NROOC: Me: I don't see a Soul RP here, so I'll fill it in with one of my own. A paltry substitute, to be sure. "No, sorry miss, but I ain't seen no man of that description round these parts," explains a poor bumpkin, before he holds up his carrots again. "Are you sure you ain't lookin' to buy some nice carrots?" he asks with a hopeful smile. Jael sighs and shakes her head. "I'm not interested in carrots, but thank you for your time." She walks away from the man, her gaze sweeping the small town for some sign of Clark. Nobody has seen him, and these stalls have been set up all day. But I know he came this way. Unless he doubled back when- Her train of thoughts suddenly crashes, causing 112 injuries and 1 death. Well, not really, but she is distracted by the girl running towards her, calling out her name. "Jael! Jael! I found you!" she squeals, not slowing down at all as she charges merrily onward. Jael responds by tossing the found lance aside and standing her ground. She succeeds in remaining upright as the girl collides with her, giving her a big hug. Returning the hug with significantly less enthusiasm, Jael says, "Hello Zibia. It's nice to see you, but what are you doing here?" Zibia pulls away and looks up at her, being at least four inches shorter. "I came to find you! And now I did!" she cries, looking extremely proud of herself. "Now let's go home!" Jael shakes her head. "Sister, please. You know I can't go home, not really. Unless I can find that golem and get it to tell me where Herbert's body is." Her sister groans. "Give up, Jael! It's an evil golem, and it's never going to tell you anything. I know you can't live in our house, but nobody will find you in that shed. And I could keep bringing you stuff, like before. Please, just come back!" "Ravah knew I was in there. He can see everything that happens back there. He certainly saw that I took some golems with me when I left. I'm a criminal now, Zibia. I can't go back." The younger girl starts crying. "No! If you won't come back, then I'm staying here with you!" "No, it's too dangerous. You have to go home," Jael says, putting her hand on her sister's shoulder comfortingly. "Just by coming here, you've probably terrified mother half to death. They've already lost me and they don't need to lose you too." Wiping her eyes on her sleeve, Zibia shakes her head, looking determined. "If you can make it on your own, so can I. And I won't be on my own, I'll be with you." She reaches into her satchel and takes out a tome. "I can do magic too, so I can protect us that way." Jael raises an eyebrow at this claim. "You learned magic in just this short time?" "A little bit, but I'll keep practicing until I'm just as good at it as Ravah!" she says earnestly. "That would be impressive, dear sister," says Jael, trying her hardest not to laugh. "I suppose you can come with me, but only until I can find some way to get you home safely. You've been very lucky getting all the way here." The girl hugs her older sister again. "Thank you, Jael! But it wasn't luck at all, St. Elimine is protecting me. And now that I'm with you, she'll protect you too!" Jael nods. "I hope so." |

OOC: I'll just start leaving this here. =\ --- Lucialde frowned; the voices were getting further away. He'd sent for Lily- noting that she would likely need to be forced after their last meeting- but there was still no sign of her. He had hoped they could have left Langras by now, ready to pounce upon the boy as soon as his guest had awoken. Yet, this was not to be, and the boy had already been allowed several chances to escape Lucialde's machinations through death. None had been taken, but the worry was still there. Accidents could happen, after all, and an accident at this stage would likely set him back several more centuries. It was a shame that Lily was refusing to co-operate, he'd decided, as the next stage of his plan required her full obedience... not that he couldn't arrange that, of course, but time and energy spent on that was a hinderance he would prefer to avoid. "It won't be long now, Golgoth," he murmured, looking into the cloud of darkness from whence the demon would come. "You shall once more walk amongst men very soon, I promise you." "Soon!? SOON!? I have waited for over five hundred years, how soon is very soon? I have not forgotten that your sense of time is fading, ancient one." The voice of Golgoth boomed throughout the chamber; it was fortunate that nobody but Lucialde was around to hear it. "Your full return is merely days away. The pieces are in position, and the vessel that I would present to you will have outlived prior usefulness within a week." "A week is too long! Why can I not roam free NOW!?" "You require a vessel, my Lord. It is vital to the plans that I have made for us." "Plans for us, Lucialde, or for you!?" "If my plans were solely for myself, Golgoth," Lucialde said, "I would not have turned to you." Relying on the power of others has always been to my detriment, he thought to himself, though he was fairly sure Golgoth could still hear his thoughts. --- "Until next time, Isaac!" "Oh, good, we won," Tookie muttered as the soldiers around him started retreating. Soon!? SOON!? I have waited for over five hundred years, how soon is very soon? I have not forgotten that your sense of time is fading, ancient one. ... What. A week is too long! Why can I not roam free NOW!? Oh, Christ, did this thing have to be so goddamn loud? Plans for us, Lucialde, or for you!? Ow. This was starting to hurt his head. DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON YOU, YOU WRETCH! Will you just shut up? The novelty of hearing voices in my head is wearing really goddamn thin now. Okay, saying that was probably one of the least intelligent things he'd done in the last several years. Turning around to see Emysia looking at him with something vaguely resembling terror in her eyes was enough to tell him that. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!! ... And if the wide eyed Emysia wasn't enough, that certainly was. Clutching at his head, Tookie tried to shoo away Lilane and Relus' interference- "dammit, Emysia needs more help than I do"- and hoped that this screaming wouldn't last long. If this thing had to shout, could it at least go back to shouting what he assumed to be one half of a conversation? Might actually be useful that way. --- OOC: whee plot stuff :O |

JARRO Jarro was pleased that these soldiers were not as invincible as he originally thought. Though their armor was certainly troublesome, he found he could still injured them with use of the most powerful magic he was capable of using. But having successfully fought off one of them by himself, he was confident that he could at least match up with them, even with their armor, and if he found a way to disable it, he could probably beat them easily. But the wasn't really the big concern going through his mind right now. The fact that they were found quite easily meant that the enemy had a large enough contigent of soldiers to establish lookouts even at small villages, more than was probably necessary to hunt down just one man. Either they were desperate to eliminate him or something else is clearly afoot here. I need to return as soon as possible now. Once the remaining soldiers began their retreat, Jarro began to seek out Clark, and when he was found, Jarro approached him while speaking, "They're going to an awful lot of trouble, sending all these men after you all the way here, don't you think?" OOC: Will have more later |

XEQ fires again at the retreating soldiers, but they all escape with their lives. And none of them even had wyverns. They somehow keep winding up in fights with unmounted Bernese soldiers. It's almost as if they know that there's a dangerous bowman amongst these mercenaries. Said bowman, who is not really a man at all, marches toward its commander. It stands there still and silent as a statue. A statue made of dirt. |

OOC: Sora, feel free to join up whenever you'd like. BIC: Clark nodded in agreement. "They're here in far greater force than I would have imagined, especially if they're only after me. Claude said some things that got me thinking...like that perhaps they're not trying to kill me. Kajan is, that's for sure, but he might be the only one." Clark scratched his chin and scowled. "It makes me wonder, though...what's their real agenda? Is there something bigger going on that we're not seeing?" Glancing over at Jarro, Clark added, "I suppose you'll probably want to report this to your superiors, eh?" |

(I guess I'll have him show up now. And sorry if I spelt anything wrong.) Sora looked around the area, wondering what the two groups had fought over. But it didn't matter as much now seeing as how one of the groups had left. What was important was to pilfer stuff from these people, without being seen. He snuck around, trying to find the perfect opportunity to snatch something from them. Though with the lack of sutible cover that would be rather hard. |

JARRO Jarro nodded in reply, "Indeed. If you think about it, they picked an interesting time to show up in force. I'm sure you've already seen the riots, in Auncet and Sydelle. Etruria's unity is in shambles right now, no sense in even trying to hide it, and if Bern were to attack in full force..." Jarro rubbed his forehead. Though it would be strange that Bern would try attacking again so soon after the last war, especially considering it left Bern's military strength in shambles, even so, now is pretty much the perfect opportunity to strike. But alot about the situation made no sense though one thing was clear at this point. "I think it is likely that Bern may be using you simply as a means to an end. To run around behind the scenes with their plans with Etruria mostly oblivious to them. Either way, if they are not just after you then time is of the essence here. For that reason, it would be wise to head northwest, towards Augustria. Although it's slightly out of the way to your prefered destination, it does have among the strongest military stength in Etruria so I doubt Bern would try to attack or even approach us there, which would give everyone a chance to rest after all that's happened. Its also located fairly close to the Capital." Though Jarro doubted that even if setting the Capital on alarm would do much to stir the others into action with the way things currently were, but it was better than doing nothing. Jarro smiled, "There fact that that's where my superiors are may also have something to do with my suggestion." OOC: ITT, Jarro guesses at possible plot twists. Also, been planning this out for a while now and what you need to know about Augustria, since its supposed to be fairly famous among Etrurians so unless you've been living under a rock, you would know it as a city with a certain beauty to it (It's difficult to explain, though the way I imagined it is sorta like Viteau in Sands of Destruction (google it if need be)) and of course has a strong military. The city is sorta high class, even though I wasn't intending for that. /: It's also not a port city despite it being close to the sea (because the water there is a nightmare to navigate via ship) so its a bit more closer to the mainland as a result. As for distance, I'm pretty sure it's actually closer to Karaisali than Ghast would be, unless Seth horribly misled me when I was asking about that. Either way, Seth is a better judge of this than I would be. I also have another RP planned but since I gotta update DtF (And that'll take forever .-.) I'll do it tomorrow most likely. |

Streak approached the two, looking a bit worse for wear. Physically, he appeared fine, but those trained, armored soldiers had been a bit much for him. "I gotta tell ya Clark, whatever you've got planned, I hope it gets guys like them off our back. I'm not cut out for that kinda brawl." As long as they didn't start going east, though, he was happy. Just being back inside the Etrurian border again made him a bit antsy... |

OOC: No, I didn't save it, but I want to do it differently if there was no death involved. Plus, I want to try to work in his appearance. SICK Sick had been journeying for quite a while since that debacle with the demons, looking for answers of how he could get home. He'd witnessed his fair share of battles along the way. He took great care to avoid getting involved in such conflicts, as they would only distract him from the answers he sought. Clad in black and red armor, and towering at eight feet tall, he knew that if either side in a conflict so much as spotted him during battle, he'd become a target. Thus, he had to once again crouch down in the nearby woods as he saw a battle break out between two forces. One seemed to be a cadre of mercenaries, and the other looked like some sort of organized army. While there was nothing unusual about that, Sick noticed something unusual about the mercenaries right away. Wait... that's a golem. I haven't seen one of those here before. It seems to be sided with the mercenaries, judging from how it responded to the one I'm pretty sure is leading them. As he watched the battle wage on, he noticed something even more unusual. ... The mercenaries... they're not finishing off their foes. They're letting the wounded soldiers retreat. Even if you're not the aggressor, it makes little sense to not finish off your foes. These soldiers... they're not particularly strong, but they've got numbers, training, and good weaponry. Still, though, they're going to get overrun if they don't retreat at some point. Those mercenaries are far more powerful than the average fighter here... I'm guessing some of them might even be able to keep up with me. Not long after thinking as much, Sick's prediction came true, as the soldiers retreated with injuries. From where he was, he could see no indication that the mercenaries intended to give chase, even though they would likely be able to catch up to and overcome their foes. ... Those mercenaries... they're being hunted. With the amount of soldiers in a village this tiny, they've got to be everywhere. It'd be a waste of effort to chase them down when they flee, if three more will appear for each one cut down. Sick moved into the village to get a closer look. Most of the buildings had sustained little actual damage, aside from bloodstains here and there, or an occasional arrow stuck into a wall. He knew he stood out like a sore thumb at his height, but he didn't particularly care - if anybody tried to do anything to him, he'd light them on fire and that'd be the end of that. No casualties whatsoever... I must admit, I'm rather curious as to who these mercenaries are. They're the most skilled bunch I've come across since that whole thing with the demons, that's for certain. They could easily have taken the lives of the soldiers that were chasing them. OOC: Yes, I know it's not as good as the one from before, but this is a little more... introspective, I guess. He's still standing in plain sight of everybody so somebody please like talk to him or something. <_< |

NROOC: Me: XEQ can't talk, but it's pretty good at shooting things. So let's do that. XEQ waits silently for new orders. The golem did not get to shoot many soldiers, and didn't even get to kill anybody. It watches for any sign of movement. The locals seem to be absent. They were there before the battle, but they all vanished once the soldiers appeared. Perhaps they have experience with this sort of thing. Or they are all cowards. Then it sees something. A man in armor, walking out from the woods and towards the mercenaries. It reaches behind its back and draws an arrow, notching it into its bow. The archer aims for the man's head, noticing as it does so that he is extremely tall. That is not normal for a human. XEQ, along with all the other golems, was designed to be taller than most men, but not too tall to fit inside buildings. This man might have difficulty with such. But a dead man can be fit into any building with ease. XEQ fires at the man, then reaches back for another arrow in case the first misses. |

