bit. When you're colorblind, and nearly kill yourself trying to tell all the little boxes apart, it's not very fun...

Therefore, this topic is win.

If it's a recessive gene, don't both parents need it?

No. Colourblindness is a sex-linked gene, my dad only needs 1 recessive gene to have it. Since he's normal, he doesn't. My mum is colourblind, so both her sex chromosomes have the recessive trait for colourblindness, meaning Sabre was doomed to inherit it. Since I got one of my mum's recessive genes, and my dad's dominant gene, I'm only a carrier.

Oh, and that's red/green colourblindness, not the full package. <<;;

At least, that's what it said in my text book.

*goes to dig it up*

*smacks Nick*

Red/green colourblindness is SEX-LINKED.

Females = XX
Males = XY

Only X genes can carry genes such as the one for red/green colourblindness. Since the gene is recessive, the female has to have both recessive forms to be colourblind. The male can only have ONE gene. If recessive, they are red/green colourblind. If dominant, they are normal. My dad is normal, therefore he has the one dominant form. But since the X chromosome on Sabre came from my mother's egg and she is colourblind meaning she has the recessive gene on both chromosomes, means that he was doomed to have red/green colourblindness, same as my big brother.

Geez, do people even listen when I explain stuff anymore?

I was posting when you posted that, DAMNIT! I wasm aking the thing in paint. Plus, my stupid science teamcher cramemd in chromosomes in at the end of the year. The only reason I know about how normal genes are disturibted because Il ooekd ahead when I finshed my lesson before everyone else.

So, lemme get this straight.....Sabre's(And your?) children have a chance to e colourblind if he has a child with somone that carries the gene or is red/green colourblind. You know, I'll findo ut next yeari n my new school. My brain hurts.

Since I can't do the Xs with little cs and big Cs above them, I'll stick with two cs for girls, and one for boys.

My genes are this: Cc

I'm a carrier, I am not colourblind but I can pass it on.

Now, my sons, regardless of the father, have a 50/50 chance of inheriting the condition from me. My daughters depend on the father. If he is C, then my daughters will either be CC or Cc, a carrier or normal. If the father is colourblind, c, then my daughters will either be Cc or cc, either a carrier or have it.

Sabre's sons can't inherit it from him. However, if the mother is a carrier then there is a possibility they'll be colourblind(either Cc or cc), if the mother is normal, they'll definitely be a carrier (Cc). If the mother is colourblind, then the daughters will definitely be colourblind (cc).

...And that's my biology lesson for the day over.

*wanders off*

Adder's tutorial is ancient and broken links now (EDIT: *checks* Seems not. I seem to remember it being so though). Plus, it doesn't say about tricks and quick tips, it was a beginner's tutorial mainly.

And the Intellectual exchange thing is actually a good idea.
