A quiet, misty morning... The birds are chirping, a slight breeze in the air, and the sun is on the horizon. The townspeople are just waking pleasently in the new day, and all is well... When 50 tons of pure titanium and iron mech suit army explode over the horizon line and completely annihilate the enemy's headquarters with rocketting metal slugs to pierce the tranquility with earshatterring explosions! YES! that, people, is what mech fighting is all about. This is ChromeHounds, for the XBox 360, and this game truely shows what the 360 is capable of. Posted Image Allright, let's dive into this review. We'll start with the backdrop and get it out of the way. ChromeHounds is set in a future after WW3, where new, fictional colonies and countries exist. Somehow, though, america is still there. ;0o... Anyway, countries like Sal Kar and Morkoij are constantly fighting with terrorists, insurgents, and other countries in their DoomRunners of Terror. Nice. Now onto gameplay. Your mech, or, as they call them--- HOUND, controls reasonably well. The left analog stick handels your hounds legs (or treads) and the right stick maneuvers the cock pit, where your weapons are attatched. There are several different types of mechs, so you'll have to get used to doing missions with Soldiers, Defenders, Snipers, and heavy artillery mechs. Getting used to them is ok, but the enemy AI is pretty smart, so you'll have to do alot of missions over until you get it right. But what? You don't want mindless run and gun? well don't fear, cause chromehounds incorporates alot of strategy, espessially online. One other cool feature is building your own death machine with parts you gain from completing missions. Ok, time for Sound and Graphics. Chromehounds really pushes the 360 to the limit with graphics and sound. I mean, look at this. Posted Image Score one for Bill gates.Posted Image Anyway, you can see that graphically, this game kicks ass. Every explosion is very, uh... explodey, and satisfying, and even the terrain is realistic. The sound is good, every gun sounds like it should, and you can hear your comrades pretty well over the radio. Over all, this is a good game. Only a few minor things bug me, like how repetitive the missions get sometimes. This isn't a perfect game, but it's definately exceptional. Chromehounds for the XBox 360 gets a... 4/5 |

Cool, AT-ST wars. Maybe worth a rental, trying to conserve funds. |