SICK Sick was correct in his suspicion - the golem was extremely aggressive to those it believed to be threats. Before the arrow was even fired, he was well aware of the impending attack. He ducked to the side, the arrow whizzing past him. Hmm... interesting. This one's a killing machine, alright. Curious that it would actually hold back and not kill anybody on anyone's command. He could see the golem already was aiming another arrow at him. Sick sighed. I can't just burn this thing, that might annoy the rest of these mercenaries. Time to see if I can get them to call it off, at least. If not... then I may have to resort to just setting things on fire. "Is there some reason you're attacking me?" he called out calmly to the golem, certainly loud enough for the mercenaries to hear him as well. He had one of his arms behind his back, and in his hand, flames began rotating into a shape... |

One of the people, a giant of a man, desided to fire an arrow at another person who walked toward the man. The arrow in question flew past the target after he dodged and landed in the wall right next to where Sora was hiding. Clark considered their options for a few moments, then replied to Jarro. "We'll stop in Augustria along the way to Reglay. If your employer has any social influence, he or she should hopefully be able to shelter us for at least one night. We could all use the rest. However, it is of utmost importance that we reach Reglay." He then turned to Streak. "You're not the only one; in our current state, we can't match them if they send a large force our way. Every single soldier with the rank of Major or higher will possess enchanted weapons like Claude, and we can't hope to stand against that with the weapons we have. What awaits us in Reglay should level the playing field a bit, though we'll still be fighting for our lives." Clark walked over to Emysia, who was still writhing on the ground, and stooped down beside her. "The paralysis should wear off in about ten minutes or so, but she'll still be physically weakened," he told Myke. He scooped up Emysia and slung her over his shoulder. "We don't have that kind of time to spare. I'll carry her until she's well enough to walk." OOC: Based on the positioning at the end of the event, Clark wouldn't be in a very good position to see Sick (despite how conspicuous he is), so he hasn't noticed him yet. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Enemies at the rear gate! Enemies at th--urrgh!" Harmon yanked his spear free of the soldier attempting to alert the castle, buying his men precious seconds to continue their charge. They had taken out most of the Ruve soldiers standing between the back gate and the rear entrance to the castle, but they still needed to press forward if they were to buy Alexander and his men any sort of advantage. Muttering an incantation under his breath, Harmon thrust his spear straight forward toward a group of advancing guards. Without warning, a massive blade of air flew from his spear, slicing through some of the soldiers and bowling over the rest. Those that survived his spell were quickly eliminated by the soldiers of Gast as they worked their way closer to the castle. "Victory is near!" Harmon shouted, spurring his men on. "Tear them apart! Show no mercy!" OOC: Sora and Corndoghero, now would be the best time for your shamans to join RP-wise if you don't want to wait until the end of the attack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Sir...we've found...Vergant...!" Kajan's report was interrupted by heavy gasps as he tried to catch his breath. Upon reaching their temporary base, he had dismounted and ran all the way to Marakken's tent. Marakken looked up from the papers he had been examining moments before. "Oh? And where did you run into him?" "Border town...Karaisali...no contact, but...he's there." Marakken cocked an eyebrow. "No contact?" Kajan shook his head. "No, Sir. She was absent from her post." Scowling, Marakken asked, "And what of your team? How did they fair against Vergant." Kajan's face became contorted with rage. "The traitor and his band of cowards lured us into a trap. They escaped and caused the building we were in to collapse upon us." "How many of you made it out?" "Three including myself, Sir." Kajan couldn't be sure, but he thought he saw a faint smirk tugging at General Marakken's lips. The thought was unsettling to him, and he quickly dismissed it as a rage-induced hallucination. "He's certainly as dangerous as we assumed," Marakken mused. He pushed away the papers on his desk and stood up, walking toward his armor. "What remains of your unit will join Major General Leon's squad and await further orders. Vergant won't stay in one place long, so we'll need to strengthen the patrols in the northern regions...ah, but now I'm rambling, and I have urgent business in the capital." Marakken threw on his cloak over his armor and walked out of his tent. As he left, he clapped Kajan on the shoulder and told him, "Stay vigilant, Algram. You're a good soldier; don't forget that." The general left Kajan alone in his tent, still thinking about what Marakken had just said. He was honored to fight alongside his former knight, but the losses he had suffered at Vergant's hands made him eager to hunt him once more on his own terms. He would get his chance, and he would not fail again. OOC: There's more to come, but I'll post that in a little bit. |

OOC: Dammit, Zap. >_< BIC: "Is there some reason you're attacking me?" Clark's head turned toward the source of these words. XEQ had begun attacking someone, that was for sure...but who was it? The soldiers had all fled, and he doubted any of the townspeople would be foolish enough to stand by and talk to it while it shot at them. Whoever they were dealing with was either incredibly stupid, or incredibly dangerous. "Stand down, XEQ!" Clark called as he walked toward the golem. Once he was out of the alley, he saw that the mystery person was clearly of the second variety. He was at least as tall as the golem and clad in crimson armor. Shifting Emysia's weight in case he needed to draw a weapon, Clark warily asked the man, "Who are you?" |

"Hey," Tookie muttered, tapping on Relus' shoulder, "can I talk to you over there?" He pointed to a clearing a little way away from the rest of the group. Ideally, they'd be too preoccupied with the new arrival to listen in on their conversation. I can't keep this thing locked up in my head, it'll drive me mad... well, madder. --- "What is it?" Relus asked, as soon as Tookie had decided they were at a safe enough distance. "I'm not really sure who I should be talking to about this, but... I've been hearing voices in my head. Loud ones." PRATTLE, PRATTLE. A FOE STILL AWAITS YOU. "Voices? What are they saying?" Relus tried to sound surprised, but there was a faint hint of dread in his voice. Please, please do not be Golgoth... Lucialde can't have gotten to him yet. "When it's not berating me for daring to be patient and not charge into fights like a madman, it's saying something about wanting to walk free and it mentioned a Lucialde." Tookie pasued for a moment to judge Relus' reaction. "... I don't really want to know what this thing is, do I?" "Speak of this to no one, Michael," Relus said, somewhat shaken. "I had hoped Lucialde wouldn't have found you so soon..." "Lucialde? Hang on..." Tookie wracked his brains, trying to think of who Relus was talking about. "Silver hair, robed, very calm, absolutely reeks of lies and slander?" No answer from Relus, except a very small nod. "... Oh. Him. If we ever run into him again," Tookie muttered, "I'm gonna kill him." So that's why that git was so keen to make sure this amulet stayed on- I'm hearing whatever was stuck inside it... but if it wants to get out, I'd have to take it off. Maybe he's left it with me so it stays sealed forever- PAHAHAHA yeah right, he's pretty clearly working with it. What the hell do they gain from leaving this thing with me, though? God, this Lucialde guy's a dick. Between him and Bern, I'd like to get home at some point and not get myself killed. I don't think any life insurance policy would cover 'speared by a man on a small dragon' or 'mauled by some demon thing'. "Is that all," Relus asked, "or was there something else you needed to know?" "Not that I want to hear," Tookie responded, "and from the looks you and Emysia have given me I think you know exactly what I've been hearing. I'll just assume it's bad and somewhere down the line I'm going to have to deal with it if I ever want to get home. But now," Tookie looked back to the others, "we'd probably best get back to them before we're missed." --- The enchanted weapons comment had rattled Myke; between the promise of more opponents like that frenzied soldier in the bandit fortress and whatever bad news he assumed Relus had brought, the gravity of their situation was finally dawning on him. The idea of living to see Langras freed from the Graael Order seemed to be drifting further away with each passing day. --- OOC: oh gods i posted what is this i do not even |

SICK Sick relaxed his hand, and the flames dissipated. "I'm... a traveler," he answered. He noticed that despite the man addressing him trying to carry another person, he was prepared to draw a weapon if need be. "I'm not here to pick a fight. Hell, I'm not even entirely certain where I am. More than anything else, I'm just trying to get my bearings on where I am and where I've been, and possibly where I need to go. I'm not familiar with the layout of this w... area." ... Okay, I know I'm gonna regret this, but I'm just too curious. "What happened here?" Sick asked. "I know a battle happened, but nothing else. Those weren't brigands you drove off, and your group doesn't look like pillagers either. Is there a war or something going on around here?" As he spoke, he eyed the golem warily. Sick wasn't sure the golem would be so ready stand down at the order of somebody who didn't look like he was its creator. |

Clark breathed a sigh of relief; the man was clearly not here to attack them. If Bern were to send a spy after them, they would not have chosen someone so intimidating and conspicuous, and since the brute did not seem interested in fighting, he must not be targeting them. "Just a...misunderstanding, that's all," Clark said, choosing his words carefully. Sizing the man up much more critically, Clark added, "If you're lost, you're welcome to travel with us for the time being. We're on our way to a large city. From there, you should have little trouble figuring out where you are relative to where you need to be." And you'll come in handy if Claude or Kajan come calling again, Clark thought to himself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Osprey poured the last few drops of his healing elixir on the chest of a small boy. It had taken quite some time to carefully remove the debris that had impaled him, but his work would soon be at an end. Slowly but surely, the ugly wound began to close as skin and tissue magically reformed and rejoined, making his chest whole once more. The boy's mother rushed to his side and hugged him tightly with tears in her eyes as Osprey silently stood up and walked away. "What compelled you to do that?" Osprey turned around to find a man dressed in blacksmith's garb addressing him. Most of his hair had been singed off, and any exposed skin had been blackened by soot. "He was dying," Osprey responded. "I did what I could." "I saw you mercenaries out there," the blacksmith continued, "and I know whose side you were on. If these folks find out, their anger might get the better of them. Why are you still here?" Osprey grimaced; the man was right. They had no obligation to stay, and they were placing themselves at risk in doing so. "Think of it as cleaning up our mess," he said finally. The blacksmith smiled. "That's what I like to hear." He extended his hand. "Angus Ralheim." Osprey shook it in turn. "Call me Osprey." At that moment, Noelle and Ocelot returned, walking from two different directions. Noelle looked incensed, while Ocelot looked exceptionally pleased with himself. Osprey realized it probably had something to do with the woman he was leading along by the wrist. "I was scouring ol' Byron's barracks, and look what I found out back!" he proclaimed gleefully. "This little filly has some valuable information that I think you'll all be interested to hear." Osprey cocked an eyebrow, while Noelle's anger lessened...slightly. Melanie looked around at her new captors. Deciding things couldn't possibly get any worse, she opened her mouth to speak. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ OOC: Dohoho, what's going on there? :D |

NROOC: Me: That reminds me, I need to get Jael back to Noelle's pegasus. "You stole a pegasus?!" exclaims Zibia, frowning at her older sister as they walk away from the town. "That's not just theft! That's, like, kidnapping! Where is the poor thing?" She looks around, as if it might be hiding behind a tree. Jael sighs. "It's up ahead. We need to go back because it still has the axe I found." She picks up the pace. "Found? Are you sure you didn't steal that too?" Zibia asks, shaking her head disapprovingly. She puts the back of her hand up to her forehead and says in a voice laden with exaggerated woe, "My dear sister has become a despicable criminal! Whatever shall I do?" Rolling her eyes, Jael responds, "I don't know what you should do. Join a performing troupe, maybe. I did not steal the axe, it was lying in the street unattended. And I fully intend to return that pegasus to its rightful owner once it returns the axe. There it is now." She points at the animal, which is staring back at them. The younger girl runs over to it, squealing. "You poor pegasus! My big sister was mean to kidnap you." She pats its head, then reaches into her satchel. After a bit of rummaging, she pulls out a rather withered apple, which she offers to the winged horse. It accepts, then lowers its head and folds its wings, seemingly inviting her to get on. Zibia does so, then sticks her tongue at her sister. "Are you coming, you wretched kidnapper and thief?" Jael sighs and follows her sister, mounting the pegasus. It's not even close to fair. It must be St. Elimine's will that she succeed in all things. Situations always just work out in her favor. |

Streak nodded as Clark answered his concerns - at least he wasn't the only one who'd felt a bit outmatched. Still, he couldn't help but wonder just what was waiting for them there that would "level the playing field" like he claimed. Streak turned his head as someone else showed up, and apparently earned the ire of that damn golem, which honestly didn't seem that hard. His opinion of it still wasn't terribly high; it may have helped him out, but it wasn't out of any loyalty or anything of the sort, it was merely continuing to do what it seemed so eager to do under -any- circumstances: Fight and kill. Or attempt to, anyway. While Clark made his way over there, Streak scaled the alley wall, making for the roof of the building for a better vantage point to watch the conversation from. Holy hell, that guy's a monster! Here's hoping he decides to tag along for a bit, we could use the extra muscle... |

Sora was freaking out. It seemed that the person that shot the arrow wasn't a person at all, but a giant golem archer. And it wasn't alone, for two others showed up and began talking to it. Sora would need to be stealthy to avoid getting shot by that thing. He crept out from the cover and tried to move toward one of the other houses, unfortunently he triped on something that was in the path. Now there was no cover for him to hide. |

(OOC:Alright, time to introduce my characters) "Benji, wake up! You have to see this!" There was a creaking sound as Benji opened his eyes. Maybe the creak was the sound of his eyelids opening. He wasn't sure. All was sure about was...actually, he wasn't sure about anything. Was he Benji? No idea. It didn't matter. He still sat up, feeling somewhat...empty. Out of place. Why? Benji looked out the window, seeing a blurry wave of movement below. Why was it blurry? He thought for a moment, then said, "Glasses." Glasses received and equipped. The movement was retreating soldiers, but what were they retreating from? "Mercenaries," said a female voice as if she read his mind. Benji looked at Dianna, sighing a little. "Fill me in as I get dressed. Everything that happened since I blacked out." --- "So what are we going to do, Benji?" Benji heard Dianna almost trip down the stairs in her haste to keep up with him. He shook his head as he fastened his cloak. "I'm not sure, Dianna...I'm weighing our options at the moment." "So, do you know where we are?" "Vaguely, but no." He held the door open as Dianna passed through. "How about when?" Benji grabbed Dianna's arm, pulling her so she was looking right into his eyes. "Do not. Ever. Say. When. EVER," he hissed. "You...have no idea what you're talking about. We stick out enough already. Just follow my lead and be quiet while I talk to these mercenaries." "Right, brother." Benji could tell his sister was rolling her eyes as he walked off. His mind was racing...right now, they were both practically defenseless. He was a magically drained dark mage, and she was a first-year fencing student. They needed allies. Desperately. Benji calmly strolled over to the mercenaries. Just blend in...things will be fine... CRASH! BANG! "Oooww!!!" And then, Dianna tripped. Over the mercenaries' goods. Of course. Benji cursed to himself and helped her up. "I'm so sorry about this! I can't apologize enough for my clumsy sister...how can I ever make amends?" Edited by Kinkajou, Aug 9 2010, 07:47 PM.

