So while I do not yet have the games, I'm saving up for them. As I wait, I've rough-drafted my teams (I always have more than one, and consider the game done when all members of ever team are at LV. 100). But I've come to a pint where I need some suggestions. Team 1/ Core Team -Froakie -Noibat -Amaura -Klefki -Skiddo -Litleo The core team which I create in each game is composed solely of Pokemon exclusive to that region: new Pokemon. However, this team has some noticeable weaknesses-particularly to Fighting type- and is not set in stone, so I'm asking what, if anything, needs to be changed. I also have two teams yet unfinished: Team 4/ 'Legend' Team -Bagon -Axew -Gible -Croagunk -Charmander -??? Normally, my legend team is composed almost entirely of Dragon-types. However, Fiary is forcing me to rethink. This one has a couple of huge weaknesses, so I need suggestions. Team 5/ 'Final' Team -Fennekin -Clauncher -Pumpkaboo -Mareep (or Absol) -Larvitar (or Aron) -??? The last team that I'll make, I'll be getting the Fennekin at the end of the game. (Third one down) However, I still have one slot open and two undecided. Help me please! |

Team One: Two (Three WILL be) are weak to fighting, three are impartial to fighting, and one resists fighting. Also, Aurorus (Psychic TM) and Greninja (Extrasensory Level Up) can both learn Psychic Type moves, so you're probably good. Or you could always go for an actually Psychic type, like Espurr/Meowstic or Inkay/Malamar. Noibat is unobtainable until close to the end of the game, so you might reconsider it. (or ask for a trade ;)) if you trade it, though, it will be a very high level to evolve it (48). And if Noibat is upposed to be your flier, don't bother, it's a special attacker. Also, I'm sure someone could supply you with a hidden Ability Froakie if you want. Recommendations: Talonflame or Hawlucha for Pyroar (if you want to participate in sky battles, otherwise forget it.) and replace Espurr or Inkay for Noibat. But with this team, you'll completely miss out on Mega Evolution. Moving on... Team Four: Might consider a Goodra. it learns T-Bolt, Flamethrower, ice Beam, and Sludge Wave. Essentially, it can hit a ton of Pokemon super effectively, including Fairy. Also, I could supply you with a Gooey Goomy. Team Five: You have like, two Mega Evolvers. That's like...two. Anyway, for the last slot, I'd go for Florges, because why not. It could function as a cleric if you want that kind of thing. I'd also go for Aron over Larvitar b/c pesky fairies. btw, do you know yet what game your getting? |

For the first point, I'd like to point two things out. First of all, it's not because 2 pokes CAN Mega Evolve that he has to use both Megas. Second of all, having multiple Megas isn't a bad thing for in game. I played through X using Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Charizard X. It simply means you have to choose which one you need most one the given battle. For the second point, I'd like to say that just because one thing is weak to something that it's bad. Besides, my T-tar beats special Lucarios in the Battle Mansion, and if it can live a 4 times super effective move, it will just LAUGH at a 2 times super effective move. T-tar can take on fairies just fine. Also, he already has Feniken who resists Fairy. He doesn't need to have an Aggron. |

@IN- Thanks for the advice, I'll probably end up switch Noibat then, probably for Hawlucha or Talonflame. However, I still like Noivern, so I think I'll flip Noibat to team 5. Goomy added. Ditto what DG said. I've got a friend whose entire team is made up of Megas. X first, Y only if possible. |

Mega Aggron is the only Mega I really have experience with & it's amazing, for what that is worth. Filter makes it a fantastic tank & it doesn't hit lightly either. And of course, normal Aggron isn't something to regard as any short of awesome either, with the alternate great offensive choices of Heavy Metal Slam & Rock Head Smash, or the more defensive Sturdy. |

@IN: Do you have the parent Gooey Sliggoo? Or, at the very least, do any of the Gooey Goomy have 2+ stats with 31 IVs? If so, color me interested. @DG: Sandstorm probably helped. Just saying. ![]() @CW: I was impressed with Mega Aggron just from what I heard. Hopefully I'll have a means to get Aggronite so I can use it on a rain team. |

