First off, Welcome to the Fullmetal Alchemist Forums!

If you are reading this, you are probably new to the forum and haven't posted yet, or you are waiting to be validated. If you are waiting to be validated, don't worry. Accounts are validated in 24 hours (usually only 1-4 hours). In the meantime, why not read the guide on learnign the basics of the forum?

First, before you post, you should read the rules so you know what you are not allowed to do.

(Most of the below information is for people who have never used a forum before.)

My Controls
While you are waiting (for those who have accounts still in validation), why not tell more about yourself by creating a profile? Click the My Controls link at the top of all pages. The My Controls page contains all of your personal settings, including personal messages, profile info, signature info, and avatar settings. (Learn more about My Controls and the settings). To start off, lets set up your profile info.

Profile Info
To start editing your profile, just click "Edit Profile Info". Here you can fill in your date of birth, messenger contacts, home page, location, and interests. Fill in any info you wish to give, then click Amend my profile. Remember that your e-mail address will not be shown to anyone if you're worried about privacy. There is also another option that isn't immediately available! When you reach 5 posts, a new box appears so you can set up a custom title! When you reach certain post levels, you will get squares by your name to represent your status. Here's how your title will change if you do not add a custom title.

Avatars and Signatures
Below the Profile Info link in My Controls is the Edit Signature option. A board 'signature' is very similar to an email signature. This signature is attached to the bottom of every message you post unless you choose to check the box that allows you to ommit the signature in the message you are posting. You may use BB Code.

Below that, there are Avatars. An avatar is a little image that appears under your username when you view a topic or post you authored. There are 3 ways to choose an avatar.

1. Preinstalled Avatars: You can browse the gallery to pick a default avatar. When you find one you want, press the circle below it and click Use Selected Avatar
2. Picture from another site. Enter the URL and click "Update Avatar". This is the reccommended method of selecting an avatar. You may upload avatars from your computer below. Copy and paste the URL in "Direct Link to Image" into the URL field in the forum.

3. Upload an avatar from your computer: Simply press browse, find the image file, press Open, and click update avatar. If possible, please use method #2 as this saves disk space on the forum as we have a 16MB limit on the things thaat we can upload to the forum.

You may also choose to remove your avatar by clicking the last option button, I don't wish to use an avatar (remove all current).

Personal Messages (PMs)
You can PM any user by clicking PM button (Posted Image) next to one of their posts. A personal message is like forum email, it travels instantly. The next time they log in they will see their new message. You can use this as an alternative to e-mail. To see if you have new messages, simply look at the top right of the screen; next to the My Controls link you will see a link that says x new messages. To write a new message, you can also click the link in your My Controls section that says Compose New Message. Note this feature is not available if you are still under validating.

Calendar
Calendar
Another feature of the board is the calendar, which will have all special events and birthdays posted on it regularly. To access the calendar, click the Calendar link in the top right corner of the screen, slightly below the My Assistant link. To view more information for an event, click its link. You can also post your own events by pressing the New Event button (Posted Image
