I'm...HUNGRY!

OOC: I feel that I should warn you that this will be a long post. Please don't skim over it, though.

In a matter of moments, Clark and the armored knight had succeeded in clearing a path to the throne, and the leader of the rebels had scarcely enough time to react before Myke was upon him, sword in hand. Alan struck Myke successfully, but it merely scratched his armor. With his target squaring off with him at close quarters, Myke easily had the upper hand, and ended his opponent's life swiftly and unflinchingly.

As Alan lay dying on the floor, the cruel voices in his head faded away, and he could see the faint outlines of the faces of his tribesmen growing clearer each moment in the distance. When Clark examined him to confirm he was dead, he noticed there was a soft smile on his face.

After their leader had been defeated, the last few dregs of the rebel army were quickly subdued. The surviving palace guards prepared to take them to the dungeon cells below, but Alexander stepped forth and stopped them. "They've been through enough today. Let them return to their homes."

Clark did a double-take. "You've got to be kidding me," he said, completely incredulous. "They were trying to kill you!"

"They were misguided and violent, yes," Alexander replied, "but I will not harm my citizens. They suffered under my father, and my uncle before him."

"Look," growled Clark, "it's great that you want to be such a noble ruler, but your pacifist bullsh*t won't save you when those men come back for your head tonight."

"With all due respect, milord," Cobalt interjected, "he has a point. I doubt the townspeople will suddenly be tame simply because you've allowed them to go free. Look what they did to the guards. Do you see the condition the survivors are in? Have you seen Valerie?"

Alexander was speechless. Growing more impatient, Clark continued his verbal assault. "And another thing, pal, if you're this town's leader, why didn't you see this coming?!"

His face toward the ground, Alexander replied, "I was...away. I only recently learned of my father's death. I returned when I heard of unrest, but I had no ide--"

"You're damn right you didn't! Half your castle and one of your advisers were killed today, and where the hell were you?!"

Cobalt stepped between Clark and Alexander, his blade drawn. "I'm going to have to ask you to please calm down and take a step back."

Clark glared daggers at him, then sheathed his own sword and turned to leave. "Everyone, we'll be taking our leave of this place. I'm not going to risk any of you getting killed by rioting civilians." Under his breath, he added, "Auncet was a prick, but at least he had control."

OOC: So, yeah...I kinda wanted to do more with Alan before he died, but then I never really got around to it. Oh well.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OOC: SO SORRY GOATFISH ASSUME NO TIME HAS ELAPSED

"Yes, I suppose we should get started," replied Kajan. "We'll split into four teams of three and fan out over the surrounding area. Our current intel indicates there has been activity to the east and to the north, so your team will take one of those two areas and mine will take the other."

Kajan felt a feeling of giddiness run through his veins as he prepared for the routine. Once again he assumed the position of the hunter, but this time, he would not fail.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OOC: SAME HERE ARGH

Throughout the early hours of the morning, Ognus occasionally prodded Melanie's limp form with a stick, testing to see if she had regained consciousness. As the sun rose higher, he scowled, irritated at how boring his shift had been, and returned to the barracks to find Brannan.

Once there, he saw that Alice had begun making breakfast, and that Brannan was sitting at the table. He sat across from him, greeted Alice, and spoke to Brannan in a low tone.

"She's still out cold. After breakfast, we'll bring Jane out to her and see what we can do."

Back in the armory, Melanie opened one eye slightly and, having confirmed that her captors had left her alone, took in her surroundings. She could tell that she was in a small building, and from the many weapons lying around, it was either a shop or a storehouse.

Melanie struggled slightly against her bonds, testing them for weakness. She knew it would take quite some time to break free, and she was better off waiting for nightfall. In the meantime, she would continue to pretend to be asleep for as long as she could.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lug recounted the bricks in his cell for the seventeenth time that day, trying to drown out the irritating voices of the guards with his thoughts. A loud clang near his head brought him crashing back to reality.

