Quidditch Teacher

"Good lord... why am I back here?" The cold, quiet voice pierced the empty air as he gazed around the Quidditch practice field. A tall man, dressed in dark blue and black, stood alone in the centre, allowing the cold, November wind to disturb his clothing as his piercing blue eyes moved from left to right, examining every movement he saw. Stephen Natson. Spiked, blue hair lay upon his head, appearing natural rather than dyed or transformed, matching the colour of his eyes. His skin was pale, a complete contrast to the sharpness of his hair. The man was not known for being friendly, in either appearance or personality. This was not his first time at Hogwarts, hence his first statement. He had been a professor there before, several years ago, teaching Defence Against the Dark Arts. But now, he had returned, teaching the wizarding sport of Quidditch. He had always been gifted at the sport, having been Quidditch Captain for Slytherin when he had been at the school, quite a few years ago. To many, Stephen wouldn't seem the teaching type, but he had always enjoyed being a teacher, especially at such a respected school of this. And not only this, but he was back as Slytherin Head of House, a position he was truly proud of. The man sighed, gazing up at the tall towers of the castle, before giving a lazy flick of his wand, a pile of broomsticks and a crate appearing on the ground by his feet. He gave the old, tatty broomsticks a pitiful look, knowing that just with a wave of his wand, he could make them look as good as new. But, that was something he wouldn't do. What better way to encourage students to buy their own decent brooms than to force them to suffer riding the tatty school brooms? And also, should he need to give a student detention... perfect job... with hands, not wand. He folded his arms with a sigh, clearly bored of waiting. For his own amusement mostly, he waved his wand at the brooms again, and they rose up into the air, outlines of people appearing to be riding them. He flicked his wand again, and fake outlines of the quaffle, snitch and bludgers appeared in the air too. With a final, third flick of his wrist, the fake players and balls came to life, and a fully simulated Quidditch game was now on display in mid-air. '...I really ought to make this a teaching technique.' He thought to himself, concentrating on the display as he watched his recreation of Slytherin vs. Gryffindor... Of course, Slytherin were absolutely destroying the Gryffindors, a vision he certainly enjoyed. |

After deciding to sign up for class, and deciding that she should actually go, Bree had gotten up that day with a new mind set of going to first class of the year. She was actually going to go to all of her classes and actually do the work, and actually be nice to her teachers. She was going to be a good student. She wanted to be proud of what she did in her last year at Hogwarts. Bree Slowly walked out to the quidditch, practice field. She had time, why? Because for the first time ever she showed up early to a class. Partly because the Head Of Slytherin was the teachers, and she wanted to show her respect to the head of her house, but she was mainly here because she just loved quidditch so much. She use to be co-captain, and the seeker for the slytherin team. Oh how she misses those wonderful days. She still remembers her first game, and the first time the team won. Those memories feel like light years away now. Smiling at the thought of catching her first snitch, and remember how right it just felt being part of the team. Not wanting to waste anymore time, Bree picked up her speed, and rounded the corner into class. Noticing that Professor Natson was already there, Bree smiled and gave a slight nod to her Professor. She walked towards him and just stopped short of being in front of him. "Hello Professor.....I am Bree Black." Bree said in a strong voice, which is odd because Bree usually speaks in a soft voice. ((gah this sucks, Sorry! I just wanted Bree to get to class...)) |

Posted Image now, hey-yo, do ya like it like that i'm the only one who can love ya like that If there was any one professor who Ian loved, yet- at the same time- fought with, it was Stephen Natson. Ian could fondly remember his first class with the man. Quidditch. It was a fun class. But it also took patience. And Ian Samuel Shanks was blessed with no patience at all. Making his way on to the quidditch field, Ian gave a grin that only Natson- and his own family- could detect. This grin was one of suspicion, one of cheer, and... one of love/hate. Again, he and Natson had that kind of bond- it was a love/hate relationship. Natson! Ian hollered across the way, broom in one hand, and a thumbs up- with the other- in the air. It had been too long since he had last seen him- actually, not really. He saw him a couple weeks back- but still. His smile dropped a bit when he saw another familiar face- Bree Black. Slytherin. A girl who could be as feisty and sharp as he could. A girl who knew what she wanted, when. A girl who... still to this day- he could call beautiful. But, still- she was his competition. She was just like him, but- of course- she was a girl. Once he got closer, he nodded to her, Bree. Then looking back to Natson, his smile grew again, Let's... not... fight this year. Or- haha, not as much. CLOTHES this PLACE Quidditch WITH Quidditch Mates NOTES N/A |

