(OOC: This should be fun!) ROWAN The Crusader was taken aback by the sudden onslaught to the town. He could only stand there and watch helplessly as rains of fire struck the town, damaging buildings, and, even worse, burning the townsfolk. Then Rowan noticed one of the fireballs about to strike an innocent child running away, and acting quickly, ran over and shouted to get out of the way as he did so, and when his words didn't look like they reached in time, he dove at the last second to knock the child and himself just out of reach from the attack. Rowan quickly asked the boy if he was okay, and when he said that he was, quickly left. Rowan surveyed the scene only to find that anyone who wasn't trapped or burning alive seemed to have gotten out of the way. Rowan then heard a man shout to apparently Clark something about retribution. Rowan only thought, Unbelievable, he's doing all this just to get at one man! Rowan quickly called for his horse and, with blade in hand, began riding towards the voice's general direction, which wasn't hard to spot when there was a rather bulky man beside a women dressed in some red robes. At least he seemed the most obvious person to go after so Rowan started riding straight for him, enraged on what he's done. Jarro Jarro was just as stunned, but was far more composed when he saw the destruction of Karaisali. Jarro had already arrived at the guild building just as the attack started so he simply followed behind Clark and told himself, "I don't know what you've done to start something like this, but I can't imagine the people would think too highly of his reputation after this. Regardless, he must be stopped." Then he noticed Rowan charging straight at the man like a madman and simply shook his head. (OOC: Meanwhile, in Sydelle) ??? Two ladies in Sydelle were waiting inside a clothing shop. Though they had only arrived earlier in the morning, they could already tell that the town had been fairly ravaged, even if they weren't already made aware of it earlier. The redhead of the two simply gazed among the many colorful garments, unsure if she wanted to buy any of them. She had quite an unusual hairstyle, with one side tied in a pigtail and the other left alone, and though not fully armored still had visible pieces adorned in certain places, which allowed ease of movement. The other had much shorter and saner purplish hair, was also dressed fairly similar to the other, those the colors were different. She simply sighed as she bluntly told the other, "She's late! What the heck could be taking so long?" The other responded far more cheerfully, though if one were to listen for a while, one could tell she always seemed cheerful, "I'm sure she just ran into something unexpected Frost. And she's only late by a couple minutes anyway." Frost shook her head and looked slightly annoyed, "So far." But she turned away. After a couple moments passed though, another person entered the store and both turned to see who it is. "Fairah!" The redhead ran up to her and grabs her hands out of joy while the other simply made her aware that she was late. However, both their expressions soured when they noticed the grim look on her face. "I'm sorry, Frost and Ruby. Please come with me, we have a grave situation on our hands." (OOC: Yay, new characters I've been meaning to write in since forever now. Actually, this is sooner than I anticipated but I changed my plans <_<;;) Edited by Soul, Dec 13 2009, 01:45 AM.

I'm...HUNGRY!

The explosion of the jail reduced Lug's room to rubble, though miraculously only half of the ceiling fell. Lug kicked down the twisted remains of the iron bars that had held him prisoner. He walked toward the front door and found that his hammer had been knocked loose and was lying on the ground. Lug picked it up and walked back into the jail to find the guards. One had been crushed by the ceiling, and another prisoner had snatched his keys to escape. Luckily, though, the one that had tormented Lug had survived the impact and was lying on the ground in a daze. Lug stood over him, and a cruel smile formed on his lips. "I told you I'd drive this thing through that head of yours if I got out, didn't I?" Lug's voice was completely devoid of emotion or tone as he spoke to the guard. The man's eyes widened as he realized what was going to happen, and he threw up his arms and attempted to beg for his life, but his cries were quickly silenced by Lug's colossal hammer crashing down through his face. Satisfied, Lug walked out of the jail, paying no mind to the other prisoner. |

Serena 'Maybe St. Elimine is trying to punish me for my gluttony.' Serena mused to herself as she saw the fireballs through the window and crash into the town, the sudden impact tossing her off her feet. She fell with a pained groan, her stomach heaving as she stared up at the ceiling. 'No, that's dumb.' She scrambled up to feet, ignoring the discomfort it brought her, and was prepared to head out to help the villagers when a loud voice broke through the screams and crackling fire, screaming for Clark. Her lips twisted into a frown. 'Who would be so careless and uncaring to bomb an entire village just to get one guy? Either the chief gave this guy a chip on his shoulder the size of Lycia or he's insane. Either way...' Her eyes turned to Clark as he spoke and she nodded slightly. 'He's right. It's what we should do. The right thing to do, at least.' "Right behind you, boss!" She nodded with determination, running after Clark as fast as she could. Along the way, however, she heard a scream coming from her left. Quickly skidding to a halt, she saw a girl's father trapped under some rubble with his family vainly trying to pry the heavy wooden beam off of him. She probably could help them. She was pretty strong, after all, and her sword skills might be more useful than separating a head from a body. 'Eh, the boss can handle himself. He doesn't need me to watch over his shoulder.' "I'll be there in a bit, Clark!" She screamed at his disappearing figure before running towards the struggling family and doing her best to help. Hopefully it wouldn't take that long. Her heart was beginning to pound with fear. Not for the villagers or for herself, but for Clark. If someone was willing to torch a village for him, who knows what other tricks they could have? |