Out of instinct, Clark immediately drew his weapon as he heard a small commotion. When he looked around for the source of the noise, he found that it had been caused by a young boy falling in the street and a young girl tripping over...the mercenaries. Clark sighed with relief and irritation, then walked over to the girl who had fallen and her companion who had helped her up. "You there," Clark growled at the boy who had fallen in the middle of the street, "don't move. I'll deal with you in a minute." The boy's attire didn't match up with the typical peasant or merchant in this area, which raised a giant red flag in Clark's mind. Clark dropped to one knee to be on the same level as the girl. "If you'd like to repay us, here's what you can do: if anyone asks about us, or this town, or what happened here, or ANYTHING like that...you tell them we went east. Got it? East." |

Benji pondered what the mercenary said. The group appeared to be on the run, not something Benji was keen to be a part of; and yet, it would mean they wouldn't stay in one place for too long, which meant less of a chance them being discovered. It was very tempting. "I don't think I would be able to tell anyone of your whereabouts if you allowed me and my sister to travel with you," Benji said, adjusting his glasses. "I am a mage of...some talent. My sister is...pretty much useless, but she is learning to fence." "I am not useless!" Dianna tried to draw her rapier, but almost fell when it stuck. "At any rate," Benji continued. "After your admirable display today, we would be honored to travel with a group of such moral caliber." |

OOC: Just so nobody asks, Sick's perspective will occasionally reference his old comrades, most of whom went by nicknames similar to his own. I'll get RP-only profiles up for them eventually. SICK Before Sick could respond to the man's offer, various commotions sprang up from the area around him. He'd spent enough time with Whiplash to know what somebody clumsily tripping over something sounded like, so he didn't even flinch. While the commander of the mercenaries seemed more interested in the girl that had tripped over his group's belongings, Sick looked over at the kid who had tripped in the middle of the street. He looks terrified out of his mind. I doubt he's here to cause any sort of trouble, at least not intentionally. Then he overheard the dark mage's proposition to the mercenary commander, and he snickered under his breath. Okay, that kid's got balls. Does he even realize that what he just said sounded like a threat? |

Clark eyed the pair warily, surprised by the boy's forwardness. "We've already got a few practitioners of magic, and I can name two proficient besides myself that are traveling with us." Clark stopped to think, then added, "Well, I suppose I can only name one, but I can point the other one out. The point is that unless you've got something special up your sleeve, you'd be nothing but dead weight." |

...this is probably a bad idea, but I don't see that I have much choice. "My parents were of mixed magical heritage," Benji began, pushing his glasses up his nose. "When people who practice different magics have a child, one of two things can happen. First," he gestured to his sister, "and most common, the child will end up talentless, as there is no...surplus of any one magic. My sister is quite harmless with a magic tome; worst case, she would throw it at you and run away crying." Benji smiled when Dianna glared at him, then poked around in his bag while he continued. "The second thing that can happen is...mutations. When all three magic types combine in one human, they can either nullify each other, or go crazy." Benji pulled out an empty elixir bottle, and neatly dropped it on the ground, making it shatter. "I know you're getting bored, I can see it," He said, waving his hand a little for the effect, "but you have to know that back story to understand what I can do. I have no talent in Anima, no penchant in Light, and I am a mediocre Elder mage at best. However, I can do this." Benji concentrate, his hand almost pulling at the broken elixir bottle. Suddenly, the pieces began to move, and as if the bottle were moving backwards through time, it shuddered and reformed, flying upwards and back into Benji's waiting palm. The mage gave the bottle to the mercenary, then wiped sweat from his pale face. "That's what I can do. Any mage can reform a bottle, I know, but there will be cracks; there are none in that bottle. Once you figure out how it was done, then you may kick me out of your group. I must go buy supplies for my sister and I." Benji walked off, leaving Dianna there with the mercenary. She looked almost pouty, then just blurted out "I can cook for large groups!" |

Clark scrutinized the bottle, turning it in his hand while searching for imperfections. True to the boy's word, though, Clark couldn't find a single one. Slipping the bottle into a pocket, Clark thought it over for a moment. "So you can cook," he said to the girl, "and he can fix broken things? Well, I can't say you'll be the most useful people to have around in a fight, but you'd definitely come in handy. Alright, you're in." His attention then shifted to the boy still lying face-down in the street. Clark shifted Emysia's weight so that she would be facing away from the boy, then redrew his sword and commanded, "Stand up. Now." |

Maria Valine Her blade slid smoothly into its ornate sheath, giving off one last flicker of light as it locked in place. It was only by the virtue of this Templar blade that she could even stand up to these foes, coordinating debilitating strikes of light energy with her new allies, allowing the valiant among them to match the enemy blow for blow. Maria admired their skill--abilities worthy of a general, blade-work that seemed wasted on the life of a mercenary. Following them was dangerous, perhaps even detrimental, but she was overcome by an insatiable curiosity. However, she did not have the luxury of freedom. Karaisali was meant to be her area of operations, and there was only so far she could twist her vague mission statement before she was fragrantly disobeying the Ankh's orders. The thought had not crossed her mind until a few hours ago...she was being followed, or more appropriately, shadowed. Both my blade and mind are free to act? Liars the lot of them! Stray even a little and you have to talk your way out of an inquisition! There were no words--the figure made himself known, and Maria's eyes widened. Face hidden and cloaked in black, the man's only identifiable feature was the minuscule ankh hanging from his neck. He motioned for Maria to follow him, leading her to a rundown building, one that had certainly been ransacked and long since abandoned. Two chairs and freshly baked bread had already been setup for them at a dusty table, hospitality that disturbed her further. Her left hand clasped the Sigma's hilt and tightened into a death grip as she was politely seated. Was this their idea of a joke? Maria could see through this polite protocol, knew what the man's garments signified, the task he was meant to perform. It was a station only recently revived, the church's personal executioner for heretics...heretics from within the organization. She feigned relaxation; logic screamed that she couldn't possibly be his target, but her heart would not stop racing in fear until the words came from his lips. At last, he removed his hood and addressed her. "At ease Lady Valine. This is not your last meal; we do not purge the holy." Exhale. She released her grasp on the Sigma and leaned back in the chair. Her cynical nature had whispered to her, stroking paranoia that her true target was already in Clark's band, and that she had committed both blasphemy and treason by aiding them. Still, that begged the question as to why the Ankh's assassin would appear before her--if not a battle to the death, then what business could he have? His appearance could not be without some significance. As if reading her mind he addressed the reason for his presence, his voice low and stern. "We are aware of the hardship you endured Karaisali, and we will discuss your choices later, once you are more informed. I'm afraid your mission has gotten considerably more dangerous Lady Valine, and I speak not of the mercenary's troubles." Cautious interest. "And so, I'm finally going to be informed about what I'm looking for?" He paused for a moment, removing a document from his cloak. It was the detailed report of a fellow Templar... "We spread our operatives all across Etruria, hoping to gain some valuable insight into the recent disturbances. While you stumbled upon an unfortunate mess, your former sword instructor confirmed our worst fears. Master Inold discovered the hideous underbelly of a cult, its heathenish rituals disturbing even our most passive brothers of the St. Elimine Church. Master Inold's final correspondence suggested that they are remnants of the same group we extirpated thirty years ago, at the height of our power..." "His final correspondence? Do you mean to tell me..." He sighed. "Master Inold is with God. He was murdered by the blasphemers, and with him all traces of the cult have vanished." A piercing chill. She could not discern what was more perturbing--the reveal of her actual target, or the death of her comrade. For years since their initial collapse The Ankh's Templars have been nothing more than glorified guardsmen, keeping the peace and getting paid for various jobs. And yet now, allied with the Elimine Church, they were being called upon to perform the same questionable duties the Templars of old took pride in...Maria took a deep breath, trying to wrap her head around this turn of events. Something didn't add up. "Forgive my impertinence, but since when has this been our place? The Elimine Church seemed satisfied to just use us as doormats; I'm sure they've dealt with cults and the spread of elder magic in their own ways...why turn to us?" He smiled. "We owe our change in status to Lord Desdin, one of the few nobles who has the church's ear. He has worked tirelessly to restore our power and good name within the past few months, and we are finally reaping the benefits. Soon our chapels shall give way to cathedrals, and our former glory restored. So long as we accomplish our tasks jubilation awaits, for House Valine and all of the Templars!" Yet another knife punctured her chest. She was well acquainted with Lord Desdin and loathed him to the core. Her superiors would sing his praises while Maria harbored doubt, a feeling that went beyond her cynical nature. There was something wholly unsettling about him, enough to make her want to avoid him whenever possible. Desdin must of found this amusing, as he would repeatedly seek her out when he sojourned at House Valine, bearing a thin facade that he knew would not fool her. Perhaps it was his own form of entertainment, a twisted reward for the only family member intelligent enough to avoid kissing his feet for power and resources. She knew nothing of his motivations, his schemes, or his past sins--all Maria knew was that he must have all three in excess. Are we really gaining back our power, or just walking into a noble's pocket? Maria leaned forward. "A glorious day indeed. What are my new orders?" Grave. "Stay alive. I discovered Master Inold's corpse only several miles away from this location, and I'm sure they now consider those bearing the garb of a Templar a threat. You are free to investigate any suspicious activity, but make use of these temporary allies. If they ambush you, make sure you are not alone." Dear God, you're using me as bait!? She grimaced. "Since I am not being ordered to withdraw, that...emphasizes the importance of this mission?" He nodded. "Yes. You are cautious and meticulous, traits that make you suitable for this task, along with those we will dispatch later. However, I must warn you. This group you are involved with...only stay while they are still useful. If the situation gets too dangerous, we urge you to leave. We can absolve you of any political trouble Lady Valine, but we cannot bring back the dead." As I thought, he's uncomfortable having a Templar attached to this runaway band. I'm sure he'd demand I leave if it weren't for the dangers of heading out alone. "I understand. With your permission, I shall take my leave." Dismissed. Maria stood up and began to walk out through the open door, leaving the uneaten bread behind. The Ankh's executioner chuckled as she hurried out, giving her one final piece of advice... "Remember, we are watching, Lady Valine." Maria winced. She hurried back to her allies, praying to God she'd never have to see that man's face again. |

Clark pointed his sword at the boy, standing close enough to be threatening. The boy was shaking like a leaf on a tree in a windstorm, which meant he was either a random passerby, or a terrible spy. Either way, Clark didn't want to take any chances. "What are you doing?" Clark demanded. He could care less about the boy's identity at this point. |

Evelyn By this point Evelyn was wondering if she would ever find the answers she was seeking about her old assignment and what had happened back in that ruined town but she figured now wasn't the time for such things. It wasn't like she had much of a choice either being chased by overgrown lizards all over the place. For the time being the magical properties they carried with them was by far more intriguing than anything else she would have found doing regular work anyways. How did it work, what kind of magic did it use, and could it be broken or penetrated or perhaps even replicated? Sticking around may well prove useful to me...if we don't get killed first. Looking up from her meditations her attention was caught by a peculiar child speaking with the boss. What was that just now? That certainly wasn't any of his "mediocre elder magic" in fact I couldn't feel anything at all so much as there was something there, completely unknown. Seems to leave too much strain to have great use and what little dark magic he has may try to corrupt him and use it even more. Might as well keep a fairly close on on that one, the last thing we need is a loose cannon that can do whatever that was large scale... |