beep.....beep...beep....BEEP BEEP BEEP.... Cali rolled to the other side of her bed to get away from her annoying alarm, to let her know that it is time to get up. All of her other dorm mates had left already to go down to breakfast and then head to class. Cali snuggled more into her bed, trying to get comfortable before going back to sleep. She wanted enough sleep in her, so she can stay awake during her classes. CLASSES! CRAP! Cali jumped out of bed and looked at the time. Why didn't I wake up sooner? I mean my bloody alarm has been going off for like an hour..... Cali thought to herself as she around her room, picking up clothes from her dresser and from the floor, trying to find something suitable to wear to class. While trying to get dress and put her make up on at the same time. Once finished with being dressed and having her make-up and done brushing her teeth, Cali grabs her bag for the day, along with her broom, then she races out the door and down the flight of stairs. Once past the great doors and outside Cali slows down, trying to remember where she was suppose to go for quidditch. Remembering that she should go straight out and the make her first left, walk past the gamekeepers hut, and keep going till she sees the Quidditch Pitch, and to the left of that is where the practice field should be and where she should go for classes. Picking up her pace now that she knows where she is going, so Cali doesn't become late. Arriving at the entrance of the field Cali stops. What I am not good enough to be here? I mean this school is so different from where I came from. What if everyone in the class hates me? What if.....If I keep standing out here all day I will always wonder what if. So Cali girl, suck it up and walk right into that class. You belong here just like the rest of the students. You can do this! Cali thought to herself. Taking one last deep breath, Cali walked into the field. She saw two other student before her, a boy and a girl, and the teacher. Not really sure what to do, Cali just hung around in the back waiting for the Professor to speak. |

Stephen didn't flinch as one of the fake bludgers zoomed right past his eyes, simply turning his head to follow it as it zoomed towards the Slytherin seeker, who skillfully darted above it. The piercing, blue eyes then switched to following the Gryffindor chaser as she aimed the quaffle at the hoops, scoring a goal. Natson's eyes narrowed. He disliked it when his own magic betrayed him... The sound of footsteps drew him away from the 'virtual' game, and to the girl that was approaching. His eyes then lowered to what she wore, spotting the Slytherin badge on the uniform. His lips turned to a smirk, as he then raised his eyes again to examine her face, trying to read the girl. He recognised her from when he was last at the school, though he had never actually taught her. "Ah... Miss Black." He spoke loudly in his deep, rather creepy, voice. He returned his attention to the Quidditch game briefly as Slytherin scored another goal, before looking for any sign of the girl having a broom, "I take it... as you do not carry it, that you don't have a broom? A pity. For if Slytherin are to win the Quidditch Cup this season, it would be beneficial for a seventh year who takes the class to play for the team... with their own broom." ((did that make any sense? xD I'm dead tired.)) He paused, shrugging slightly, "But I'm sure a seventh year must know a few charms to at least make the school brooms... rideable. Welcome to Quidditch, at any rate. Two points to Slytherin for being first to class." He hesitated again, before saying, "Tell me... how gifted are you at magic? As you can see, I have a Quidditch game going on above my head. Now... show me if you can make that chaser... that girl there on the left, score against Gryffindor." He pointed up with this wand, and the fake girl on a broom stopped, looking down at Bree and waving, now staying still, awaiting Bree's command. He then indicated to the Gryffindor keeper, who guarded the hoops. The entire game was at a standstill until Bree acted. The sound of more footsteps soon reached the man's ears, and a very familiar voice rang through the air. His eyes closed briefly, a smirk returning onto his face. Without turning around, he spoke loudly, "Mr. Samuel Shanks... it's been too long." He then turned himself to look at the boy, immediately noticing the difference in appearance to when he first taught the boy, "But something tells me, that the three years it has been has made no impact on... your infuriating lack of discipline... and insistence on ruining my lessons. Would that be correct?" The smirk remained on his face, but it was one of amusement, not cruelty. "You are a fourth year now, correct?" Stephen asked as the boy approached, and then gesturing to the Quidditch game, "Then have a go at controlling that Gryffindor chaser with intercepting the quaffle from Bree. And if you don't know how to do that, say your moves aloud, and I will do the rest. Just until the others get here, I want to see your mental strategies." At Ian's final comment, Stephen gave a lazy shrug, "Hm. Will have to think about that. Depends on your... attitude towards the lesson, I believe." Finally, one more pair of footsteps rang through the grounds, and Natson's expression was not quite so positive as he turned to face the approaching girl. The yellow logo on her clothes said it all... A Hufflepuff. Stephen had no respect for the house, which was a common trait in a lot of Slytherins. "Hmm... not going to introduce yourself, then? Or do you perhaps assume I am psychic?" He frowned, examining the girl's face. She seemed... nervous. Stephen smirked, "Perhaps... girl, you should have chosen a less... intense lesson than Quidditch. Nerves have no place upon a broomstick, for it may well spell your death high up in the air. Maybe you should find a more suitable class for such a feeling... say, Muggle Studies?" Edited by Stephen Natson, Nov 28 2010, 04:47 PM.