"Heh! Look at 'im jump!" With a snaggletoothed grin, the guard beat upon the cell bars once more with Lug's mallet. Lug clutched the side of his head and yelled, "If you don't drop my axe right now, I swear that when I get out of here I'll break your skull with it!"

The guard paused for a moment, laughed heartily, and resumed his torment of Lug with a newfound glee.

XEQ watches and listens as Clark argues with the noble-looking man about leadership and prisoners. It does not fear the rebels. None of the mercenaries seemed to have trouble with these angry townsfolk. It also knows that their weapons would be ineffective even if they could reach the archer.
When the commander decides to leave, then, the dark-clothed enigma is ready to go. Nobody here is supposed to be shot at this point. Maybe there will be something to do on the way back to Karaisali.

OOC: oh no sweat. the only problem is remembering what exactly was going on, lol.

-----

Weyler shook his head, smiling at the ridiculous exchange between Clark and Alexander.

"There's nothing to be upset about, Clark. We were paid to examine the area, not teach the man how to lord over peasants. He may very well deserve his head on a pike, for his stubbornness if not for his poor ruling."

He looked the group's temporary allies over once more, sighed, and turned to follow Clark.

-----

Gaddiel nodded, thinking the plan over.

"Sounds good. I'm ready to get out in the field again." He turned his head and spat to the side. "I'll take whichever direction you'd like me to, I only ask you keep DuGrine in a different group. Don't know what to expect of him after that little incident earlier, and I'll be honest with you, if he starts anything with me, I won't take any prodding to finish it."

---------

Brannan didn't move as Ognus spoke to him, and offered a slight nod of his head as a response. It was after this that he greeted him aloud.

"Good morning, Ognus. Sleepwell last night?"

Charge!

(OOC: Whoo, I am back and ready to RP. At my regular slow pace.)

Serena

Serena fell back as the other mercenaries surged forward on the stairway, deciding to leave the rest of the fight to the big boys. She was getting worn out from fighting civilians anyway. She expected jobs like this, of course, but there was nothing better than experiencing the real thing. It wasn't something she wanted to repeat. So she sheathed her sort and sat her ass on the ground, reaching into a pouch to pull out a couple of multi-colored stones. She began juggling absentmindedly as she watched Clark and the others defeat the rest of their enemies.

Then Clark began yelling and she dropped her rocks, losing control for just a moment. Hurriedly packing them away, she got on her feet and ran over to watch the verbal beatdown that was going on. She silently cheered him on, obediently standing behind the others as Clark continued to yell. Finally, the chief turned to leave and she hopped up to walk next to him with a big grin on her face. "Nice speech, boss."

Pretend I put something witty here.

OOC: Now, I was going to have a Tookie/Lilane support here, but I decided against that since the event I had planned for it may work better a bit later on.

---

Having fallen back a little way to prevent anyone wanting to rearrange his face from doing so while he was preoccupied, Tookie set himself to tearing that arrow out of his shoulder. Unfortunately for him, well, it was removing a sharp object from his shoulder. With all the surgical precision of someone lacking medical training and equipment. At best, this would sting. At worst...

...

...

...

FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU--

OH GOD OW OW SH*T F*CK OW F*CK I HATE ARROWS GOD F*CKING DAMN YOU TO HELL SH*T OW OW F*CK OW

"Damn, that feels good," Tookie muttered as he finally removed the offending shaft, pocketing it as a souvenir, "Now to, uh, try and stop the bleeding." He untied the black jumper from his waist, tearing the lower part off to be used as a makeshift bandage until he could get more proper medical attention. Tying it around the wound, and then tying the jumper back around his waist, he overheard Clark shouting at someone over how to deal with the rebels. The correct answer was to gut them as an example and be done with it, but whoever Clark was yelling at wasn't getting the idea. Clark, Myke and the others soon
came back, though, which was more than enough proof for Tookie that it was time to leave these people to be finished off when the rebels eventually returned.

---

OOC: I will edit in stuff for the others later, just wanted to have something from someone for now. Tookie's a much more fun character to write than Myke, sadly. >_>

I'm...HUNGRY!