The boy was rooted to the spot, still trembling with fear. Seeing that he wouldn't be able to coax a response out of him in a timely manner, Clark quickly decided on another course of action. "Y'know what?" he asked rhetorically, "Tell me later. Whether you're a spy or just some punk, we can't be taking any chances on you. You're coming with us." Clark turned to XEQ, who still looked prepared to fight. Clark admired that quality about the golem, and he was about to put it to good use. "XEQ, please continue to walk at the back of our group. If that boy tries to run--" Clark pointed to the terrified youth, "--you are to shoot him. Make it fatal." Satisfied with the situation, Clark addressed the remaining mercenaries. "Everyone, we've made a few new acquaintances." Clark gestured to the muscular giant. "The two children from earlier will be accompanying us as well. As for you," Clark faced Sick, "you're in need of a few introductions. My name is Clark. This lovely lady over my shoulder is Emysia. She's usually about this lively." Clark pointed to the mercenaries and named them off one by one. "The kid over there is Myke. Don't be fooled by his looks, he's pretty tough. The girl next to him is Lilane, and the boy over there is Tookie. The big guy with the axe is Griez, and the one next to him..." Clark stopped at Van. "Don't worry about him. I'm pretty sure he's a spy. I don't know that girl's name either, but go to her if you're injured. That...thing is XEQ. Just the letters. Streak's bound to be around here somewhere, he's a pretty lithe little guy. The man to my side here is Jarro, and...it seems we've lost Maria." Clark scowled, but his frown was quickly replaced by surprise. "Evelyn? When did you get back? No matter. We'll give those kids a few minutes to buy food and then we'll head out. ...That reminds me..." Clark walked over to XEQ and handed him a thick black robe with multiple folds and a very obvious line of stitching about three quarters of the way up. The tailor had been flabbergasted by Clark's request, and had to sew another pie pie piece of cloth onto the already long robe. "Cover up before we leave," Clark instructed the golem. "We need to be a bit less conspicuous." OOC: Sorry guys, but I need this to move along before it stagnates and dies. |

XEQ nods at the order and watches the boy intently. He doesn't seem like much of a threat, especially in comparison with the giant. And he isn't a wyvern either, but shooting those must come soon with the Bernese army chasing Clark. Then the commander gives it new robes. The golem removes its quiver and puts down its bow to wear the dark clothing. With this it returns to being a mysterious menacing figure instead of a clearly inhuman one. It then re-equips, taking out an arrow in readiness for shooting the boy, or any other target that may present itself. |

Streak watched and listened as the events unfolded from his perch on the roof. He scowled a bit as he heard Clark's orders for XEQ. I know he's got an army after him, but some of his decisions just don't feel right... still, we're moving again soon. Streak silently resolved to keep himself near the back of the group, closer to the golem, just in case it decided to try and stretch those orders. He still remembered the innocent man it had shot while exiting the village where the townspeople had revolted. Bounding back down into the alley, he emerged, arms crossed. "Ready to go whenever." |

OOC: Somewhat retro, considering I haven't been able to RP in a while JARRO "That is agreeable." Jarro replied to Clark. When Clark made mention that Bern held possession of enchanted weapons, Jarro grew intrigued. His own weapon, the Flaburg, was enchanted with the ability to use magic that was absorbed, similar to the wave of energy he felt during Kajan's attack, though the results weren't always desireable (ie. the flaming mudball!) Then several newcomers started showing up, but Jarro didn't care much about them, other than the giant of the man that appeared after the battle. He was very imtimidating, though not enough for Jarro to be afraid of, though he was clearly the tallest man he ever saw. As Clark introduced everyone (and was slightly pleased to find he wasn't on his list of potential spies) and then while Clark was adressing XEQ, Jarro moved towards the man and whispered towards him, "I'm pretty sure Clark is just too suspicious for his own good, but the man beside Griez is called Van." Jarro chuckled softly as he whispered then spoke in a more audible tone as he extended his hand for a handshake, "pleased to meet you." Edited by Soul, Aug 23 2010, 03:11 AM.

You forgot Relus, Tookie thought, but he wasn't going to say anything. Clark only knew the magician as someone who worked with an enemy (admittedly a profitable one, but that money was likely left in Karaisali), and with his reasonable concerns about spies pointing a former enemy out to him hardly seemed like a good idea. Van's entrance to the group raised a few warning flags in his own mind as well; friendship was all well and good, Tookie admitted, but it'dve taken a lot more than seeing a couple of old friends to force him to join in that fight against Byron's lot without any idea of what was going on. That is because you are a coward. The fight should be a reason in itself! Bask in the glory and beauty of the battlefield! Bathe in the blood of your enemies! Aaaand the crazy voice was back. Lovely. Stop thinking, Tookie told himself, you're only giving it more to work with. Just focus on not dying out here. --- Van resented his label- particularly with the amount of money he'd thrown away just by being here- but there was nothing he could do about it. Even if Griez and Lachelle were on board (as they usually weren't when he leaned towards the drastic), he doubted the three of them could subdue all of the others and just hand Vergant over to Bern. Protesting the label wouldn't do him any favours either... no, the best thing to do at this point would be to just stick with this group and try not to draw any more suspicions. The only way to prove he wasn't a spy, in his limited mind, was to simply keep not being a spy. |

OOC: Sick hasn't actually introduced himself yet, but okay. <_< SICK Sick nodded at Clark. "I usually just go by Sick," he said. "It's a... nickname, from some old friends I'm trying to find." He nodded at each of the people who he'd been introduced to. "I'm pretty sure Clark is just too suspicious for his own good, but the man beside Griez is called Van," said Jarro. "Pleased to meet you." "Good to meet you, too," Sick said as he shook the man's hand. "I don't know the details, but from what I can discern of his situation, I get the feeling that he believes paranoia to be the best path to his own survival." He looked around once again. The ones already in the group all appear to be capable fighters, even that golem... my fighting style might be different than theirs, but if there is a fight, nobody should slow anybody down here, as long as we can keep those kids out of the fray. OOC: Don't have time for much more. :\ |

OOC: Whoops, could've sworn he did so at some point but I guess not. It's okay though, just a couple minor edits really /: JARRO Jarro responded to Sick's musings, careful not to say too much about their situation, "Difficult to say really, we're honestly just a small band of mercenaries, though we're growing bigger each day. Well actually I should say they're growing bigger, because I'm not actually a member. I'm just here because of my job. In any case, it has certainly been interesting travelling with them." At the mention of the last sentence, Jarro quickly recalled the events of the day in his head. Between the sudden attack on Karaisali by Byron and the mercenaries battle with him, being chased by a batallion of wyverns and the events in this village, Jarro already had more than enough for the day, I just hope we can reach Augustria without too much happening in the meantime. I don't know how much more of this crazy day I can take. |

Benji tromped back to the mercenaries shortly, loaded with some food and other supplies after arguing with the shop keeper over his coins. He made a note to himself not to spend any more of them, lest he would have another argument because of the dragon stamped on the back of them. "Benji! The mercenaries accepted us! We're now real fighters!" Dianna crowed, flicking out her rapier in one jerky movement. She looked proud of herself, just making Benji smile. "Real fighters...awesome..." He mumbled sarcastically. He looked around, not knowing anyone and frankly not caring to make any sort of introduction. He would just travel with them for awhile, building his magic again and determining exactly where he and Dianna had ended up. (OOC: ...that's all I got.) |

(OOC: Hell, that's more than I expected, and all that we really needed.) Noticing that the two children had returned, Clark announced to everyone that they would be leaving now. "Lead the way," he told him. (OOC: I figured that with Clark carrying Emysia and Jarro being the one who knows people in Augustria, it'd be best for Jarro to be at the head of the group for now, Smoul.) |

JARRO His thoughts were interupted when Clark turned to Jarro and told him to lead the way. A tad shocked but not completely surprised that Clark didn't know the way himself, he supposed it made sense for Jarro to do it. Of course Jarro didn't know the way all that well but he knew of an alternate road that the mercenaries should take since the main road would likely be a bad idea at this point. He quickly responded, "Very well, the main road is likely to be too dangerous to traverse at this time but I know a good alternate road from here," and then he let out a light sigh as he made sure he knew which way to go and then started making his way out of the town due north, checking back to make sure the others were following. Hopefully, they could reach the city before night. |

Harmon and his men had finally broken into the castle, though they had forced their way in by blasting a hole in one of the outer walls. As such, Harmon wasn't sure which way led to the throne room. The nearest hallway had a set of stairs leading into what appeared to be the basement, and there was a strange glowing light coming from around the corner. Intrigued, Harmon led his soldiers into the depths of the castle. What they found was Ruve's dungeon. The light continued to shine brighter at the end of the rows of musty cells, but Harmon didn't see the source anywhere, which meant it must have been further back within the dungeon. The prisoners, hearing a commotion, had gotten to their feet and were now pressing themselves against the doors to their cells, trying to see who was causing the disturbance. Harmon eyed them warily; while it would be very inconvenient for the Ruve soldiers if he were to set them free, they were in the dungeon, which meant they had a reason for being down here. He knew that any of them was just as likely to attack him as the Ruve soldiers. Paying them no mind, he continued walking down the hallway, quietly urging his soldiers to avoid eye contact. |

Thaia "How long has it been since my capture? Days....months....?" Thaia stood up and pressed a hand up against the cell "It's been so long since I've seen the sunlight....Oh I would give just about anything to.." Just then she was cut off. Hearing a commotion down the hallway. She quickly backed up in the dark corner of the prison cell, fearing it was a soldier on his way down to punish her again. As the sound crept closer and closer to her cell, she looked up and noticed that the people marching quietly down the halls were not from Ruve. Seeing this as an opportunity for a potential escape, she quickly spoke up to the guy in the lead. "Sir......sir?" The guy ignored her. "Sir please...let me out of this cage....I was captured while doing a job with this group I was in.......please.....let me out" She raised her voice a little higher, trying to get the guys attention. "Sir....if it would make any difference to you, I can fight....I'm rather good with a sword, I'm sure I could be of use to you....besides...I want my revenge on the bastards that have locked me up in this cage..." She clenched the cell bars as hard as she could...fearing that her chance to get out of the dungeon was lost (OOC: There we go, i know its not the best....but its at least good enough as an intro RP) |

Harmon walked over to the cell that currently held the girl speaking to him, making sure to stay out of her reach. She didn't look like a dangerous criminal, but few people truly did. "Give me one reason I should trust you," Harmon demanded. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The trip to Augustria had been uneventful thus far. While still keeping an eye on Sora, Clark moved over toward Benji. Speaking in low tones, Clark asked, "So, kid, are you planning on telling me how you did that back there?" Thaia Thaia took a step back as the man approached the cage. Give me one reason I should trust you, She took a second to gather her thoughts, and after a few moments of silence, she opened her mouth to speak "To be quite honest, I really don't have any way of getting you to trust me. All I can ask is that you let me out of here and let me prove it to you. I don't care what you would have me do, just let me get some revenge on those bastards that locked me up..." She looked at the man up and down one last time and made one final comment. "I can tell you really don't want to let someone you don't know out of a cell who's been locked up for who knows how long and for god knows what reason, all that I ask is that you please give me a chance....." She paused "If I try to make one move against you in anyway, strike me down where I stand, I do not care". She stared in the eyes of the man, trying to persuade him that she was trust worthy enough" |

"So now where will we be looking?" asks Zibia, who is currently seated across from Jael at a small table. Ignoring the question, Jael continues to chew on her meat of questionable origin. Though it was claimed to be venison, Jael suspects an elderly horse might have died around here a few days ago. Her younger sister kicks her leg under the table. "Hey, what's next?" Jael swallows. A moment later, she finally responds. "We can't find them." "What?!" Zibia stands up and leans over the table, putting a hand on her sister's forehead. "Are you really giving up?" "Of course not. We just need to find someone who can find them. I already know that the Bernese military is after their commander, and their wyverns fly over all the time. One of them owes me, and the others might be willing to tell us something if we play things right," she explains, standing up and starting to pace around their rented room. Zibia coughs. "I hope you aren't planning to seduce them. You know you could never do that." The elder narrows her eyes. "Of course not. I'm perfectly aware of my own appearance. It shouldn't be necessary to go that far in any case. We have some important information that I'm sure their higher-ups back in Bern would want." "What information is that?" Zibia asks, confused. After a brief pause, Jael looks her right in the eyes. "Ravah has put a lot of effort into making sure that Bern especially knows nothing about the golems. A military kingdom could make good use of a few thousand almost indestructible troops, I should think. The ones I brought to Karaisali mysteriously vanished, but they can't learn much from the golems themselves." Zibia looks shocked and she grabs her sister by the shoulders, shaking her. "You can't do that! Our parents could be killed if they marched on Canna!" She shakes off her sister and walks to the door. "I'll have to lie, of course. But this is the best chance for finding XEQ. That's my goal. If I accomplish it, then I'll deal with the consequences later." She opens the door and walks out. Zibia grabs the remaining half of her stale biscuit and runs out after her. "I could seduce them instead!" she shouts, eliciting some funny looks from a man standing in the inn's main hall. NROOC: Me: I'm assuming that the patrolling troops don't have some magic invisibility thing, so they would be seen flying around the area. And I left the area vague, because J&Z have been searching around. So hopefully they can find and follow a soldier. |