Bree snickered as her Professor's comment. Just because she didn't carry her broom with her doesn't mean she wont have her own broom, and she most certainly won't be using a school broom. "Why Professor I am surprise, to say the least, that you do not have more faith in a common Slytherin. Just because you do not see my broom in my hand does not mean I won't have my own broom for class. If you remember right, I am a witch and I do know a spell or two, that would allow me to have my own broom fly to me...Bree said with her trademark smirk. Bree extend her right arm, and while doing so her wand slid out from under her sleeve. Gripping her wand tightly in her hand, she got ready to cast a spell. "Accio BroomStick."Bree said nice and loud and clear while waving her wand to complete the spell. ((Sorry I don't remember the name of the brooms right now and I would look it up if my books where near me, but seeing as how they are across town I cant :/)) A minute or two later her broom comes flying from the direction on the castle. Her broom came to a stop besides her waiting for her to use it. She grab a hold of her broom and just looked at the Professor. "Oh and Professor, don't worry about us and the Quidditch Cup...." Was all Bree said. She listen to what her Professor said and what he was asking of her to do. "I am assuming that I have free range in whatever spells I can and cannot use. And if I am wrong then oh well." Bree said what shrugging her shoulders. She gripped her wand tightly again and went through all the spells she knows in her head. Finally she decide it would be best to give herself the upper hand in this, not that she needed it, but it is always better to be on top from the start. "Caecus."Bree said while pointing her wand at the Chaser Ian was suppose to be in control over, she temporary blinded the chaser. "Sorry Ian, but I wanna win." Bree said. "Mobilicorpus." Bree said as she pointed her wand at her chaser. She now had control over her chaser's body. Bree moved her chaser around the pitch and getting the ball and then have her go right for the Gryffindor keeper. ((I am hoping we are going to do this the usual way where we have to answer questions....)) |

