OK, let me make it abundantly clear that I know that the competition on this server was NOT the caliber that is on FAS most of the time... however, there were some clan people on the server, notably [o3b] Glazer and some guys from a clan called -=Rr=-... bOvOm, BraveHeart, Shane, etc. (ah, and the DR. guys stopped by for a while, along with moderndog, IndianBoss, etc...) Now, with that said: Up to this point in my AA career, the best session I'd managed was: (Urban Assault) Frags - 46 KIA - 42 FR - 1.1 Last night on Insurgent Camp, Rogue made mention of the fact that a little tweak to his mouse settings really helped his accuracy. So, I decided to try the same thing: I went to control panel and turned off "mouse acceleration", "enhance pointer precision", and "snap to" for the mouse. The resulting session after I changed the settings was this: MAP: Urban Assault - [SUDO] Clan Server Frags - 97 KIA - 41 FR - 2.4 Score - 2392 ROE - 565 The link for my AAO tracker page to see the past "suckage": http://aaotracker.com/usertracker.php?userid=599342 Maybe it's just too late and I'm too tired, but I'm in shock right now. It seemed to make a HUGE difference. I just wanted to make doubly sure that you guys don't have any third-party "productivity boosters" that are getting you killed in AA game play! If I can keep this going, I might actually get that 1.0 FR! Thanks to you Rogue! I ALWAYS learn something new on the FAS server!

Wow, very cool! Nice set In my case, it was the Logitech SetPoint software and drivers. It has an option to monitor for a running game, and change the DPI if it sees one (my mouse allows me to change DPI on the fly to 3 programmable presets). I hadn't set it to change the DPI, but just having the option enabled gave me HORRID mouse performance, where actions in the game were lagging by at least a half second behind the mouse. Amazing how much of an effect these little things can have on playability. Hope to see you fragging me soon, sum_fat_guy! |

Simply put: Yes, I'm a Mac guy, but I'm playing on Windows for now. ![]() Due to a freak shipping accident, I did not receive my MacBook Pro in usable condition. So I have to play on a god-forsaken mini-pc (that has a fan so loud it sounds like I'm passing gas every time I talk on TS). However, I will still need to play it in Boot Camp (a.k.a. Windows) when my laptop finally does arrive.

Some settings cause mouse lag. I'd get up to 1 second between moving the mouse and the screen moving. So yeah, tweaking the mouse can help. MS even has an KB article on one of the settings causing just this problem. |

But am I right when I say that there are only certain mice that can be adjusted like this? I use a mighty mouse from Apple, and I can't find any of those options anywhere. |

Since I don't have my trusty G4 anymore (R.I.P.), I had to use a pc that was sitting around. It's not great spec-wise, and I have to run all settings at low to get playable frame rates... so I think anything that makes it simpler will be a plus, and improve my play. It will probably help more when I have a graphics card that can actually display shadows etc, too! ;-) |
