In Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest there is a tribe of canibals who make Jack Sparrow their chief. How would Jack know how to go on that island, know their language, and know that they were going to eat him? He must have been there before, what's more is they probably made them their chief before and he escaped because he knew they would eventually eat him. To back up this theory, there is a line (in Pirates of the Caribbean The Curse of the Black Pearl) said by Jack Sparrow when he is talking to the two British soldiers on the boat he was going to commandeer. (Towards the beginning, right when Elizibeth falls into the water.) "And then they made me their chief." It's short, doesn't give much detail, but it does fit with my theory that I put above. |

Yeah... but that whole part where they were on the island was completely irrelevent. now, if those mutaneers had actually stollen the ship, then it would have been relevent. |

Thanks for pointing that out, Borris. The islanders scene had absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the movie and, despite being entertaining, should have been cut down. And Sparrow didn't speak the language. He was talking in gibberish to the islanders (I can't remember anything specific besides incorporating 'tout suite'). And he randomly picked the closests island when he learned that he was being chased by Davy Jones. |

Then how did the islanders understand him (if he was speaking gibberish)? |

To be honest, I don't think they did. He just kinda motioned with his hands and they took that as a message. |