Cali looked at the Professor when he started to talk to her, not liking one thing that came out of his mouth. The more he spoke, the angrier Cali got, but not wanting to get her House in trouble she kept her mouth shut, till he suggested that she should be in muggle studies and not quidditch. "Excuse me?! Just exactly who do you think you are? Last I checked your a teacher, but your acting more like a student. What just because I am in Hufflepuff, and I don't introduce myself to you, automatically makes it okay for you to judge me, and how I act? I don't think so. You really want my name, then check you student list. I don't have to introduce myself to you or anyone here. I have every right to be here. If you want only certain people in your class, then take that up with the Headmaster, but don't take your problems and crap out in me, or other students! Who freaking cares if I am nervous on the ground? I can be a totally different person in the air. So check yourself, before you wreck yourself." Cali said, finally cooling off. She didn't care if her house lost point or if she got kicked out of the class. Her teacher shouldn't treat her any different than he did with other student. And if she could she would raise all hell and heaven about it. She dared anyone to go up against her right. If they wanted to she wouldn't care because she would fight them every step of the way, she had been push to that point. ((sorry it sucks...I out all of my magic to Bree oh well)) |

Desiree woke up in her dormitory bedroom she reluctantly returned to the castle, and as it was the first day of classes she wanted to sleep in a bit. Waking up she sat up and looked at her watch her eyes as big as saucers as she saw what time it was, then she remembered what class it was and scrambled out of bed and fell to the floor of her dormitory. Getting up she quickly tore off her pajamas and rammed on a pair of worn jeans her sweater vest, shirt, and tie. Quickly lacing up her shoes she ran out of her dormitory with her robe and her broomstick. Running up the steps with one hand in her robe as the other hand not in her robe carrying her broomstick she tore into the Great Hall getting looks from fellow students as she grabbed a piece of toast stuffed into her mouth and tore off in the direction of the Quidditch pitch. Being the Hufflepuff Quidditch captain was not a good thing that she was so late and especially to a class she loved but loathed the teacher. Reaching the pitch as she chewed the last remaining bites of her toast she scrambled to get her arm through her other sleeve and panting very loudly. Sorry Im late Professor Natson, I didnt realize it was your class that was this morning. She was done for it and she knew it, she knew she was going to get points taken off for being late he ALWAYS would take points off for late students it was just the way he is. Regaining her breathing as she gripped her broomstick tightly in her grasp she looked around and noticed a Slytherin girl she thought she meet but wasnt sure, then of course was the Gryffindor boy she though she knew but couldnt remember his name. Finally spying her fellow housemate made her feel a little better and calmed down as she looked back at Professor Natson and watching the mini-Quidditch game going on above his head this would surely be an interesting lesson today. ((Sorry mine sucks to I like Bree wanted to get Des to class)) |