OOC: Sorry for the delay, everyone...I've been running all around campus trying to sort out the mess of changing majors and adjusting schedules and such, but I'm good to go now.

Clark was positively fuming as they left the main hall of the castle. Serena found her way to his side almost immediately, though, and his mood lifted considerably. He turned to reply to her, and said, "I shouldn't have had to say anything in the first place. We might have a tough time getting out of here because of his mistakes."

Sure enough, a small group of peasants was gathered outside the doors of the castle. Many of them were very young men, or women who looked like they were the wives of the rebels. Most of them carried some sort of crude weaponry, such as a pitchfork or a spade. Clark grimaced at the sight, but betrayed none of his inner emotions.

Before the mob could get itself worked up, Clark said calmly, "My companions and I are leaving now. If you attempt to stop us, I will kill you--" Clark drew his sword and unsheathed his dagger with his other hand, "--as brutally as possible." The peasants balked, and it looked like the mercenaries would leave unhindered, until one adolescent charged him with a loud battle cry, his pitchfork pointed straight ahead.

In one swift movement, Clark batted away the pitchfork with his sword and viciously jammed the knife into his challenger's neck, then pulled it to the side, leaving a large gash in his neck. He twitched on the ground and died a few moments later.

Clark wiped his dagger off on the grass, then sheathed it as well as his sword and began to walk away. "XEQ," he said over his shoulder, "please take the rear. Shoot anyone who comes too close."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kajan sighed. "He's just bitter that I outrank him now. He's so caught up in maintaining his social status that he hasn't considered the possibility that he's just too unskilled to be a leader." Now he's taking it out on Gaddiel... This mission had too much urgency to be stymied by bickering. "I'll take the north and bring Jason with me. You'll lead the group to the east."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ognus nodded. "Didn't wake up even once, Brannan. I had an unusual dream last night; I think I should ask Jane about its meaning later."

"I didn't know she could interpret dreams!" Alice piped in. "She must've been an amazing student at her academy. I've been having some odd dreams lately myself. Maybe I'll talk to her too!" She scooped an egg out of her pan and laid it flat on a plate next to a piece of ham and placed in on the table in front of Brannan. "Eat up!" she said cheerfully. "Oh, and help yourself to the biscuits!" Alice added, pointing to the bowl in the middle of the table.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The castle guards quickly shut the doors behind the mercenaries and barred them, preventing any other citizens from entering. Alexander was left standing at the base of the throne, with several corpses strewn about. Clark was right, of course, but his words stung. Now he was finally home, but it seemed as though his reign would be no better than his father's.

Cobalt put his hand on Alexander's shoulder. "Don't let that lout trouble you, milord. Let's get this place cleaned up now."

Alexander smiled weakly and went about moving the dead away from the main hall.

Gaddiel nodded again." 'Preciate it. I haven't worked up the patience to deal with his kind just yet. But hell, could've lost worse things after a break from the service."

He looked over his shoulder at the inn. "I'll grab my gear and wake a few of the men, then. Shouldn't take me too long to get 'em up in the air. Unless you want us all to head out at once. Damn, I really have gotten impatient...give me the word when you're ready. I'll be with the wyverns."

----

Brannan smiled at Alice and thanked her quickly, then reached for a biscuit.
"Really, now? She didn't strike me as one of those mystic types. Though I'll admit I haven't been around her enough to know anything beyond my first impression of her, which, ah, isn't too flattering. Wonderful qualities for a mercenary, mind you...but as a person in general, maybe not so much."

Brannan wanted to keep the conversation going. Many of his comrades possessed some mysterous qualities, and this was an excellent opportunity to learn more about them.

Ognus shook his head and leaned towards Brannan, then said in a hushed tone, "No, I mean we need Jane to take a look at the girl. I don't want to tip Alice off just yet." Then again, dream-reading seemed crazy enough to be something that might interest Jane, so he could've been telling the truth unintentionally. While he mused over this, Alice brought him his own plate, and he started to eat breakfast. Between bites, he maintained the facade.

