Here is something i have noticed in the online world, that is frankly...extreamly disturbing...

ok... people have some strange reason to bring up a disturbing fact that they personaly dont care about that causes uncomfortable situations that are akward and discusting to the other people around them...

and example i know about is... people sometimes say that someone they know died then they annonce it to other people...somekind on horrible thing that the tell other people so they may feel sorry for them or just so they feel uncomfortable...
here is a quote from what i mean on this site...

ok in a simple conversation about cars...
Quote:

awesome! just dont crash!(thats how my sis died, lol) and make sure not to make things go all explody...lol.

people bring up these things to cause a horrible uncomforable feeling or am i the only person who is disturbed by this?

Ehh its not that bad. I mean I always say I'm gonna kill someone or hit something when I'm about to drive. Because frankly, I have dreams about me hitting things like trees, mailboxes, bushes, animals and old ladies. They're like warning signs to me.

...
But then again, that's just me.
...
And yeah, I do suck at driving.
Don't touch me, I'm dangerous.

Would people really go, "Thats how my sister died, haha!" If that happened to me (doesn't have a sister) I wouldn't really be laughing about my sister dying... O__o

I don't feel the say that to discuss them as much as get things off thier chest. You see some people don't socialize good with people in real life or don't tell people certain things. So sometimes what they can't say in real life they say over the internet. Let me give you an example.(completly random ages and people).Let's say my older sister who is 29 was beat up by her 32 year old husband and i don't have the guts to tell some one in real life because i'm 13 and no one would believe me. Then i come on the internet to get some advice or finally get this revelation off my chest. And people encourage me to call the cops. The reason for me starting the topic was not to gross people out but was to finally be able to speak up on something that I havn't/can't say in real life. It was for my judgement to stop eating away in the back of my mind not to disgust people.

And when some one makes a joking comment it's usually to try and cheer some one up if at least for a split second, at least the pain wasn't there for a brief moment in time.

yes that is an example of what i mean, but you say it as if you were confessing about it, what i mean is saying were at a moment that had nothing to do with people dieing, but you still blurt it at a moment with nothing to do with dying,

heres and example of what i mean,

in a subject about accidents that resulted in death:
"my sister fell of our roof and cracked her head open and her brains leaked out"

APROPRIATE
because it was mainly about bad accidents that happend and the impact of what that person says is expected by the reader

in a subject about roofs <_< :
"my sister fell of our roof and cracked her head open and her brains leaked out"

UNAPROPRIATE
because this subject was about something as simple as roofs, their was nothing leading to this saying or prevoking it, but still someone said it and it causes a disturbing feeling to all of its readers...

Hmmm. I get what you are saying. But you know since you were talking about roofs, that's that persons memeory or feelings of roofs. More of a memeory or warning of a subject. Some people is really open like that (like me but sometimes not to that extint). They feel they need to elaborate on that matter of theirs. It's more a first respons more than anything i think.Like if we were talking about shoppng carts. Then you come out of nowhere and say "I was rolling on the back on a shopping cart once and crashed into a food rack.I suggest you don't do that". Even though the accident got you in trouble and was some what irrelevent to the story,it involved a shopping cart and one of your experiances with one.

yeah but the inapropriate thing about something like that i mean is like:
i saw a car backup into a shopping cart which hit someone and slauterd them right there...

that is the horrible crap i mean that someone just brings up and the people around them are sickend by it

well, ok its basically like dark said, its a way to slip it into the conversation and counter the sad emotions with a "ha ha" or " XD", its a way of pushing it away again..would you really want to sit their and think about how sad it was? or try to make yourself feel better with a haha, laughing at that moment in time, trying to convince yourself your over it and can move on?

Also others just naturally find it funny, Example: "Oh I fainted once and fractured my skull, lol" (this actually happend to me, XD ) its a laughable moment for that person, for one reason or another or also it could be because they hate it to death and are just trying to get over it.

if you witness somone getting slaughterd by a car and shopping cart, it would not be good on your mentality to keep silent and let that play in your mind over and over, you would seek help were you feel more secure in reality, because people on here get a false sence of safty, so they are more open to help.

ALso laughing can be used as a counter to not freak people out and bring the mood down I mean its a way of saying oh yes this happened but it doesnt really matter anymore what are some of your funny/morbid stories? ^^

Example : " Lol I'm such a f**k up I should probably just slit my wrists lol XD"
It's a way of getting your attention and also kind of a warning in a way you know? Like if someones sister fell off a roof and her brains spillled out then you wouldn't necessarily want to talk about that again would you?

Wait....what am I saying all I need to say is "You're in America it's freedom of speech, people live different lives and cope in different ways, deal with the situation or dont, they aren't making you read their problems..." Personally I like dealing with those people, I usually can relate and we get into a discussion of some very interesting things. Maybe just because I'm so interest in how the human mind works....anyways just think of it this way. Most girls who are raped never tell anyone or have the courage to go to the police, let's say you were raped right and it was eating at you every day pushing you further into depression...paranoia..or even mania. Now the easiest way to deal with this problem is to tell someone online away from you , who will just sit, and listen, and help. So what do you do, you say it in 3 different ways.

#1 the random blurted way : "I was raped"
#2 the leap of faith way : " Hey I have something to tell you...."
#3 the joking way to let it off your back and not directly ask for help from fear trauma and other emotions most asscoitated after such an incident, "hahah yeah well I got raped once lol but I know this sort of thing happens all the time hahaha lol ^^XD"

What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

Well, Ive been afraid of changing
cause Ive built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
Im getting older too

well i guess what I'm trying to say is some people have actually gone through stuff and usually you can filter out the bull**** but if you don't want to hear it ask politely if they would not discuss it ect. or just leave...

Not really that big of a problem

I beg to differ Ice_Phoenix. People that have went through hardships in life or loosing someone dare to them in a terrible way are capable of acting normal. It depends on how strong that person is. Some people can't handle pressure, loss of someone, bad things that happened in their past etc. While some people keep things on the inside and let them eat away at their subconcious other people choose to talk about things and try to get some sort of closure on things.

Then other people choose to punish themselfs either by alcohol, drugs, cutting, depression from blaming everything on themselfs, etc,etc.. Some people have a stronger will power for trying to get over things and they try to dispell their bad thoughts/memeries by trying to interact with people and talking about things..While some people believe that everything is their fault and choose to make their own little cacoon keeping everybody from getting close to them, or people trying to help them for one reason or another.

My point is that some people can endure f***ed up things that happened to them or around them and still remain as normal as possible.Whether it be from telling someone their problem, shaking off whatever happened to them and move on with their lifes,or by other means of trying to get over something. You just can't generalize everyone that went to something as people who are incapable of being normal.