@WonderTrade: Once. I forget what I got, though. The idea is nice, but not particularly useful either for me seeing as between having X and Y, plus more so my previous gen stuff eventually, I have access to basically everything I want save HA 'mons. @Sticky Web: I've yet to try it, but I probably will eventually. Probably with Ariados. @Gooey Goomy/Sliggoo: My interest in trading has been perked. @Aggron: I have a defensive/SR Aggron on X that I trained with using as a Mega in mind as a possibility once I can get Aggronite traded over off of Y. I also plan to use a Rock Head Aggron in the Gen 3 remakes. I might also try some other sets here too. EDIT: Okay, here's an idea for a Mega Aggron set. I have no idea how effective it would be in practice, but I figured it worth posting even if only for sake of discussion Mega Sweeper Tank Aggron, Aggronite Adamant, Sturdy EVs: Max to Speed and Sp. Defense, remainder to HP Moves: - Automatize - Rest - Stone Edge/Head Smash - ??? Okay, so here's my thinking, bearing in mind I haven't done the exact math. Aggron's weaker defense is its special, so boost it with EVs as much as we can. Speed is another weak stat, and a rather important one here, so boost it with EVs as well to make it more respectable. The remaining EVs can go to HP to give just a little more defensive power. Adamant nature to boost its attack, while feeding off of the Sp. Atk stat it doesn't use. Sturdy guarantees its ability to get off an Automatize, putting it ahead of at least the majority of un-boosted 'mons in Speed. Assuming it did need Sturdy to stop a OHKO and it's down to 1HP, the next move would be to Mega Evolve and use Rest. That heals it and ups its defensive capacity in both stats and ability while it's stuck asleep. Where I'm not sure on the math is how effectively it would be able to tank hits, and there's the concern of a priority attack taking it out before it can recover. Otherwise though, either once it's recovered or if it doesn't need to recover right away, you have a respectably fast 'mon with adamantium defenses and a powerful punch. Ready to wreck your opponents' team. To sort of describe what I was going for here, from a different angle, I was thinking of a way for it's normal abilities to work together with its Mega form. Rock Head obviously doesn't work too well, but Sturdy I figured could be used as a security for setting it up. Speed seemed the good choice of stat to set up, since Aggron is otherwise lacking it and it's vital to heal it immediately after Sturdy, before it can get KOed by something faster. Then once Sturdy has played its role you can Mega Evovle to boost its defense/staying power. Rest is the only healing move it has available to serve that role. Stone Edge or Head Smash then make a good STAB, and I haven't gotten to look at candidates for the final move-slot. |

DF, it has Filter & the same defense stat as Shuckle. If faced with a special attacking fighting/ground/fire type it may find itself in a bit of a pickle but otherwise it's going to be just fine. Might as well put up my MAggron set I use in my Sandstorm team on Showdown. Koios (Aggron) (M) @ Aggronite Ability: Heavy Metal EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef Adamant Nature - Heavy Slam - Superpower - Shadow Claw - Thunder Punch More offensively based, if I need defense I rely on Ferro. I don't bother with speed, as without any boosting moves it's not going to be worth the EVs. If for some reason I don't immediately mega evolve it, Heavy Metal gives it the most lethal Heavy Slam in the game, while after evolving it it's still great Steel STAB. Then the other three are coverage; ThunderPunch in particular is there as the only electric move on my team except for a Forretress's Volt Switch. |

Having just looked at Bulbapedia to research it as I still don't hav either game & am unknowledgable regarding this new entry hazard, you're missing a couple. Smeargle is completely versatile & therefore has a unique niche, however, its stats are lackluster. Using Smeargle you can create fully custom movesets, but if there's another 'mon with access to the moves you want then you should go with it every time. Galvantula is really awesome & also electrocutes things its Pikachu but if Pikachu was a spider & not stupid. Leavanny is Tomoko that got popular I think we're done here. Araidos is utterly unremarkable & basically serves to be Galvantula's functionally useless twin. Still cool tho Masquerain is... ha. Haha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Shuckle is the destroyer of worlds all hail. Considering how specific its role is its very flexible in how it accomplishes this role, & Sticky Web is just one of many moves it has to accomplish this purpose. |