OOC: Oh, this is gonna be fun. --- "Run away," Tookie said rather savagely, already motioning for his axe, "and let whoever did this get away with it? Yeah, that isn't frickin' happening." With this, he tore off after Clark, leaving the others to make their own decisions. What the F*CKING HELL? I get trying to kill us- which I only object to on a personal basis- but what they're doing... getting innocent people caught up in their petty revenge... This is absolutely unacceptable. Someone is going to die for this. "... Well, Myke?" Emysia asked, "what do we do?" "Tookie has a point," Myke mused, "this is too far for someone just looking for Clark- and by extension, us. I'm going, if only to make sure Tookie doesn't do anything too stupid and get himself killed..." "Well that makes our decision simple," Emysia said. "Lilane? Are you with us?" This... this is wrong... not even the Graael Order were this inhumane... and Tookie showed me how I can help... Lilane nodded her assent. "Wait just a few seconds for me," Griez said, "I've got a sword back at the inn we were staying at before we joined up with you. It's probably a bit too hefty for him, but I can always use it instead..." "Are you sure you'll be able to get to it?" Lachelle asked, looking at the amount of the town that was in ruins." "Eh," he shrugged, "I can always borrow one of Van's spares. Without permission or intent to return, of course." "Alright, Griez," Myke said, "but don't push it. I'm sure Tookie can go one more battle without a sword if he needs to." Actually, one of my older swords would probably be a better one to start him off with, so if he can't get any of them... The group waited a few minutes, and sure enough, Griez had managed to get hold of a sword. It wasn't quite as large as Myke had worried it would be... in fact, it seemed like a pretty good fit for him. "That was... surprisingly easy," he said, "one of the few relatively untorched buildings." "Alright then," Myke said, "let's get moving." --- Not wasting time, Van bolted out of Karaisali as soon as the flames struck. The hunt for Vergant would have to be abandoned for now; survival took higher priority. What did catch his eye on the way out, however, was the very able looking group of mercenaries moving towards what he could only assume was the person responsible for this. He might be able to get a couple of clues about Vergant from them, if nothing else... His mind made, he followed them a little way out of sight. He wasn't going to risk his neck too much here. --- Relus, meanwhile, was panicking just outside of Karaisali. He'd expected to find Myke and the others before they could try and get themselves killed. Not in the midst of an inferno... Regardless, his job was to aid them, and aid them he damn well would. Kicking up a wind spell underneath himself, he circled around the town with unusual speed, looking for some sign of Myke... soon enough, he saw the young swordsman and his little entourage (which seemed to be growing) running towards something, which was all he needed to know. This was all he could do at this point... Gripping the Elibian healing staff he'd been given and making sure his Hurricane tome was where it was supposed to be, he followed them. --- OOC: One NPC and one *shock* additional PC! :O (though I'm gonna need to work out exactly what I'm doing with Relus' stats, since bringing him in now wasn't part of my initial plan and I was going to make him a battle character as soon as I got Lilane retired. However, it seems a bit more feasible for him to find the group now than when I initially planned him to join. >_>) Also, one very pissed Tookie. HIDE YOUR MAGES, BYRON. |

OOC: Ohoho, this is going to be epic. I'm holding a study group this afternoon, so I'll wait until I get back from that to update. If somebody could poke Serene between now and then, that'd be awesome, but otherwise...yeah, I got nothing. You guys always leave me speechless with your RPs; I'm glad you've all stuck around so long. |

Maria Valine Bliss. She didn't mind all the stares--there was nothing more relaxing than a cold drink after an arduous journey. Her first impression was that this town would prove as dreadfully dull as her own, but that fear faded rapidly. There was a certain energy here that invigorated her; the oppressive air of her household and the nobility were nowhere to be found. Of course she could already see the place had its own problems, but if things continued like this she might actually enjoy the assignment. Suspicious activity? Notes? It was beginning to sound like Etruria had hired out the templars as "quality of life" inspectors. She briefly conversed with the bartender to learn more about the area, and then decided to look around for herself. Karaisali, huh? With no destination in mind, she meandered over to the marketplace. This proved to be an unpleasant experience; her garb gave the illusion of high standing, and her long hair complemented that unintentional image. As a result, she was practically assaulted by merchants as she passed through. Her hatred of idle conversation further exasperated the situation--had she not so strong a will she would have burned through her mission's savings for some temporary peace. One hour later... An electric shock paralyzed her body; her body shuddered, and adrenaline filled her veins. With elongated breaths she violently unsheathed her blade, her eyes darting madly in search of something. It was a sense she cultivated in her training, a technique that once enabled the templars to hunt practitioners of elder magic without ever becoming the hunted. But this was different. She wasn't the only target--she couldn't pinpoint the source... The caster can't be here, the whole town is giving me...! Judgment. Fire pierced the skies and scorched the earth, engulfing the town in a flower of flames. The screams were deafening; a resounding chorus of agony arose in the inferno. When the survivors had fled, the sounds grew even more sickening. Maria could hear the horrific moans of the dying, and the wailing of those who refused to abandon them. She was powerless to help even the people right in front of her, all of them felled by the blast Maria endured. Save one. A young man crawled up to her, gasping for air, desperately trying to form a sentence. He didn't last long, but she locked eyes with him--she could feel the myriad mesh of emotions...fear, regret...and gratitude? But in the next instant he was gone. All that was left was the nauseous smell of burning flesh. And then the voice. "CLARK KALLEN! COME RECEIVE YOUR RETRIBUTION!" One man...? This town was butchered for one man!? She was possessed by hatred--her thoughts became a vitriolic mess. Without her training, she would have perished in this little revenge scheme as well. Was this her mission? She was rarely motivated by justice, but seeing people slaughtered in front of your eyes...someone had to be held responsible. Someone had to die. She gripped her blade and headed towards the inevitable battlefield. OOC: She has enough sense left to determine who the enemy is, but if the average stats of the enemy in this battle are higher than the ones given in the profile, a temporary improvement can be justified. Well, let's get this show started. Edited by Jmyster, Dec 12 2009, 09:07 PM.