OOC: Yep, you're correct. Every detachment has begun patrolling their assigned area, and only Claude and Kajan have left their posts so far. If you want, there are a few more named soldiers that will be introduced, so Jael and Zibia could run into them, or you can have them find a random nameless soldier instead. BIC: Harmon cocked an eyebrow. This one's got guts, he thought to himself. Deciding they would be better off freeing her, Harmon took a few steps away from the cell. "Stand off to the side," Harmon ordered the girl. Once she had done so, he once again muttered an incantation and thrust his spear toward the cell's lock. A blade of wind flew out of his spear and obliterated the lock as well as part of the wall behind it. Satisfied, Harmon divided his men into three teams. "Group A will make sure Sydelle and his team make it into the castle. Group B will cause a diversion and join the fight once Sydelle's men are inside. Group C will follow me further underneath the castle." Turning to the prisoner he had just freed, he added, "You'll be in group B." The soldiers of Gast nodded and saluted their leader, then set out to perform their assigned tasks. Harmon's group moved cautiously toward the ominous glow coming from around the corner, gripping their weapons tighter with each step. "Let's see what old Ruve's been up to lately." |

OOC: Okay, I think I honestly left this lingering long enough. But first a side quest! *shot* REXALL (OOC: It really is a side quest! *shot*) The Augustrian Crusaders rode for a few hours now, though finally nearing their destination. When word of Bern's involvement in Etruian affairs reached Augustria, the castle had been left in an uproar, but Duke Therrien had managed to maintain order and eventually selected Rexall and his men the assignment of aiding Sydelle and Gast in their current war with Ruve. Rexall had no idea if they would arrive in time however, as his orders contained a little detour that would set any potential time of arrival back to at least tomorrow afternoon. He understood the reason for it however. The biggest hope would be that the Crusaders would finally attain the glory they had been denied with the conclusion of the last war before they would even get a single battle. Truthfully, the Crusaders had begun training just before the start of the last war, fearing an attack from Bern would eventually be inevitable. But though their training had been stalled during the brief civil war, ignited by Bern itself, they eventually managed to carry on in secret before Etruria was freed from Bern. However, the war would conclude far too soon, long before they reached an adequate level of training and were able to be deployed on the battlefield. Rexall himself had only seen brief moments of action, but he was byfar the most experienced soldier among the group. The versatility the Crusaders provided were immense, adept at both close and long range combat, combined with the ability to use several different weaponry to adapt to any situation, as well as the mobility provided on horseback, many believed them to be perfect natural counters to wyverns, though Rexall knew they could be used in almost any combat situation. Unfortunately, the rigourous training required left many who originally aspired to become a Crusader to leave, which left precious few men; 8 to be exactly including the two healers he had recieved as well; Rexall could count on to provide reinforcements for Sydelle. That was why the trip to Karaisali was so important, as the place was almost a hotspot for mercenaries, and two of Etruia's most renowned groups made their homes there. Rexall hoped to hire them to supplement his own forces, but also to prevent Bern from possibly doing the same. Rexall didn't much trust men who made their living fighting but the situation almost called for as many arms as he could muster. As Rexall neared the top of the last hill before Karaisali would come into view, Rexall was going over his mind the rest of the day's orders in his head, and hopefully get a chance to rest his weary entourage for the big battle tomorrow. His thoughts quickly blanked as he was met with a shocking scene as soon as Karaisali came into few completely ablaze. He motioned his horse to a full stop and only looked on in shock for a few brief moments as his men had done the same, thinking only what could possibly had happened here. He prayed that Bern had not already begun their attack, though the fact that not a single wyvern was spotted in the air on the way here left him dubious of that but it was still possible. Either way, he snapped out of his shock and quickly motioned his men towards the village, now having to forsake his current plan as it was now his obligation to assist the people of the village as best he could. As they arrived, the sight of the village was worse than he originally feared, as family members were left trying desperately to rescue their trapped loved ones, assuming they were still alive, and many laid dead. Craters and destroyed homes were scattered about as well, leaving Rexall with only one question in his mind, "What the fuck happened here?" His thoughts were temporarily halted when he spotted the last person he honestly expected, the sight of one of his former recruits, laying unconscious with his armor visibly shattered though surprisingly few wounds could be found on his body. Not really caring all that much he motioned one of his healers to heal him and then came in close to inspect him personally. When it looked like he was starting to come to, Rexall grabbed him by the collar and started smacking him across the face while scowling, "C'mon, wake up boy!" After a few moments, Rowan finally reacted to the smacking by placing his arm across his cheek while saying, "Ow! What the hell?" Rexall proceed to drop him which jolted him wide awake. Rowan was perplexed for a moment but quickly recovered when he noticed who was standing in front of him. He scrambled to his feet while saluting, "C-commander Rexall! What are you doing here?" Rexall let out a slight chuckle at the sight and responded, "At least you still have some respect. But nevermind that, what the hell happened here?" Rowan scratched his head as he tried to remember what happened but most of it was a blur, "I'm uh, not quite sure. I think there was some little war going on between a couple of guys and I remember some fireballs raining down from the sky, but its a big blur really." Rexall was clearly disappointed in that he proved to be completely useless, but he cut Rowan some slack, due to not having seen him in a couple years and responded, "Right, well if you can't remember then don't worry about it too much. Probably someone in here that knows exactly what happened. You just get some rest." Rexall and his men departed leaving Rowan on his own. He could tell he was just mocked by the man but somehow he didn't respond to it. In fact he didn't care much about anything at the moment other than what the commander himself was doing here. It meant something big was going on. But he doubted he'd be able to learn anything from him so he did the next most logical thing in his mind. He mounted his horse which was still by his side, perhaps surprisingly and began to head straight for Augustria, without even taking the time to address his mess of an appearance. Or really actually think things through. Oh well. Meanwhile, Rexall made his way to where the people seemed to be most active, with his men in tow and as he examined the scene before him, he shouted, "Attention! People of Karaisali! I am General Rexall Slithers of Augustria! I wish to speak to the man in charge here!" OOC: I'll do Jarro later, possibly tomorrow. This is long enough as is X.x |

Ralheim's attention was drawn away by an armored man shouting close to him. He ambled over to the man to respond to his request, hoping to enlist the help of his soldiers in cleaning up their town. "I'm afraid you won't find anyone like that around here," Ralheim said. "Karaisali is too far south to fall under the domain of any nobles, so the town is self-governed." |

NROOC: Me: I think I've left Swanson hanging long enough. XEQ follows the other mercenaries, marching at the rear with an arrow notched into its bow in preparation. If any of the newcomers does anything out of the ordinary, then arrows will fly. If XEQ were human, it would be appropriate to say that it hopes for such an event. But a golem's mind isn't quite advanced enough for true hope to exist. Instead, it merely hungers for a chance to shoot something. Swanson, now wearing mismatched pickings from the miraculously unharmed tailor's shop, makes his way toward the sound of horses' hooves. He is a mere shadow of his normal self, covered in soot and moving listlessly. Once he reaches the crowd around the mounted men, he coughs, conditioned by years of affluence to expect everybody to move out of his way. Instead, the nearest people of Karaisali are relieved that he is not in fact a zombie, and start to shove him back. Even at a time like this, nobody wants to be seen with such a filthy man. So Swanson is forced to speak. "Ahem, my name is Swanson Brot, and you, smallfolk, are in my way. I wish to speak with this fine General here, but we are too far apart for polite discussion." He makes a small gesture as if to sweep the people away. There is no response, as nobody was actually listening. |

OOC: *shrug* I have a feeling you may not have thought everything through Seth. REXALL Rexall acknowledged the man and responded in turn, "I am well aware of your town's political situation but even a small town like this needs some leadership in times of crisis. Or are you telling me no such thing exists here? In any case, I'm not interested in debating these things. If no such person truly exists then you will have to do. I wish to know exactly what transpired in this town right up to this point." He paused, "And also I wish to know the location of the base of operations for both Kallen's mercenary group and Byron's Fury." JARRO The group finally passed through the forest and were now halfway to their destination. The ocean was visible on the left side and though the mercenaries couldn't tell from there position, a small beach was situated just below the cliff that cut between them and the water. The group continued down a little kept path, one that may have been commonly used in ages past but was long abandoned since. Though difficult to traverse, the overgrown grass provided a very useful cover in case a squadron of wyverns happen to fly overhead. Though the presense of Sick and XEQ probably would have thrown that idea in disarray, Jarro was certain that wyvern squadrons would not travel this far out from the main road so it probably would not matter. As they continued their journey, eventually the city of Augustria came into view. Though as they quickly approached it, Jarro could tell something was going on. Far more guards were stationed on the gate walls than usual, and most of them were archers and mages. Furthermore, the main gate was left closed when it was usually open, even at this late hour. Jarro thought for a moment that perhaps word of Bern's invasion had already reached Augustria, but then rationalized it as perhaps some wyverns were spotted nearby and knowing Duke Therrien, he was probably just being way too cautious. It was still strange to see. As they were approaching the gate, Jarro could tell there was some movement atop the walls. But seeing that no new men had been added to them meant either that they weren't a threat to them (not that they honestly were to begin with, Jarro thought to himself since there was no way they could just assault a major city in the state they were in with the numbers they had) or that they recognized Jarro leading the group. Jarro probably figured it was the latter. His thoughts were later confirmed when he saw the gates opening and a fimiliar man was standing at them. Jarro motioned for the mercenaries to stop as he began approaching the man. "Sir Jarro, if I may ask, what in blazes are you doing here? We didn't receive any word you were coming and everything's a mess right now." "Save it Barnes, I have dire news to report. I have come with Kallen's group. I need to speak with the Duke immediately. Send someone to let him know, and also for someone to prepare some rooms within the castle." The man nodded, "Yes, right away sir." And then turned to leave. Jarro turned back to the mercenaries and said to them, "Alright, let's head inside." Jarro examined Augustria's city as he waited for the mercenaries to head inside. It held a majestic beauty like no other city he's ever been in, and the city developed a reputation as one of the best in the continent. Its centerpiece, a large fountain that extended for several meters alone was a sight to behold. But the city was built with defense in mind as much as beauty and the fountain was also the main point of defense should the walls be breeched. It was too deep to simple cross and the length meant that enemies were easy pickings for long ranged attacks and especially the ballistae battery that was situated just atop of the entrance to the castle. Eventually, they reached the entrance to the castle where a servant was waiting there for him. Jarro approached the man as he began speaking, "It's good to see you well sir, the duke has requested Kallen's presense as well as yours. The others will be taken to their rooms." Jarro nodded at the man and then walked up to Clark and told him in abit of a hushed tone, "I must apologize for not telling you this earlier, but I needed to remain as inconspicuous as possible when outside these walls. My employer or master, whatever you want to call it, is Duke Therrien of Augustria, the man we're going to see right now. As for the others," he began to raise his voice, "I'm sure you must be exhausted by now, my good friend here will show you to your rooms so that you may rest." OOC: Whee I got like maybe 5 more RPs left to write before we can even start 11-K though. But for now, you get this. |

OOC: If you're talking about the form of government employed by Karaisali...then yes, you would be correct. I probably should've given it more thought. <_<;; BIC: "I suppose I can't argue with that," Ralheim replied. "The damage you see before you was caused by none other than the mercenary groups you seek. To be more specific, Byron's men launched an attack on town, and Kallen's men responded by attacking them." "Point of clarification, General," Ocelot interjected, putting his elbow up on Ralheim's shoulder. "This was all caused by one woman...one very, very angry woman. She was killed in the battle, though." Ralheim nudged Ocelot off of his shoulder. "I didn't see everything that happened, but Kallen's men fled when a group of wyverns flew overhead. They ran back into the town, but we've searched for hours and there's no sign of them. As for Byron's men--" "--They've flown the coop," Ocelot chimed in. Ralheim nodded. "If you'll follow me, I'll show you to Kallen's mercenary base." Ocelot followed along as well. "Osprey! Bring the girl, too!" he commanded. "She should be of some use!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Clark cocked an eyebrow. "I had a feeling you worked for someone rich, but I wouldn't have guessed anything like this," he muttered so only Jarro could hear. He wanted to ask why Jarro had spoken about the mercenaries to someone they had never met as though he should be familiar with them, but Clark had a feeling he already knew why that was. He remained tense and alert as he followed along behind Jarro. |

