I was thinking the same thing. I have a measly pair of earbuds that seem to get the job done, but i'm thinking about buying a headset or atleast some nice headphones. Thoughts? Thx for bringin this up timid.

What's your price range first? MoR is headset capital we have tried them all at this point and sent them around the country for others to try.

I used some nice earbuds for a while and even though they have great sound quality, they are nothing compared to headphones for determining direction of enemy and hearing small details.

I use Sennheiser eH150 and they are DJ quality headphones but only $23.00 on amazon.com. I highly recommend these to anybody looking for some quality sound at low price. They do not have a mic though since i use my iSight as a mic.

Nope hate to break it to you but 150's are not "DJ" quality in the least. for an extra 30$ you can get quality that makes them look horrible. Most important thing to specify when you ask about headsets is how much your willing to spend. Once you know how much your willing to spend you know what kind of quality you can get. Earbuds or any headset under 60$ is not gonna be that great at all. Might be a step up from earbuds but no where near the holy grail of sound.

ok well they at least said it was dj quality..anyway I find them to be excellent and they're good enough for me. Once i get older i'll invest in some hardcore good headphones but these are great for now.

Understood. I'm just trying to point out if they have more to spend they can get much better quality.

Price isn't too big of an issue with me as long as it doesn't go over like $200. I have like 150 saved and since my b-day is coming in a month or so, i'll get mor money and get some nice quality headphones. Suggestions? Just put good quality stuff, I'll look at price when i get there. Right now i just wanna use good stuff  Thx

I'm not to worried about the price. I can justify the price because i use them for VOIP telephony.

But between 100 - 150 would be ok, however if a good cheaper set are avaliable....

I did a search on "masters of roe" but didn't come up with anything?

Perhaps you could POINT me/us in the right direction?

timid, since you are a new =Fas= member, you do not have access to the private forums for a 30 day probation. This is just for clan security to ensure we dont get people trying to join our clan and then immediatly leaving once they read our private info. I'll grant you access to the MoR section since i trust you.

I understand. NP

Let me know when thats arranged and i'll take a look. ;-)
----------------

BTW:- my experiences with "plantronics DSP 500" are:-

All round sound quality:
Excellent, deep bass, fine high quality hi note clarity.

In game sound quality:
very good. I can normally hear where E are shooting from. I can also mostly detect which direction E are sneaking up on me from. Sometimes it's not as clear as i would like, but if i look another direction then this somewhat helps to pin point E's position. General however. when i am ghosting a player i normally find that i can hear E before they do!

Microphone quality:
I presume very good You know how it sounds. I haven't had any complaints from you guys (yet) lol. The automatic voice recognition works brilliantly. Very sensitive.

I use a Zahlman 5.1 headphones, it uses 3 speakers on each side and are ok to use. But my friend uses a Kinyo 5.1 thats a lot better than the one I have, though I shouldn't complain since he gave me the Zahlmans after replacing it with the Kinyos. So easy to tell exactly where the opfor is firing or moving to, though I've only tried it on his pc so i dont know if it'll have the same crlarity on the mac*. I've also tried the cheap iRock usb 5.1 headphones, better than the Zahlman but Kinyo still sounds better.

*Anyone have any good tips in getting AA to sound better on a dual g5 with m-audio 7.1 card and 5.1 headphones? I use this at work when i play AA and it sounds muffled, doesnt seem like it's 3D and not any better than regular sereo heaadphones.

You have an m-audio 7.1 sound card at work? What do you do for a living? Studio work? I'm asking as a musician, not a fellow AA player :D

nah i'm just your typical photoshop monkey :lolhit: i'm glad i dont have do paths all day like i used to :D

that m-audio doesnt look any different than any sound card, is it special? the control pane on that is also a little buggy, caused a few kp when i was making minor adjustment to the sound.

Hey,

I'm gonna get stomped here for being a noob, but are 'you' guys using the 3D HW+EAX setting in your Audio settings on AA, I switched to this setting and it made a big difference.

I use Sennheiser HD 465's, they seem pretty good, though I think I'm gonna go all out soon and splash for some serious as shit ones.

Noto, don't think I can access that area, can you recommend some phones/models?

Cheers

Well, they make stuff geared more towards low-end or home studios, not really the consumer market.

I use a logitech USB headset, cost me about $40 and works really well. I'm on a powerbook which only accepts USB headsets, or self powered headsets, so this USB logitech is perfect for me.