"She's a woman of many talents, alright. From what I understand, she became a mercenary because she couldn't be bothered to do regular work." Ognus leaned his chair back on two legs. "Research seemed too boring, and she mostly studied magical theory, so a career as a combat mage was out of the question." He smiled wryly. "Rather ironic, if you ask me."

Brannan raised an eyebrow. He was aware of Ognus's intentions in letting Jane's name drop, and had intended to play off of that, involving Alice in the conversation to make the two of them appear less secretive. He'd grown too used to hiding his motives, now was a time to display some trust.

"Studying theory eliminates 'combat mage' as a career path? What a surprise. Those nobles sure like to keep their guard dogs nice and predictable. When they need something a little less orthodox, that's when they come looking for mercs..."

Brannan took a moment to finish the biscuit.

"That's it, right? Or am I way off? Honestly, I don't know much about those damned magic schools..."

"I don't either, really, but that's about it, from what I understand. Based on what Jane herself has told me, theorists study how magic works and how it can be applied, while combat mages focus on mastering the use of magical tomes. I guess nobles don't think the theorists are tough enough to handle combat...thought from what I know of Jane, they're dead wrong.

"In fact, I think Jane has written at least one spellbook on her own, and she's still much skilled in fighting than Lou," remarked Ognus.

"Well, what did Lou study?" asked Alice.

Ognus shrugged. "Hell if I know. We should ask him when he wakes up."

The peasants are seemingly not pleased with their defeat. One of them tries attack Clark, but is killed quickly. The commander orders XEQ to guard the rear.
The archer is in the back already, because it was designed as a slave. It immediately follows the order, turning around and marching backwards with an arrow aimed toward the crowd. Cowed by the killing of the youth, nobody comes any closer.
This disappoints XEQ. It shoots the closest villager anyhow, because the commander didn't specify how far "too close" was. The earthen being is always willing to bend its commands when it comes to violence.

Spots Toranis, comin' through!

Streak

Streak stalked along with the group, disturbed by the events of the recent battle. Sighing, he approached Clark. "I don't like this. Those people revolted because they were upset and angry with the leadership. If that guy's father was an asshole, then that explains it right there. Ruling with an iron fist and killing people who rise against you only encourages more to take a stand. I think the guy had the right idea." Streak looks back at the castle.

"If he's going to try and win back the hearts of the people, and prove he's not a jerk like his dad, sparing as many people as he could in that attack seems like the right place to start. I'm not saying he shouldn't kill anybody... I know damn well that it's unavoidable sometimes, but... he just wants to protect his people. Is that really such a mistake?"

Streak looked around to the rest of the group, and scowled when he saw that the archer had killed someone that hadn't attempted to approach. I think I'm starting to regret joining these people. But who knows, maybe they'll surprise me yet.

"On the contrary," Tookie muttered to himself, recalling his history lessons with far more glee than he really should, "rule with enough of an iron fist and too many people will be too scared to make a stand for it to matter."

Hitler certainly did the whole dictatorship thing well. The guy was a genocidal maniac for the later part of his time as Fuhrer, but he had one assassination attempt over twelve years of dictatorship and that was within his top brass and in 1943 or something. Yeah, some people protested, but after all the crap he did I really doubt anyone here can complain about harsh government.

Incidentally, as I recall, Hitler also had the best of intentions for Germany and did it a lot of good while he was in power, it's just a shame that he had such a bone to pick with the Jews, the gays, the Commies, the gypsies, the retarded and... okay, it was a shame he had such a bone to pick with everyone not German.

"That's an admirable intention, I'd agree," Weyler replied, looking at Streak, "but there's a time for lenience. This isn't it.

"I'm not advocating he goes out and slaughters his own people. But those men came out in open rebellion against him, knowing knothing about him aside from his relative's harsh manner of ruling, during his return to claim his throne. There's defiance in their hearts. Being spared means nothing. All that means is that their efforts to free themselves from the nobility were thwarted...Alexander's just given them a second chance to do it all over again. I'd give him even odds, at best, that the villagers see his lenience as weakness instead of mercy."

