I was just reading an interview with JKR on Mugglenet and JKR said

Have any of the Hogwarts professors had spouses?
Good question-- yes, a few of them, but that information is sort of restricted-- you'll find out why.

Have we found out? I wonder if any of them will be in the last book

LOL. She also said this:

Professor Bicycle will be a key figure in books six and seven.

She said the Professor Bicycle thing was a joke.

I don't think the spouce thing is though, she would tell us if it was a joke.

It is possible that some of the teachers have spouses, but what do they do during the school year? They wouldn't get to see each other at all. Well, I'm still wondering why the students don't miss their parents. At such a young age as 11, children are still quite attached to their parents. Then again, being a wizard and learning magic is enough to make you forget about anything! Has anyone else wondered this?

Well they get to see their parents at holidays, if they want and they can always be in contact with them threw owls.

Any ideas on why spouses information might be important?

Maybe it's something about Snape. But then again who would want to marry him?

Hey now! I would want to marry Snape...I'm joking, of course...but about the children thingy, I would love to get away from home for that long!!! but that's just me, and I don't think we have found out the spouse thing either. It never even said which teachers were married! Let me see...Trelawney can't be married because she's too wierd that no one would marry her, and Dumbledore wouldn't let her leave because she would be on the streets which must mean she has no home except Hogwarts, like you guys said, who would want to marry Snape?! Slughorn can't be married. He's been on the move for a year and he mentioned all those other people he missed, he would have mentioned a wife. McGonaggal surely isn't married. I think her and Dumby may have had a secret relationship no one knows about ;) . Flitwick isn't the type to be married! :P he's so tiny! :P ! Lockhart wouldn't have been married, it definatly would have said so. We know Remmy isn't married, but hopefully he will pop the question on Tonks ;) Quirrel is dead and no one cares about him, and I doubt he was married. hmmm... Sprout...not sure about her. She could be. Hagrid isn't lolz. what's that Sinestra lady. We don't know much of her, so who knows. Proffesor Binns is a ghost, I doubt he's married. Who'm I missing?

You never know though some of the ones you least expect could have them. I doubt we will find out about them because how will they tie in with book 7 unless they have been killed by DE's, are DE's or are going to help HP.

I agree with you, i'd love to get away for most of the year

true, but I highly doubt it. She may have just forgotten about the spouses. She could have been planning on writing them in there, but forgot to.

Yeah, me and my sister were talking about if the teachers had spouses. If they did, then it's pretty much pointless, since some of the teachers stay at Hogwarts during the holidays... And about the children thing, yeah they could miss their parents, yet, the muggleborns could be so excited to learn magic they wouldn't concentrate on their parents.

yeah the muggleborns would, and the pure bloods and half-bloods will have been prepared.

i went to boarding school when i was 11 and only saw my parents at the odd weekend and holidays (apart the past year when i was a weekly boarder so come home every weekend). it's not that hard being away, and you get used to it. some of my friends don't get to see their parents all year and they managed fine as well.