Zibia follows Jael to the stable outside the inn. She dashes forward and positions herself between the flying horse and her sister. Jael glares at her, then grabs her arm and tries to pull the girl out of the way. "Hey!" shouts Zibia, grabbing onto the same post that the steed is tied up on. "We have to talk about this, Jael! You're being stupid!" Jael scowls. "No, I'm doing what I have to do. I've come all this way to get to XEQ and now it's escaped. Getting help from these soldiers is the best chance I have of finding that monster." She lets go of her sister and pushes past toward the pegasus. Zibia responds by grabbing the reins so that Jael can't get the animal out of the stable. "But if you tell the soldiers about the golems, they'll invade our home and people will get killed!" Silent and still for a few moments, Jael could almost be mistaken for a golem by a one-eyed, color-blind drunk. "More will die with XEQ still alive. If there's no resistance, Bern won't need to kill anybody except Ravah. If Ravah can even be killed, I mean." Zibia looks down, loosening her grasp on the reins. "Maybe... maybe that's how it'll be. But things will still go bad without the golems. Everything is based on them. We'll all be poor!" She looks back up at Jael, frowning. "Not that you care about that, now that you're some kind of thief! Are you really ever going to return this pegasus?" Suddenly they hear a curse coming from the entrance to the stable. Both heads turn to the sound, and they see a short, hairy man glaring back at them. "Shoulda known. Yous don' look Ilian." He shakes his head and walks toward them, still with a nasty look on his face. "Scum like yous mus' be Sacaean, am I righ'?" "No!" replies Zibia, eyes wide, while at the same time Jael nods slowly. The bearded man spits on the floor at Zibia's feet, causing her to hop back and nearly collide with Jael. "Don' even got yer story straigh'. Don' matta. 'F it ain' yer horse, yous can' stop me from takin' it. Move it, gals." He draws a large knife as he says this. But before he can do anything else, the room is illuminated by a bright flash of light. As soon as it fades, Zibia opens her eyes and dashes around the man and out of the stable, shouting for help. A portly man exiting the inn rushes over at her cry and looks inside the stable, only to see Jael mounted on the pegasus and leaning over towards the hirsute thief with an axe in her hands. "What's all this?" Jael takes a hand off the axe when her assailant turns, and pulls on the rein instead. The pegasus kicks out at the man, then tramples over him on its way toward the door. She escapes both the man with the knife and her younger sister, and somehow gets the pegasus to take off, despite Zibia running behind her and yelling "No! Wait! Stop!" |

REXALL Rexall listened to the men carefully, trying to absorb the information carefully. He could hardly believe that this whole mess was caused by a single feud but he was more shocked and concerned about the presence of wyverns that were spotted flying over the village. And that Kallen's men fled as soon as they showed up was suspicious but he couldn't possibly figure out what significance it had though if he had to guess, it was likely that Kallen's group was no longer here. It was more troubling that Byron's group had also fled. That meant that if they were unable to find any other possible mercenary groups here, their trip would have been a huge waste of time that they could just not afford to waste right now. But at the very least, people are in trouble here so Rexall knew that he was obligated to provide assistance while he tried to gather more information. He replied to the men, "Very well gentlemen. You may lead the way. I'll have my second in command accompany me, and leave the others to assist your efforts in controlling the damage to this village. I trust that will be acceptable." He motioned his arm and his troups immediately understood their orders and began to carry them out. OOC: Lewa, if you want Swanson to talk with Rexall, it'll probably be best if you followed him. Or you could try speaking to one of his soldiers. JARRO Jarro proceeded towards the court room with Clark following behind. Had the circumstances not gone the way they have, he probably wouldn't have needed to reveal what he did to Clark but he guessed it wouldn't be a significant long term detriment. As he walked, he noticed that there were few guards posted within the castle itself, but given the large number on the walls, it was probably logical that fewer would be posted within. It mattered little to Jarro though. Eventually, they reached a large door with two guards posted outside and as Jarro approached, the two men gave him a standard military salute and said that the two may enter and opened the door. As Jarro walked inside, he noticed that Duke Therrien was talking with General Tarquin himself, head of Augustria's military affairs. The Duke himself was a relatively young man, even younger than Jarro himself though he looked far more regal. Tarquin on the other hand was a far older gentleman who earned his position though his combat experience and intelligence. Jarro remembered Tarquin being General for as long as he could remember, even back when he was serving the current Duke's previous father, who had died of illness about 10 years prior. Jarro was happy to continue serving the new Duke and eventually earned his place as his right hand man. Still these were two great men to stand before the two, two men Jarro knew would be capable of keeping Augustria prosperous for many years to come. Assuming the current threat Bern posses does not interfere with that. They stopped speaking when they noticed Jarro was making his way towards them and once he was at an acceptable speaking distance, he dropped to one knee and bowed to his Lord as he got up and said to him, "Ah, Jarro, it is good to see you are well, though it is troubling you failed to contact us that you were coming." Jarro got up and began his explaination, "I apologize my Lord, certain circumstances prevented me from being able to get a message to you prior." Therrien stood motionless for a second before responding, "I see. The messenger said you had dire news to report." Jarro cleared his throat, "Yes uhh, you see, I have reason to believe that Bern may be planning an invasion of Etruia as we speak and have already begun their movement. I believe Clark would be able to shed more detail on the matter than I would be." Jarro took as step back as he finished speaking, while the Duke seemed only mildly surprised at the news, not quite the reaction that Jarro was expecting. Therrien turned towards Clark, "I see. So you are Clark Kallen I take it? I would appreaciate any input you can give on this apparently threat by Bern." OOC: Kinda shitty but w/e. |

After recovering from the ignominy of being ignored, Swanson follows after the general. "Excuse me! General Slithers!" He actively pushes his way through the unruly serfs this time, trying to get closer to the mounted military man. The ex-noble continues to speak to the man, presuming that an officer would be polite enough to listen when addressed. "Your presence is the first bit of good luck I've had in a while. I'll be accompanying you back to Augustria," he says, still acting the noble despite his situation. Swanson examines the general's horse and nods. "A fine courser, I'd say. I had better horses, but cruel fortune took them from me too soon." He makes an exaggerated sign of woe. |

Clark nodded curtly to the duke. "Bern has several squads of wyvern riders hunting my men and I at the moment, though if they really are planning an invasion, that's likely just a scapegoat," he said. "They'd certainly like to silence me, but they wouldn't have brought so many men for such a simple task. "As for what they'd like to keep quiet," Clark continued, "certain higher-ups in the Bern military were taking a bit too much when it came time to collect protection fees from some of the mountain villages. Villages can be protected in one of two ways. The first is the tributary way, in which the village pays for additional protection from outsiders in exchange for some of their crops, livestock, or whatever else could be of use. "The other is the servant way." Clark began to pace. "Some villages choose this one, but those who can't meet their tributary payments have to default to it. Basically, these villages don't pay a thing for military intervention during times of relative peace. However, their land is treated as military property, and if war breaks out, they can do what they like with it. Civilians can be evacuated to shelters and all of their resources can be seized by the military to ensure their protection. It looks less shady politically if leaders slowly push villages into this state before a war so that it doesn't seem forced when the soldiers take hold of the place, but it's highly illegal nowadays. "The strange part, though...I mean, it's possible that I only witnessed a portion of their operation, but from what I saw, General Lars Marakken and those under him only seemed to be targeting areas known for their mining ability; no livestock, no crops, nothing." Clark paused momentarily to let his words sink in. "They tried to buy my silence, but I turned them down, packed my bags, and ran for it. Since then, we've had a few run-ins with their soldiers...and to put it lightly, they've sent some damn good men. I don't know much of what Etruria's general situation has been over the past few years, but Marakken's not joking around." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ralheim and a few of Ocelot's mercenaries led General Slithers and his right-hand man south toward the outskirts of Karaisali. There, nearly untouched by Jane's cataclysmic rampage, sat the small building from which Kallen and his mercenaries had conducted their business. "I don't know what you expect to find in there," Ralheim said, "but this is it." "I'm sure this one will be helpful too," Ocelot said, smirking as he gestured toward Melanie. "You don't have to hold me captive," she growled. "I said I'd cooperate willingly." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ OOC: Plot? In one of MY posts? It's more likely than you think! |

OOC: I probably should have gotten around to this sooner. But no one else RPing really makes it hard to motivate myself to do these /: JARRO The three listened to Clark's story as he explains exactly what led him to flee Bern in the first place. Jarro suspected that there was more to the story than Clark was letting on, given the way that one man was so eager trying to get to Clark, Or perhaps he was just a very angry man. Still if Clark didn't want to bring up anything else, then Jarro wasn't going to push it. It was his choice. Therrien began whispering something to Tarquin that Jarro couldn't quite hear, but when he finished he turned back towards Clark, "A very intriguing tale. While I cannot quite imagine what this Marakken is up to. I believe I may have a good idea where this is leading." Jarro gave a quizical look to Therrien, "My lord? What exactly do you mean?" Therrien paused for a moment before giving out a slight sigh, "Jarro, are you not aware that one day after you left Sydelle, Ruve had launched an invasion against Sydelle?" Jarro was shocked to hear that, while he knew Ruve was up to something, he just didn't know what. Still it made sense. He replied to Therrien, "No, my Lord. We've been on the run for most of the day so..." Therrien quick cut him off, "I see. Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised then. One of our agents reported the invasion and that Sydelle was able to rout Ruve's initial attack, with help, of course. Gast had joined in on the battle with some mercenary group they hired. Our agent expressed concern that it wasn't your group that was there, actually. Currently they're marching against Ruve's capital as we speak, but I am unsure how suscessful a counter invasion will be. We have sent some of our own soldiers to the front as well. However what turned out to be most troubling is that we've learned that Bern forces have apparently allied with Ruve, but have yet to arrive to their aide, as far as we know." Jarro listened to Therrien's words carefully. He was caught offguard when he mentioned that he already knew of Bern's involvement. Today was just chock full of surprises apparently. "My Lord, you already knew?" Therrien let out a soft chuckle in response, "Yes my friend. Ironic that you would learn more from this meeting than I would. But Clark may have given out the most vital piece of information, because I believe I may be able to figure out what exactly this Marakken may be planning. While this is only speculation, I find it odd that if Bern was in fact planning an invasion, why would they ignore a potential ally in Ruve, who would surely greatly assist them in such an endevour. While I cannot totally rule out an invasion, perhaps he's not planning an invasion but instead planning on provoking Etruria into war with Bern. While at first the scenario seems completely foolish, if we consider what Clark has told us, perhaps there's something in these territories that's of great interest to this man. He is also most likely acting independantly, perhaps using Clark as a mask to hide his true intentions, but if Etruria were to counter attack, there would be nothing stopping him from claiming the resources he seems interested in and then sitting back and watching everything unfold before him." Jarro stood there completely baffled by Therrien's conclusion. While he was prone to thinking up seemingly illogical explainations, at the same time there was often a solid line of thinking behind them that Jarro cannot possibly grasp. Either way, "My Lord, are you serious? That kind of plan seems far too illogical, even if we assume this man cares nothing about what happens to Bern. He would surely be hunted down, hell his own men could turn on him if they were to know what he was thinking." Therrien resplied to Jarro's concerns, "I did say it was speculation, Jarro. But at the same time it doesn't matter what he's planning to us, as Etruria's safety is our utmost priority and until he have a clear grasp what he's thinking, we can only continue to assume that he's planning to invade. I would be interested in knowing exactly what was in these territories, to perhaps get a better grasp on his intentions. Clark, perhaps you can shed light on the matter?" OOC: itt, Soul gets a crazy idea and runs with it ![]() Also, Rexall comes later. |

NROOC: Me: Yeah, I know I haven't been RPing enough. I don't think I've done anything with XEQ since the band arrived. Let's see if I can't address that. XEQ stands. It does not put down its bow. It does not show any sign of movement. It simply stands. Outside of its assigned room, servants keep glancing inside at the motionless archer and whispering amongst themselves. One could say that this is impolite or unprofessional, but the room does have a door, and if the occupant didn't want to be seen, it would be closed. Right? But the golem doesn't care about the door, or the servants. They aren't armed, and hunting them down would be a waste of arrows. These are mere mice in comparison to the wyverns that XEQ was expecting to be shooting at by now. |

NROOC: Me: I could just edit this into my last post, but then nobody would read it. So commence juvenile feline extermination. Jael takes the pegasus up over the small town, looking for a wyvern. They aren't easy to miss, but she seems to have picked a bad time, as none are visible as far as her eyes can see. I'll just fly back toward Karaisali. They can't be far. As she turns the pegasus, she glances down and sees a small figure jumping up and down and waving its arms at her. Will she be alright on her own? Oh, but she came all the way here by herself. How did she do that? Could she- No. Stop thinking about it. What is important now is getting to that bloodthirsty archer. "Sigh," says Zibia, letting her arms and head drop. Now what? I can't fly. Even if I could, she's too stupid to listen right now. If only I'd let the pegasus go free when I had the chance. The girl starts walking back to the inn. She puts her hand into her satchel and pulls out a Light tome, frowning at it. What good are you, then? You let her get away. "What's wrong?" asks a slow male voice from off to Zibia's left. She looks over at the man and takes a step back. "Nothing that concerns a creepy old man" she replies, putting her hands on her hips. The man is fairly muscular, but not all that much taller than Jael. He seems to be composed mainly of scar tissue, and is even missing an arm. He scowls at Zibia, then talks, his mouth moving slowly and carefully. "I'm not old. I'm cursed." "Cursed?" she asks, ignoring his claim of youth. He nods, pushing his foot forward without lifting it. "I don't feel pain. It's because my da killed the Witch's cat. He didn't mean to, but it happened." Zibia snorts. "Oh, that sounds like a terrible curse! Maybe everybody should go around killing witches' cats." "No!" he shouts, bringing his left arm up to point to the place where his right should be. "I broke it, but I didn't know until it was too late. The healer had to take the whole thing off." Then he points to his right eye, which is similarly absent. "I poked it out when nobody was looking when I was just a little boy. I have to be careful all the time." "Wow," is all she says in response, too busy thinking about the ramifications to say anything else. "And I'm not old. I'm only eighteen," he lies. This gets a response. Zibia gapes at him. "No way! You look ancient! You're really only three years older than me?" He raises an eyebrow. "Wait, you're fifteen?" He looks around, then slides himself along the ground toward her and says, in a quieter voice, "Actually, I'm just sixteen. I'm only pretending to be eighteen so they take me seriously." She shakes her head, stepping back and waving her hands in front of herself. "Don't come near me with that curse! I don't want to be an old cripple before my time!" "So you believe I'm sixteen?" he asks, sounding almost hopeful despite the deliberate motions of his tongue and jaw. Zibia shrugs. "You'd have to be an idiot to change your lie from being eighteen to sixteen if I didn't believe you at first. So you're probably just telling the truth." Suddenly, the church bell nearby tolls the hour. Zibia puts her book back into her satchel, then looks at the cursed boy. "I have to be back at the inn so they don't rent out the room to somebody else." "Right," he says, nodding. "Oh, my name is Gulliver." "I'm Zibia. Nice meeting you, Gulliver," she says with a brief smile before running off. He watches her go, belatedly raising his arm to wave. NROOC: Me: Oh, so I changed my mind about Gulliver joining Byron's Fury, at least for the moment. He might still get there at some point. |