"Morality issues aside, something else is bugging me about this," Myke said, "for a rebellion this was too well organised. Peasants should not have had weapons like those, and that explosion... someone's definitely pulling some strings here, and I'd love to know who it is. We've seen two rebellions in three days; I don't know about the rest of you, but that doesn't seem like a coincidence to me."

Myke's words mirrored Clark's thoughts. For a new mercenary group, it was odd that they would encounter such political instability with such frequency. "Sydelle is famed for housing powerful combat mages, which could explain the explosion if one of them joined the rebellion, I guess," Clark mused aloud, "but some of them had weapons of higher quality than our own. This much unrest doesn't just randomly happen all at once." Ever since Auncet, it feels like we've been getting led along by someone just out of sight. What does it all mean?

Suddenly, a thought dawned on Clark: their jobs were hand-picked by Melanie, and she had gone to great lengths to get them the Gast job. "I have a feeling Melanie may have some answers for us when we return. Hopefully Sydelle isn't in shambles by then."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ognus nodded. "Very much so. Doesn't like to give himself away." Ognus jabbed at his egg with his fork and put the entire thing in his mouth, hardly taking the time to chew. "He seems a bit unsure of himself when it comes to magic, but I suppose I would be too with Jane as the only reference point."

"Hey, I can use magic too!" Alice interjected.

"Not offensively, you can't," Ognus pointed out.

"So? I've never seen Jane heal anyone!"

"Frankly, what she did to Kallen was the first time I've seen her do something beyond incinerating anyone, so I doubt she ever bothered to learn healing magic."

Looking irritated, Alice switched her attention to Brannan. "So, since we're discussing this, where did you learn swordplay, Brannan?"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lord Ruve paced anxiously back and forth atop his balcony, waiting for the signal to arrive. He was joined by General Crade, who was staring off at the horizon serenely. His deep, mature bass tone broke the silence as he attempted to calm his lord.

"It will come when it comes, sire," he said, eyes locked on the southeast skyline.

"Oh, I know, Nathaniel," the noble replied. "And from our current vantage point, success is practically guaranteed...but if we can achieve it on this day, it will make the victory that much sweeter."

Crade was about to speak again when off in the distance something flew up into the sky. Moments later, a short, brilliant yellow flash went off without so much as a sound, and as quickly as it happened, it was over.

Ruve sighed. "So they've failed. Send Major Dalton and his squad to clean them out."

Crade saluted his liege. "They'll ride forth on the morrow." He promptly left to prepare the soldiers to finish what had been started in Sydelle.

OOC: I kinda wanted to wait until Chapter Seven had started before I revealed what was going on, but you guys were already getting at it anyway, so I figured I'd just come out with it. It's not like Clark and the merry band are going to see Alexander for a while anyway.

Brannan looked up, a bit surprised.

"Oh, me? Well...hmmm...it wasn't anything formal. Didn't have money for things like schools or training academies. I sifted through some old training manuals that belonged do my father when I was young. Gave me a base to build off of. Didn't develop a whole lot of technique, but it gave me a feel for the basics, and it taught me to be observant. Very much so. I met a mercenary traveling once, and he gave me a bit of advice to help me play to my strengths-

"Whenever I can, I take a little something from everyone I watch in combat or fight myself, take what what I like, and incorporate it into my own style. It's a rough imitation more often than not, but at this point, I can stand on my own."

OOC: Incidentally, mind if I have Griez and Lachelle join during Chapter 7? ;>_>

We won't be getting Van for a while because I have a plan for his join that would probably work better if Griez was an established member of the group, but we can get Griez and Lachelle in now and give Tookie someone to hang around with.

Speaking of Griez...

---

Content to let Van make every preparation he possibly could to get ready to track down an Isaac Vergant (probably spending more money than he'd get from Bern for his efforts), Griez simply snuck off to the nearest tavern to try and decide what to do with Van over a nice cold beer. It still wasn't coming to him, though. Should he just abandon the man and find a new group to work with, or try and dissuade him from being a complete idiot?

