Name: Crested Sandsifter (Elaphrophysis paralokatharistis)

Height: 2 feet
Length: 4 feet
Wingspan: 6 feet

Weight: 8 kilograms

Base DNA: Pied avocet, red-necked avocet, Hatzegopteryx thambema, Buitreraptor gonzalezorum

Abilities: Flight, fairly good swimmer

Weaknesses: Fragile bones, can’t stay airborne for long because of its short wingspan

Defenses: Beaking

Special Attributes: None

Description: A bird like creature with an upward curving bill, small claws on its wings, a blue crest on its head, webbed feet and a tail a bit like that of a Buitreraptor. It has a black and white body, wings and tail and a reddish-brown neck and head. There is a white patch around its eyes and the base of its bill.

LOGI Info: Crested Sandsifters live on temperate sandy beaches, combing the sand with their long bills for anything edible, as well as picking at flotsam and jetsam. They aren’t picky, eating arthropods, mollusks, worms, small vertebrates, seaweed and carrion. If they can’t find any of the food they usually eat, they may begin to eat live plants and hunt live animals, mostly fish, although this is rare.
They usually live in loose flocks of anywhere between two and about fifty, depending on how much food there is in the area. They use their crests to communicate and signal to each other, along with loud squawks. These flocks aren’t permanent, though, as Sandsifters regularly migrate back and forth between different beaches, depending on the time of year and the availability of food. As they migrate, they don’t bother to stay with old flock members, and simply join into new flocks once they reach their destination.
Sandsifters mate in mid to late winter, and lay their eggs in early spring. There is little courting between couples before mating takes place. Once a Sandsifter finds a suitable mate, they settle down close beside them, and wait until the other Sandsifter either gives an indication that they are willing to mate, or drives the suitor away. They build simple, rough nests out of sticks on top of large boulders and in trees, and line them with their feathers. Since Sandsifters usually need a run-up to take flight, their claws help them to climb up to their nests, and help the chicks to climb back in if they fall out. Aside from that, they seem to serve little purpose. The parents will take care of the chicks until they are about a month old, feeding them through regurgitation, teaching them to fly, and eventually abandoning them.

I'm sure that there is going to be some hybridisation between the two forms: a new beast, slouching towards us. I'm eagerly looking forward to meeting the beautiful mutant.

The profile looks good to me! I especially like the drawing, the detailing on the wing feathers is great. I think the weight is about right too, (though I'm certainly no expert in that field) so it seems like it's good to go. ^_^

MLS is, and always will be, slightly more intelligent than Ayn Rand.

I like how you’ve crossed out the actually sensible thing, in favor of being Smaug.

The best thing that's happened to me in a long long time. Welcome back bro, I've missed you.