OOC: Okay then, Rexall time REXALL As Rexall was making his way towards Clark's base of operations, he heard a voice adressing him. He continued a steady pace but did pay the man some attention and listened to him as he rode along to keep pace. When he finished Rexall responded to the man, "I must apologize but our destination for the time being will be Sydelle. You are more than welcome to join us if you wish but I warn you that it could be a dangerous trip." After a short trot, the group made their way to what appeared to be a relatively small building. A nice quiet place just outside the town was something Rexall could appreciate after spending most of his life in the bustling city. He didn't particularly mind the noise, but he could appreciate the calm that quiet brought, allowing him to simply relax and think. During stressful times, he would always try to seek some quiet to sort things out in his head before doing anything else, but at any rate, this wasn't the time to be thinking right now. Rexall dismounted and gave the men his thanks as he strode on. Upon reaching the door, he quickly gave a couple knocks and when he heard no signs of movement inside, simply opened it and walked in and examined the room he walked into. It appeared to be some sort of office of some kind. The place was abit of a mess but it definitely looked like no one was around so he gave a quick shout, "Hey! Anyone in here?" In truth he didn't expect anyone but it was probably a good idea to make sure. |

OOC: Therrien's conclusion is very well-thought out, but is he correct? Only time will tell. Spoiler: click to toggle BIC: "There were a few areas notable for plants and minerals used for their magical properties, though most of them specialize in mining various ores. They've probably seized my estate as well, come to think of it," Clark added, recalling the letter he had received. "I'd like to believe Marakken isn't pitting the two countries against each other, but your proposal seems fairly realistic given the situation." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Melanie grumpily edged her way past Rexall into her old office. Gesturing to the various areas behind the desk, she stated, "Job records are kept in this cabinet, mercenary dossiers in that one, and everything pertaining to Bern is in the closet set into the wall behind the desk." She waited impatiently for her services to be required once more. OOC: Yeah, it's short, but I don't really have a whole lot to add. =/ |

"Sydelle?" repeats Swanson, pausing to frown. "I haven't been in a long time. The old Duke was healthy last I saw, and now he's dead." After an exaggerated sigh, he continues, "I would prefer to go to Augustria, but anyplace is better than this wretched hive of poverty." As the mustachioed man speaks, he falls behind the mounted general, and ends up speaking to nobody (as if that weren't already the case). Nonetheless, he follows the small group to the mercenary building, simply to avoid losing his ride. Once there, he tuts and shakes his head. |

OOC: And then, there was advancement! JARRO Therrien contemplated what Clark said for a moment then concluded, "I see. Unfortunately, that doesn't tell us very much. In any case, as I said, our main priority is Etruria's safety. I held the initiative to send some of our Crusaders to Sydelle, but now I fear I may have sent them off in the wrong direction, but there's little that can be done about that now. I suppose I shall have to further contemplate on this matter. For now, thank you for your time, you two are dismissed." Jarro nodded and because turning back but stopped in his tracks as Therrien began speaking again, "Oh, err, Jarro, one last thing, could you come here for a moment?" Jarro sighed but obeyed just the same. Once he walked up to Therrien, the Duke began speaking in a hushed tone, "Jarro, I need you to visit my room tonight. I need to speak with you in private. Also, bring Clark along if you can, and take the secret passage." Jarro was left perplexed by the sudden request so he knew it had to be important. He replied, "Very well, my Lord." Therrien gave Jarro a clap on his shoulder, "Good. I'll see you tonight then." Jarro departed and walked out of the throne room, where he found Clark waiting by the exit. He nodded to the man, "I guess I'll take you to the others." As the two began walking Jarro began speaking again, "I suppose there's more going on then I initially realized. I knew Ruve was up to something, but... I imagine that civillian rebellion was his doing. For now, I suppose we rest for the night. I'll speak with the Duke later to let him know of your intentions. I think he'll continue having me accompany you." After a few more moments walking, Jarro spotted XEQ waiting outside the guest rooms. Here, Jarro stopped and turned towards Clark, "Oh by the way, can you meet me by the grand fountain this evening? There's something I need to do and it would help if you were there. I'll explain the details later." REXALL The yound lady that was accompanying the group moved toward the front and began pointing out different cabinets within the office. Rexall was left a little perplexed because he had no idea who she was. But regardless, he took the shock with a straight face, "Ah. Thank you young miss. I suppose the information on Bern would be a good place to start, if you would?" Well he normally wasn't one to order people around but she probably had a better idea of exactly what to look for. She looked grumpy though, but he doubted she would try attacking him with anything. Hopefully... OOC: Well, since you gave me little to work with, this is what you get >.> Also, technically speaking, Sydelle is only maginally better than Karaisali, but that's merely because one town's practically completely destroyed and the other isn't Edited by Soul, Nov 10 2010, 02:09 PM.

Clark spent the evening wandering the town aimlessly as he waited for nightfall. He admired the city's extravagant beauty; it surpassed the castle-towns of most of the nobility in Bern that he had seen, and their marketplace was buzzing with activity. Clark considered buying a new set of armor, but after considering his financial situation he decided against it. Taking a seat against the base of a tree that was relatively close to the fountain, Clark relaxed for the first time in weeks and watched the passersby as they went about their daily business. The city functioned like most he had been in, though there was a hint of tension in the air. Clark probably wouldn't have noticed if not for the greeting they had been faced with at the city's entrance earlier that day. As the sun sank behind the hills in the distance and people began returning to their homes, Clark waited silently for Jarro. His eyes flitted cyclically around his surroundings as they scanned for potential threats, and his hand never left the hilt of his sword. |

OOC: Whee JARRO Jarro returned to his room after Clark accepted his request, fully intent on writing a full report on the events that occured between Ghast and now. The first encounter with Clark to the events at Sydelle. The return trip to Karaisali, including the ambush set up by that girl. Come to think of it, I really don't remember much about that. I probably would have forgotten completely if XEQ wasn't around. And then the information on today, including the attack on Karaisali by Byron and the subsequent battle, and the attack from Bern. The ambush at the village. Pretty much all the way up to arriving to Augustria. Once he finished, he took a moment to stare out his window, to the wide open sea. He always appreciated this view, particularly in times of stress, as it helped him to relax. Afterwards, he folded the parchment neatly and summoned a servant to deliver it. With that done, he decided it was time to pay a visit to Darius, and speak with him about his sword. Perhaps he had an answer to why it started to show abnormalities. Afterall, he basically designed the sword, or at least designed the enchantment for it. Jarro himself had little knowledge of the enchantment itself, only that it'd only hold onto a weapon made from a rare, specific metal. The ultimate goal of the project was to design a weapon capable of augmenting a person trained in physical combat to wield magic. The "Mageknight". A warrior that surpasses even the Crusaders in versatility and power. If successful, Augustria would suddenly have the most powerful military force on the continent. Yet the process of creating such a weapon was far from perfect and also very difficult. To date, Jarro knew of only one successful attempt, the sword he himself employs. Having little magic to draw upon himself, and being the Duke's right hand man allowed Jarro the first opportunity to wield the weapon, though Jarro had a feeling there was another reason why he was chosen. But since he was unable to probe into Darius's mind, he could only guess at what that reason may be. OOC: I'll try to continue this tomorrow. Edited by Soul, Nov 15 2010, 08:59 PM.

OOC: Geez, this was tough to write but at least its finished. Just one more to go then I can start on the RPs leading straight into the event. Anywho, continuing from the last RP... Jarro entered Darius's study, where he normally spends all his time, and found him sitting at his desk looking at some kind of paper, oblivious to the fact that Jarro is standing at his door. Jarro cleared his throat to get his attention, which he did as Darius looked up over the paper he was reading a moment ago, and his expression immediately changed when he saw who was there, "Ah! Jarro! Pleasure to see you again." Jarro remained expressionless, "The pleasure is all mine. I need to ask you something." With those words, Jarro drew out his sword and handed it over to Darius, who had gotten out of his chair and approached him. "During a previous battle, I experience an anomaly, some kind of dark energy suddenly pulsated from the blade and then I was able to fire some kind of dark blob, for lack of a better term. This despite not having any source on me that I am aware of." Darius didn't appear like he was listening however. Was something else on his mind? It was definitely odd, even after he showed a sign that he was listening by replying, "I see. How strange. Perhaps..." He looked really deep in thought and didn't say much at all, which was definitely out of his character. Yet all Jarro could do was raise an eyebrow. He didn't say anything, but he felt something was definitely going on. After a while, Darius broke the silence, "I'm not sure, while the sword is calibrated to pick up traces of any kind of magic, it takes a relatively powerful source for the sword to adsorb the magic yet it still should not have..." Darius shook his head while returning the sword to Jarro, "I'll have to contemplate this matter deeply Jarro. Return in the morning." And with those spoken words, Jarro simply nodded and left. But it was very obvious something was terribly wrong here. |

After the last couple of days and the extensive amount of physical exertion involved in them, Tookie was only too grateful to be directed to a room with a bed. Of course, you aren't going to let me get any bloody sleep, are you? Do you really need sleep, you little gnat? If I want to have the energy to get into all these fights you seem to think it would be beneficial for me to get into? Yes, yes I do. Now shut up, or if you must keep me awake with your shouting at least shout at that Lucialde fellow so I might get something useful from it, okay? With that, Tookie collapsed on the bed, forcing himself to get to sleep before the voice started talking to him again. --- OOC: Stupid lack of inspiration. >_< |

NROOC: Me: I should RP too, to help guilt the others into doing so. Unfortunately I can't do much. Maybe I can use Zibia. Zibia returns to the room that she and her sister are renting. She lights a candle to combat the darkening sky, then sits at the table. Humming to herself, she removes a book and a quill from from her satchel, placing it before her on the table. The book is large and bound with plain, unadorned leather. After putting the bag down on the floor, she turns her attention to the book, opening it and flipping through the pages until she reaches a blank one, then dips her quill in the ink that had already been at the table and begins to write. "GULLIVER curse: 16 (R-yr 78) cripple: 1 arm, 1 eye strong, slow scary" Zibia purses her lips, looking over her notes, then nods and flips back to a much earlier page titled "JAEL" and adds a note about her sister's plan. She rolls her eyes, then turns to a page titled "XEQ" and reads it over. "XEQ golem killer (Herbert?) made R-yr 74, exp R-yr 79 w/o refresh guard (R-yr 75-77) archer ONLY: Ravah order clothes: dark, layers Now Zibia stands up and walks to the tiny window, peering out. The sun has set and the sky is dark, but there are various sources of light around the town. It is too late for Jael to come back. NROOC: Me: Look, exposition! And in case you're wondering, "R-yr" is based on Ravah's age. I don't really like making their community seem that cultish, but it gives me a way to list dates without contradicting anything you guys might be thinking about the timeframe of CKahMB. Hopefully I'm not contradicting any dates I've given myself. |