Wait, no, Van lives and breathes idiocy, Griez reminded himself, that one would never work. If nothing else, though, I could easily abandon him. I'm sure there's a mercenary group or two around here looking for extra bodies. Just need to find them...

Having left the tavern, the idea of not being responsible for keeping Van's head on his shoulders anymore being far too appealing for his liking, Griez began the long and arduous search for employment.

"Hey, Griez! Is that you?"

... Or not. Turning at the sound of a familiar voice, Griez sighed as he saw the woman he'd thought he'd finally escaped from.

I thought I'd finally get to go somewhere by myself and start over, but no... guess I'm doomed to be chained to my past somehow...

"Oh, um, Lachelle," Griez said, not really sure what to say to her, "uhh... hi?"

"Where the bloody hell have you been all these years?," the woman demanded, "and where the hell is Van?"

"Well, you see..."

I'm...HUNGRY!

OOC: That's good, actually. Chapter 8 is the first mission where we would actually need a healer, and now that we'll have one, I can make the enemies tougher! :D

Ooh, my head is spinning...

OOC: No objections to moving on, but Rowan won't be in this one. Jarro will because he needs as much Exp as he can get <_<;;

I might squeeze an RP in tonight but I dunno if I can. Kinda dealing with a lack of motivation to write (It's also why TotA FEABL style hasn't been updated recently, for those who care :P)
My FEABL profile

And why should I trust your ability? You have very consistently been losing ground to the Germans, regardless of whether I've been on your side or not. What you're telling me is that I have a dilemma: either I can fight you and see you lose all of your SCs to Germany, or I can fight Germany and see you lose all of your SCs to Germany.

Charge!

(OOC: I have no objections. I should totally bring Valentia back but she kinda got too boring for me to feel like posting. :V)

Serena

Serena couldn't help but whistle when Clark brutally kill one kid who thought it would be a good idea to attack a battle-hardened group. She didn't particularly approve of the action (she was of the "Can't learn a valuable lesson if you're dead" camp), but then again it really was the teenager's fault for attacking in the first place. Did the horde of villagers not just see a bunch of their fellows stagger out of the castle injured? Maybe they were dumber than she thought.

XE...Q, right, that was the thing's name. XEQ just speared another one of the villagers on another arrow and she had to wince at that since it seemed like a rather large waste of effort and an arrow. Admittedly it didn't take much effort and arrows were cheap, but she didn't think shooting some random guy was really necessary.

The conversation drifted off to talks of whether or not they were doing was moral and Serena slowly tuned them out. Morality never was a large impact in what she did. It was great to do something good for the people, of course, and she still had compunctions against senseless murder, but she was a mercenary. Morality didn't pay the bills and fill the stomach. It was like a secondary objective in life, while the first one simply consisted of "Survive".

Thankfully, the topic changed and Serena's ears perked up when she heard Myke wondering what exactly was going on. Clark mirrored his thoughts and Serena nodded to herself, satisfied. What they said wasn't false at all, but the problem was the lack of answers. Hopefully they'd be able to find them as soon as they got to the guild hall. And then she could go get a nice nap or maybe a good meal out on the town. Life was pretty good, wasn't it?

Valentia - Level 4 Seafarer: "I'll find my father out in the open seas and if I don't, I've had a hell of an adventure in the process!"

NROOC:
Me: I guess I'll start it, then. Hopefully this is good.

XEQ marches back into town behind the other mercenaries. It reaches over its shoulder to determine whether it needs more arrows. Then it sees that crazy young woman with the wooden hammer.
She is leaning against a pile of crates and swinging her weapon aimlessly. Luckily for the archer, she is also looking in the opposite direction, towards the front of the mercenary band.
Seeing its chance, XEQ pulls out an arrow and loads it into its bow, aiming for her throat.
"Now!" she suddenly shouts as loud as she can.
Numerous strong arms seize the dark-clad entity, taking away its bow and holding it in place.
The bowman struggles at first, then notices that the arms are made of soil and ceases to try. All of its kind are created equal, and so it cannot possibly outmatch three of them.
XEQ's captor approaches slowly, her mallet raised. Then she yells out again, "The rest of you! Around me!"
A stream of giant earthen beings pours out of an open doorway nearby, packing in around XEQ and mallet-girl.
"I'm going to kill you," she says, "But first, you will tell me what I need to know."

