Here is the linky We went out and shot this in about 2 hours on a Saturday a couple of weeks ago. We had access to 2 AR15's which is the M16 Civillian equivalent. We hit a surpluss store on the way out into the desert and even had some advising from my buddy Ben who just finished processing and is home from 2 tours in Iraq as a tank driver. We are using this video along with a couple others to talk about the freedom that comes from sacrifice. Let me know what you guys think! EDIT: Sorry, You need QuickTime 7 to view...Will have a Windows Media version up later today. |

Back then 15 years ago when I was in the Austrian army, I fired 18 shots in total, 12 of which barely hit a static target, and 6 which proudly missed one slowly moving - from about 50 meters. When my squad learned to throw nades, I was in sick bay. When they learned to take out a tank with a bazooka, I was in sick bay. When they learned how to use the machine gun... you get the idea. Generally, my squad's job was to guard and maintain a mobile radar station. In other words: a bunch of spawn campers. Due to our utter irrelevance for actual combat, we were pretty much the last unit in the country still using the venerable Sturmgewehr 58. Because of my vast experience in the sick bay, I later spent most of the time wrestling with mechanical type writers. To sum it up: I know squat about how to be a soldier. ![]() One thing I do remember though is that to evacuate a buddy from the battle field, it's effective to crawl under him and slide along the ground. That way, you have a good chance to stay lower than enemy fire. And in case a low flying bullet hits, it will go into your already half dead buddy instead of you, a still fully functional soldier. Simplified Summary: evacuation video way: 0.5 dead + 0.0 dead -> hit -> 0.5 + 1.0 = 1.5 dead ![]() evacuation Spitney way: 0.5 dead + 0.0 dead -> hit -> 1.0 + 0.0 = 1.0 dead :) Nevertheless I like the visuals and music integration. Good lightning and nice change of mood. The close ups add a lot of tension.
I don't get the message. My personal favourite "freedom movie" is Fight Club. Especially check out the part where Tyler says "It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything." Alright, alright, I'll shut up already. Guess I'm not the target audience. ![]() |

It is a setup video for an over-arching story we are doing for Easter. I will also be doing a monologue another video and duologue to continue the story. |
