Its back is covered in short, thick, hollow spines, and it has eleven spines at the end of its tail, with webbing in between them. Its belly is covered in hard scutes. It has crocodilian legs and feet, with nothronychus claws on its hands. It has four eyelids, two normal eyelids and two transparent eyelids. The transparent pair allows it to see much better in water and steam, and protects its eyes from smoke and dust. It has a tongue twice the length of its body. Its tongue is extremely sticky, and has a suction cup at the end. To advertise how dangerous it is, it is very brightly colored - red, with orange armor, blue spines and a blue stomach. ![]() LOGI Info: These large amphibians always live near hot springs, which are most often found on volcanoes. They can resist extremely high temperatures, so they can swim and lay their eggs in the springs. This means that they are usually safe from predators. They also drink the boiling water, and store it in organs that resemble a dragon’s flight bladders. Pyrocanthus flesh is a very good insulatory material, so the water loses no heat while it is stored. By contracting their muscles, they can spray the water out from their spines or thagomizers. This also creates large amounts of steam. Because of their second eyelids, they can see through the steam, but most predators cannot. When they are attacked, they spray their boiling water at the attacker, both burning its skin and hiding themselves from view in the steam. They can swivel their spines in any direction, so they can spray predators no matter where they are standing. They can also spray themselves so that they do not dry out. Pyrocanthus can only spray water from their back spines five times in row, and only twice in a row from their tails, since they can only store a limited amount of water. Their spray is hot enough to cause third degree burns. As a second line of defense, they have poison in their skin that tastes foul, and will give a creature that ingests it agonizing stomachaches. Pyrocanthus eat small animals such as insects and fish. Since they live on volcanoes, there is not a lot of food for them in their natural habitat. This means that to find food they have to leave their hot springs and look elsewhere. Once they have found a swarm of insects or a school of fish they will sweep their incredibly sticky tongues through it. Their saliva contains a mild neurotoxin that immobilizes their prey. Once enough creatures are stuck to their tongue, they withdraw it into their mouths and use the teeth on the roofs of their mouths to scrape the creatures off it before swallowing them. Pyrocanthus can also form a suction cup at the end of their tongues, which only allows them to grab one creature at a time, but allows them to hold much larger creatures. Pyrocanthus cannot chew, so if a prey animal I bigger then their head they will dislocate their jaws to swallow it. If the animal is two big to swallow whole they use their claws to carve it into smaller chunks. Pyrocanthus also use their claws for attacking prey and defense against predators. Pyrocanthus can walk on either two or four legs. They move faster on four legs, but walking on two legs allows them to use their claws. These creatures love fruit, especially juicy fruit such as pomegranates, oranges and kiwis. Due to their unhinging jaws they can swallow fruit up to the size of watermelons whole. Other: Sorry that the picture is so small and blurry. -------------------- |

I thought of a beastie like this, only it was actually fire. It lives in flames, it's body temperature is at 100 degrees celcius, and it doesn't like the cold. Vulcanis, Lord of Fire. |

Only thing I've seen is that you mention it being poisonous as well as having a toxic saliva in the LOGI, but those traits are not mentioned anywhere else that I can see. Otherwise, though, it looks like an interesting creature. |

Hmm. Once this is edited(accepted, sorry), I'd be happy to challenge it with Vulcanis, once he has been brought to the party. Maybe we could actually make a team. |