OOC: Obviously retro, has no impact whatsoever on the current chapter but it's kinda important for future stuff. Also, kinda long <_<;;;

Also, Clark never went to get his reward from Ghast lol

ROWAN

Rowan would have said something but he felt a little split on how he felt after Clark's verbal thrashing. On the one hand, he (being Alexander) had a point that you can't really just kill all your people, but from someone who serves a lord himself, his sense of loyalty for his lord was more important than anything. To be unable to protect him; surely the people wouldn't just give up after a single defeat, because your lord forbid killing of civillians to quell a rebellion. Either way it didn't matter too much for Rowan because, hopefully, he wasn't going to be needed at Sydelle again. At the very least he wouldn't be needed at Sydelle with Jarro. Because that would be even worse.

Anyway, Rowan departed from the group after witnessing Clark murder another civillian, while another got shot by the strange robe freak (Shut up! He's a robe freak to Rowan!) He decided he needed to leave soon unless he wanted some civillians to start swarming him or something.

FAIRAH

And at a pretty far distance, hidden among the homes, stood a lone woman staring across the scene. The rebellion had been quelled, at least for now, so everything worked out. Unfortunately, Fairah could do nothing for the injured themselves because she couldn't risk revealing herself, not when the masterminds could be watching behind the scenes. So all she could do was watch, at least that's what she decided until she noticed Rowan slipped from the group and headed out of town. Deciding that this was probably her only chance to speak with him alone, she slipped out and followed, hoping no one would see her. Fortunately, she was very good at sneaking around so no one did, at least no one gave any indication of it. Then again, most of the people were gathered at the castle anyway so it was a good enough distraction to get away even if you didn't try. Anyway, once Rowan left town, Fairah quickly followed until they were a safe enough distance, although it was a little difficult since Rowan was going pretty fast, but eventually she called out to him, "Rowan! Wait!"

Rowan wasn't in any particular mood to talk with anyone, least of all Jarro, so if it was just about any other voice, he would have ignored it. But he stopped, thankfully for Fairah because she was afraid she'd have to stop to catch her breath and she'd lose her chance. She barely had time to catch it before Rowan spoke himself, "What is it? I'm not in any mood for pleasantries." Fairah knew he detested Jarro, but for him to say that, knowing who he was talking to, really made it obvious how much he detested him. Of course, given the cercumstances; Fairah had been the one to call them both here because she caught wind of the rebellion shortly before it started, knew something had to be done. Since they were the only two who could reach Sydelle in time, Fairah had no choice. Of course she wasn't about to tell Rowan that, and hopefully she could explain her actions to the others.

"Right," Fairah replied, "I won't be long, I just wanted to give you something." Fairah went through the pouch she kept with her and took out a small pendant and quickly handed it to Rowan. Rowan stared at it, clearly shocked at what he'd been given, "But this..." Fairah quickly cut him off, "I know, but I need you to keep it safe for now. I've got to... do something that's a little dangerous and I don't know what'll happen. It's too risky to keep it with me right now." Rowan nodded, somewhat confused by what she said, but knew it wasn't in his place to question her. His mood lightened, regardless, because he realized the trust she must have had for him in order to entrust him with something so valuable and he didn't want to lose it. "Very well! I'll keep it safe." He placed it within one of his bags, knowing he would have to find a better place for it later, but now wasn't the time for that. Fairah smiled, but also hoped she wasn't making a huge mistake, "Okay, then I'll see you later." And then the two parted ways.

OOC: I apologize for being somewhat vague on some things. This is partly because I still need to figure out a few things and partly because I'm gonna explain most of the stuff with Jarro once a good chance presents itself, but not now.