OOC: Wow, this is more than a month overdue. Sorry, guys. BIC: Melanie nodded and began rifling through the stacks of papers stored on top of and underneath her desk. After a few minutes of searching she had accumulated a sizable stack, which she set down on the nearby table. She then began to read off the information to the nobleman. "Bern is running three operations at the moment: retrieval, recruitment, and diplomacy," Melanie began. "In order to facilitate these endeavors, a network of guilds such as this one were set up across Etruria. We have operatives active in Calat, Sydelle, Reglay, Augustria, here in Karaisali, and three different locations along the Western Isles. "In addition to these," she continued, "a large group of Bern's wyvern riders have been set to deploy within the country for the retrieval and diplomacy missions. They should have arrived by now, but I've been locked up in a shack for a while so I don't really know." Melanie said the last sentence through clenched teeth. She took a deep breath before moving on in her speech. "I have no clue what is going on with the diplomacy mission, other than that there are supposed to be some negotiations between Bern's military and Etruria's nobility. I can't give any other information than that, unfortunately; I'm technically just a grunt. I can offer some insight concerning the other operations, however. "The recruitment operation's main goal is to raise a coalition of able-bodied fighters not currently employed by the Etruria government. Their purpose is to augment the country's standing army while simultaneously being capable of functioning independent of them; in other words, they can do the army's dirty work to keep their name clean. This also has the added benefit of stimulating the country's economy; after all, these mercenaries are in constant need of food, inns, and weaponry, to say nothing of their recreational habits. "The retrieval operation is where the wyvern riders come in. My details on this one are still a bit fuzzy, but the guild managers are essentially a network of spies that report to a squad of soldiers. While recruiting mercenaries, we were instructed to keep an eye out for a man in his late twenties carrying anything out of the ordinary. We were told that he was a former soldier and would therefore be highly dangerous; hence the wyvern riders." Melanie paused for a moment to let everything sink in before going on. "It was assumed that he would be under disguise, so the description was a little vague. However, Clark Kallen matches it fairly well. He began his mercenary work around the period of time that we were sent out, his dispatch results are what you'd expect from an ex-soldier, and he had a strange glowing cube with him. As I said before, I cannot confirm specifics, but I believe he is being pursued by the soldiers for cube he carries with him." Melanie sighed and slumped down into a chair next to the table while catching her breath. "That's a fairly good summary of the data concerning all plans for the immediate future...at least, for the ones that I'm privy to. If you need information on how many soldiers they've got, what the status of the recruitment operation is at the moment, or dossiers for most of their officers, I've got those too. Feel free to ask." With that, Melanie crossed her arms and stared expectantly at the nobleman. With any luck, she'd find herself in a far better situation with him than with the Bern soldiers. "Hold on a second," Ocelot interjected. "How do we know you're not lying about any of this?" Melanie gestured to the stack of papers on the table. "It's all in there. Feel free to peruse it at your leisure, if you really want to verify the things I've told you. I think you'll find it takes a significantly longer time than just hearing what I have to say." OOC: Yeah, it's a fairly long post, but this should provide some insight on some of the things I have planned in the future on both routes. Ask anything you want, or don't ask at all; it's up to you. |

OOC: Right, I think it's about time I moved on with this Also wall of text. Even if you want to skip reading this (Highly recommended you at least read the last paragraph) at least read the OOC at the bottom so you know what's going on. JARRO After a quick trip to the stables where Jarro had to make a few arrangements for the future, he finally made his way to the fountain where he would meet with Clark before meeting with Therrien again. He took a quick look at the stone base of the fountain, noting the intricate design the indentations made along each stone slab almost like a chess board. It was a simple design meant to merely complement the fountain. However, the design itself hid a very sneaky secret as well that Jarro was soon to take advantage of. Jarro found Clark resting underneath a tree nearby. Night had already fallen but the torches ablaze around the fountain illuminated the area so it was much easier to see, and it would normally remain that way up until around midnight. Jarro imagined their business would be done far sooner than that as it was at least a couple hours before then, and Jarro probably figured the meeting would take an hour at best. (OOC: btw, I just realized I don't even know what season we're in <_>;) Jarro called out to Clark as he quickly made his way over to him. As Clark was getting up, Jarro checked to make sure no one was nearby that could be spying. He didn't really notice anything out of the ordinary but he still needed to be sure. He also needs to play it safe. He began speaking, "I appreciate you coming along here. I hope you're up for a little walking," He looked around quickly one last time and satisfied he didn't notice anything, he continued, pointing to a spot nearby the fountain, "Wait there, keep an eye out, let me know if you see anything out of the ordinary." Clark nodded in response as Jarro made his way to the torch nearest him. One last time he looked around to make sure no one was watching and once more satisfied, he took the torch and dipped it into the fountain to put out the light, then returned the stand to its proper place. He continued working around the fountain, keeping an eye out as continued putting out the torches. Eventually, he made his way all around the fountain and reached the last torch beside the spot Clark was standing and put it out, shrouding the area in darkness, aside from the dim light provided by the night sky. With the last light put out, Jarro began searching the ground nearby until he found a slight indentation in the stone. He pressed three fingers down on it and immediately, one of the stone slabs near where they stood seemed to shift downwards. Jarro drew his sword and slipped it between the crack the sunken stone revealed and like a lever, began to force his sword towards him until the section moved enough for Jarro to be able to slip his hands into the crack. With one hand on the lowered section and the other opposite to it, he almost effortlessly managed to move the slab wide enough for the men to slip through. Jarro got up and turned to Clark, who had been watching the whole time and said to him, "Seems to be easier to move once you move it a little bit. Not really sure why. Let's move in." Jarro immediately slipped in through the hole slowly and landed on his feet a short distance. Clark took longer to move in, obviously unsure of what to expect going in and proceeding more cautiously. Jarro took the time to his advantage by pulling out a makeshift torch he brought along and placed it on the ground. He then pulled out his sword and threw a quick fire spell at it, causing it to light on fire. At this point Clark was safely on the ground so Jarro proceeded to slide the slab back into its original location making a fair bit of noise as he pushed it back into its proper place. On the outside, the section would appear as a normal slab which, along with the opening mechanism, caused very few to know the secret behind it. If only it was less in the open. Jarro grabbed the torch and turned to Clark to quickly explain why they're here and where they're going, "Okay, here's the deal. The Duke wants to speak to us in private. I don't know why, but I'm sure it's important if he wants to see us alone." He took a deep sigh, "Follow me." Jarro navigated his way almost effortlessly through the secret passage that also served as a source of running water that eventually led its way to the sea. To be fair, the way there was rather simple, left passage, right passage over and over until there. Jarro figured it was because getting here was the hard part and very few would guess the correct path even if they knew there was a way to reach the Duke from here, assuming they knew you could even get here. It didn't matter much to Jarro either way. They eventually reached their destination as Jarro left his torch on a stand near what seemed to be a deadend. Jarro searched the wall until he found a loose stone and he then pushed it into the wall. As soon as he did, a section of the wall beside him shifted towards the ground, revealing a secret passage. Jarro took the torch and walked in, revealing what looked to be a long flight of stairs. Jarro sighed as he waited for Clark to pass through before resetting the door behind them while saying, "Almost there. Just need to climb these." It was tiring though, as Jarro almost wished he refused the Duke's request, but knew full well he could never. Hopefully he could just rest after this. It took a while, and more than once Jarro paused for a few second for a break but they finally reached the about halfway. Jarro immediately set the torch he was holding onto a nearby stand and then approached a section on the wall and drew his sword. He tapped the wall three times with the butt of his sword and then waited a few moments before the wall slide down, just like the last one. Jarro quickly walked inside into a candle lit room with Duke Therrien in the middle, arms wide open as if he wanted to give a hug, "Glad you could make it. Come, have a seat." He gestured towards a table at the end of the room. Jarro happily obliged, his feet just about killing him. Clark shortly joined him, probably feeling the similar. Therrien quickly reset the passage they just came through as if nothing happened and then quickly went to a cabinet and produced some glasses along with a bottle of fine wine. He left a glass at each seat and began pouring as he spoke, "Honestly, I'm truly glad you both could make it. I really am." He took a seat as he finished pouring, leaving the half-filled bottle on the table between the three. Therrien had already started to drink from his glass while Jarro had yet to touch his. He wasn't really in the mood for anything but he eventually took a sip, so as to not cause any commotion. Therrien continued speaking, "Now, I'll try to be as brief as possible. I have a favour to ask of you." Jarro quickly responded, "What sort of favour?" Therrien gave a brief chuckle as he answered, "Yes, well, you see. Recently I have come to suspect one of my advisers may be plotting against me." Jarro's expression showed one of shock very quickly as he listened, "Who?" Therrien gave a quick sigh before answering yet again, "I'm sorry, but until I have your full support on this, I believe it would be safer to not mention his or her name. Now, I'm aware of the fact that you won't remain in Augustria for very long Clark, but the sort of favour I ask can be accomplished within the morning tomorrow. I'm perfectly willing to compensate you for your efforts." Jarro quickly interrupted, "I don't mean to be rude, your Grace, but wouldn't one of the others be more appropriate for this?" Therrien quickly responded, "I'm afraid not Jarro. Aside from yourself, honestly, I don't know who I can trust anymore and I can't risk word of this leaking out until I'm sure. Otherwise we could have a very dangerous situation on our hands, and that's the last thing we need right now." Jarro gave a quizzical look in response. Therrien continued, "Now then, what I need you to do is to sneak into this individual's main chambers while I keep said individual occupied and search it for anything indicating that this individual is in fact against me and immediately report it to me when you get the chance. That's it. It should be quick easy honestly, but again, you're the only ones I can ask this. Do I have your support?" Jarro quickly answered, "Of course, your Grace. You know you can always count on me." Clark gave a similar answer. Therrien smiled, "Good, good. Now, as for the individual in question-", Therrien was quickly cut off. The bottle of wine on the table shattered and a strong gust suddenly blew into the room as it put out all the candles. Before any of the men could react, a strong blast of energy erupted between them, scattering the men across the room while sending debris from the exploded table in every direction. Seemingly at the exact same moment, loud booming noises could be heard in the distance. What followed was a mad cackle from the last voice Jarro wanted to hear from: Darius. OOC: Dun dun dun! Anyway, sorry for kinda RPing for Clark abit Seth but I held this up way too long and decided, to hell with it, let's finally get this on. I hope you don't mind <.<;; Anyway, yeah, in case you're wondering what's going on for the rest of you, there have been two explosions at the back of the castle and there should now be some guy waking each of you telling you that there have been some turncoats and that they need help to get rid of them. Being the model citizens you are, you happily oblige. Or not. You can honestly ignore him, but then you won't be able to get in on the event! (Although I'm sure XEQ would happily take the chance to kill stuff anyway, model citizen or not.) I would've included this in the RP but its really late and this took forever X.x Speaking of which, said event should be up tomorrow. Along with the RP I should have included and more crazy stuff. You should be directed to the main hall of the castle so if you want to RP going in there, that's fine. If you want to wait for the event topic and RP to show up, that's fine too. NROOC: Me: I figure the seasons in Elibe probably aren't very dramatic, except maybe in Ilia. I don't recall any mention of seasons in FE7, but I haven't played FE6, so I don't know. XEQ feels the stones of the floor vibrate at the same time as it hears bangs and booms. This being none of its business, it remains motionless. It may be only fireworks, after all. Hurried footsteps begin echoing through the hall, and soon a man in what appears to be castle guard armor enters XEQ's room. Trying to hide the fact that he is out of breath, he starts to speak. "There's been... an incident. Explosions. Traitors and... we don't have enough men to... deal with them. You're armed. We need your help. Report to the main hall." The guard then turns to get to the main hall himself, but is stopped by an arrow through his neck. Another soon follows and he collapses, really struggling to breathe now. The last thing he sees is the dark-clothed archer marching silently past him. XEQ, now down a couple of arrows, makes its way to the main hall, soon joined by others. |

BOOOOM What. Tookie was not amused by this rude awakening, though in days to come he might give it some credit for not being that bloody voice. Maybe. Explosions were probably worse. BOOOOM "Oh, for fu--" Then the door flew open, and a rather flustered looking man barreled in. "--sake." "Excuse me, sir--" "You wanted to alert me to an invasion, yes?" Tookie snapped at the guard. "Two loud bangs beat you to it, now where the bloody hell are they?!" "M-main hall, sir!" Not saying another word, Tookie made his way down to the meeting point, gripping a sword, altogether looking like the last person in the world fit for defending a castle. Bastards ruined a good night's sleep. I think I'll ruin them a little bit. YES, FEEL THE FURY! LET IT LOOSE ON YOUR ENEMIES! ... I can't flippin' win with you, can I? Tookie very quickly caught up with Griez and Lachelle, but from what he could see they were three of the slower ones; Myke and his little group had got there just a bit ahead of them, and Van seemed to have been one of the first to arrive. --- OOC: bleh, have a something |

SICK Ah, finally, a nice bed to sleep in. Maybe now I can get a good night's sleep in a comfy, warm place, then have a nice, hot breakfast, and then- BOOM ... motherfucker. Sick jumped out of bed, still sharp as ever, though quite a bit more displeased than usual. By the time somebody came pounding on his door to wake him up, he was already in full armor with his scythe out, and he swung the door open, glowering at the man who stood in front of him. The temperature noticeably rose several degrees, and the unfortunate guard who'd been tasked with waking Sick suddenly had very... moist pants. "... Where?" Sick demanded in an extremely unhappy voice of the terrified looking man in front of him. "M-m-main hall..." the guard stuttered, worried the visibly angry giant in front of him would decapitate him at anything less than a prompt answer. Sick stormed down the hall, shoving the terrified guard out of the way. OOC: Yeah, Sick is not the kind of guy you want the misfortune of waking up. <_< Edited by Zap, Jan 6 2011, 11:43 PM.