Posted Image now, hey-yo, do ya like it like that i'm the only one who can love ya like that Infuriating lack of discipline... you're a funny one, Natson. Giving him a wink, Ian gave attention to the instructions that he was given- try to block Bree. Shouldn't be too hard. Picking his broom from off of the ground, he mounted it and prepared to go up into the air-for kicks. Just as he pushed off, he heard the Hufflepuff girl FREAK on Natson. Deciding he would spare her shame, he quickly flew over to her and hovered next to her, putting his hands over her mouth. She didn't mean that. Any of it! Removing his hands, he looked at her and whispered, Chill... he is like that with everybody. You're just new... Preparing to go up again- again, just for kicks- and join Bree in the challenge of controlling the "virtual game", he called down to Natson, Any you thought I was bad... Winking to them both, he went higher up into the air and prepared to take Bree on. As she approached, his chaser suddenly lost sight of all around. Blast you, Bree! Shouting out random directions for the Gryffindor to go in, Ian gave up and lowered himself NO YOU DUMMY! THE LEFT! THE LEFT! This chaser was hopeless. I quit. Unblind me, dang it! For Natson's sake, he was trying to watch his language... this was a challenge, he couldn't see anything! Leaving his attention from the game, he spun around in the air on his broomstick for a while, then landed... He looked at the Gryffindor who had just arrived. You're a first year, Sapphire. You go defend.. The training will help. Jumping off of his broomstick, and placing it firmly on the ground, he looked up and saw that Desiree had arrived. They did not have the best of encounters before, but towards the end of the last year, they had gotten a bit better. Acting like there was never any tension between the two of them, he waved, Hey- Ian... Desiree, right? Knowing Natson probably wouldn't be fond of the chit-chat, he quieted down a bit. Stephen listened to Bree's words, a small smirk still on his cold face. He folded his arms, ignoring another bludger that seemed to currently have fascination with his blue hair... too bad it went straight through it whenever it tried to attack. He sent it flying back up in the air with an irritated flick of his wand, knocking a virtual Gryffindor beater flying off his broom. He returned to watching as a broomstick zoomed through the air, examining it curiously, "...Very good to come prepared. Another two points for Slytherin... for organisation, and a well performed 'Accio'." At her comment on the Quidditch Cup, he gave a simple shrug, "Slytherin were greatly under performing last time I was at this castle... I hope you will prove me wrong." At her response to his task, Stephen simply said, "Do whatever you wish... just remember that in a game of Quidditch, using your wand is not allowed... don't want to be disqualified. But go ahead, let's see how Mr. Samuel Shanks gets his way out of this one." He watched the girl perform, a blank expression on his face. Of course, it was a clever way of doing it... but it showed nothing of how she would use tactics in an actual game. "Right... now that you've removed the chaser threat, let's see how you actually play... fairly." Turning then to the Hufflepuff girl, he simply let out a laugh as he listened to her ramble, "Ahahahaha... Hufflepuffs... always react more than other houses. Relax, Miss Ashleigh.... but you have some bravery to explode on me like that, perhaps you may do well in this class after all." He laughed again, shaking his head as he redirected his attention to the sky. But before he could even concentrate on the game, he found his head turning to the left again as a familiar Hufflepuff approached. "Miss Morris!" Stephen exclaimed in fake delight, giving a just as fake smile, "How lovely to see you again... you didn't know my class was this morning? I see you show just as little organisation as you always have. I'm feeling... not quite so mean this morning, so I won't deduct any points." Of course, had Desiree been in Slytherin... Natson would have been a bit more forgiving. He returned his attention to the game. Yet again, footsteps interrupted him, and he turned to see the young Gryffindor girl approaching. He raised his eyebrows a bit, "Well, well... Miss Moon, welcome to Quidditch. I believe you are our only first year signed up for this class so far. I certainly hope that you can impress... just slightly." He shrugged a bit, deciding to not be harsh to her... yet. "And cheer up a bit, Quidditch is fun. And enthusiasm is good." "Ah, yes, I am well known for my talent with comedy." Natson remarked sarcastically as he glanced to Ian, but that smirk of amusement was still on his face, only to fade as he went over to the Hufflepuff girl. "I am able to tell myself whether she meant it, Mr. Samuel Shanks... But as you know, students with a less controllable mouth than others tend to... spice my lessons up a bit. I'm sure Miss Ashleigh will fit in very well here." He then watched as the boy took to the sky, frowning for a second at his choice of position. he paid attention to how Ian controlled the situation... not well. "Mr. Samuel Shanks... tut, tut, tut... Miss Black is playing dirty, in such a situation... play dirty yourself. A game of Quidditch playing fully to the game is dull. It's why I always hate watching Hufflepuff play Ravenclaw." As Ian approached Sapphire, Natson gave a nod, before waving his wand. The Slytherin players were replaced with fake Hufflepuffs, and he looked to Sapphire and Cristyna, "Looks like it's time for the two of you to prove just how good you are." He then looked to Desiree, "Miss Morris... I seem to remember you being good on a broom. But tell me, how good are you at tactical ability and charms? Take control of that Hufflepuff keeper. I know you don't play as keeper, but... never hurts to be different. Miss Ashleigh... you will be playing as Hufflepuff seeker. Miss Moon, for Gryffindor." He then looked to Ian with a frown as the boy dismounted, "I do not recall telling you to finish, Mr. Samuel Shanks. Your housemate needs your help. Take control of the Gryffindor Keeper. As for you, Miss Black... I will leave you to cause as much havoc as you want by controlling the bludger." He let them digest this instruction, before finishing with, "Call this a waste of time if you will... but until the full class arrives, why not get some tactical practice before physical?" |

