HiMAT Laharl!

...could somebody summarize how the 1~2 range magic swords work again?

For that matter, what happens if Silencer and Big Shield both fire?

(totally not redoing the statuator in Python)

Don't want to stat? Web statuator, effort-free version. Still in testing.

If Silencer and Big Shield both fire, they cancel each other out.

I'm also pretty sure that for the Wind Sword, it's strength based for each range.

I actually tested magic swords a few days ago.

Light Brand and Wind Sword are swords at range 1, magic at range 2. Runesword is magic at both ranges.

Swords use Str - Def for damage and are swords in the triangle.
Magic uses Str/2 - Res for damage and is the appropriate magic type.

Thanks to this topic, Kiwi now sees a silencer and a large shield being fired out of cannons at each other.

I recall some years ago that this came up in one of TPO's events, and it was determined that Light Brands target defense from both distances....

Someday, this is going to get quoted out of context.

And why should I trust your ability? You have very consistently been losing ground to the Germans, regardless of whether I've been on your side or not. What you're telling me is that I have a dilemma: either I can fight you and see you lose all of your SCs to Germany, or I can fight Germany and see you lose all of your SCs to Germany.

Yeah, the reason you were testing was to see if Str rounded up or down anyway

Yeah, I used a light brand up close and used resistance for the stats (fresh off an FE play, so I was somewhat confident of it). Started a small chain of events which confirmed it.

Yeah, but what FEBAl uses and what the game mechanics use are different. I'm not sure if that's the point being gotten across, but it's just how I see it.

It specifies in the skill descriptions in the topic, I believe.

If Silencer and Big Shield go off at the same time, Big Shield cancels the Silencer, but not the crit.

Big Shield turns a silencer into a normal crit - they cancel each other out.

EDIT: KJ'd