The Gryffindor boy Desiree thought she knew but couldnt remember his name landed on the ground next to her. He said his name was Ian and asked if hers was Desiree, So thats what his name is. She smiled at him Yeah its Desiree, nice to see you again? She couldnt actually remember the last time she had met him but itd probably come back soon enough and hit her like a ton of bricks when it did. Desiree almost fell over as Professor Natson exclaimed her name like he was happy to see her, but it couldnt be could it? Desiree decided on it couldnt be! It was lovely to see her, Desiree tried not to snort from the laughter that she was holding back as she knew he didnt think it was lovely that she was here, he probably wouldve liked her maimed or worse. She was however grateful that he praised her on her organizational skills and that he didnt take points away from her, Bet that killed him not taking points away from me. Again she tried to hold her laughter from the funny thought she just had. A disagreement broke out between Natson, Ian, and another girl and she watched on not of intent but more of interest, and having gotten there late she had no idea what this disagreement was about and this made it all the more interesting for her. Ian and now she remembered the other girl as Bree came down to where she was and the other students and she tuned out Natson until he said he hated watching her house play Quidditch, this made her blood boil a bit but she calmed down and looked away. Her attention was abruptly brought back to the forefront as Natson began talking to her, yes she was good on a broom but her abilities were not the best. Not that great sir, Ive never been able to learn tactical ability and my charms work is not always the best. Shed try but it would probably be a disaster, then he said for her to play Keeper and she gulped as she knew this would be even more of a disaster. She climbed her broom and set off towards the goal posts. The fake players from the other team were coming at her with the Quaffle and she panicked and flew the wrong way as she let the ball in letting the other team score. Feeling ashamed of herself she repositioned herself back in front of the hoops and concentrated on the chaser from the other team as it came around again, focusing on the Quaffle it came right at her and she caught it. Smiling she threw it to one of her fake chasers and turned to the Beaters Hey you there hit the bludger towards the enemy chaser coming head on to our chaser. The beater knocked the opposing teams Chaser from getting the ball from her own chaser. Desiree noticed that one of her teammates was missing it was her Seeker looking down at her housemate she screamed Hey Hufflepuff girl get your butt up here and find that snitch. This however was a bad idea as a bludger came towards her and nearly knocked her off her broom and she flew to the ground holding a hand up to her bleeding forehead. ((Hey Ian I really cant remember when our character meet so if you know of a topic we did together or something let me know so I can read it and remember. Thanks)) Edited by Desiree Morris, Dec 9 2010, 01:16 PM.

"Broke her ankle falling down the stairs..." Stephen repeated, raising his eyebrows with a dry chuckle, "Haven't heard that one, before... of all the possible injuries you could get in Hogwarts... cursed, bitten, transformed, poisoned... she chooses to break her ankle. An absence is still an absence, Miss Moon, and unless I am notified by a member of authority, it will be dealt with consequently." At her next comment, he sighed a bit, commenting with little emotion, "Indeed, Miss Moon, for this task at least, you are. Now, would you hurry up and get in the sky, please?" Turning to Desiree at her response, he simply smiled, "Well, then... this should be rather entertaining to watch. Let's see the divine skill of Miss Desiree Morris." He announced the last sentence dramatically and sarcastically, before folding his arms as he watched the girl fly towards the goal-posts. He smirked with a slight laugh as he watched her let the quaffle in, but it soon faded when she caught a second shot. As she shouted down to Sapphire, Natson chuckled with amusement, before sighing as the girl was injured. Drawing his wand, he approached the girl, "Although to heal this fully would be a simple task, tis not my job. Head over to the hospital wing, I suggest." He looked to Sapphire, "Five points from Gryffindor for... standing around like a... lemon. Because of you, Miss Morris here was hurt." Turning back to Desiree, he pointed his wand at her head, "Allow me to clean it up a bit, though." He murmured something under his breath, and soon the blood pouring from her head began withdrawing back into the wound. "Now, off to the hospital wing with you, and I expect you to be on time to our next lesson." |
