Name: Venus (Beaticygnus venusi, Venus's Bliss Swan) Height: 6.2 feet Length: 6.8 feet Wingspan: 9.8 feet Weight: 53 pounds Base DNA: Mute Swan, Eagle, Kelenken, Tarantula, Bat, Porcupinefish, Abilities: Flight. Beak can be used like a hatchet. Moderately fast. Water-proofed feathers. Eagle-like vision. Can swim on the surface of water reasonably well. Weaknesses: Lightweight. No armor. Not the most agile in the air, meaning it can be outmaneuvered by better fliers. Wing-Quill Burst can only be used once per battle. Defenses: Feathers. Quills. Flight. Heightened resistance against their quills' cocktail. Special Attributes: Its quills inject a combination of chemicals and poison that have a devastating effect on the target. In the medium and large quills there are two stages of the injection, while the smallest only have the first phase. The first phase contains Endorphins, Dopamine, Anandamide, and Tetrodotoxin. This mixture puts the victim into a blissed-out and painless state, triggers adrenaline (which raises heart rate and constricts blood vessels), paralyzes involuntary muscles, causes short-term memory loss, and also causes a high risk of heart attack. If not a heart attack that kills it, the other effects leave the victim wide open and practically helpless to defend itself. In the event the first phase is survived, it is usually around the time it is wearing off that the second stage is injected. The second stage contains Serotonin, which inflicts Serotonin Syndrome. This puts the victim right back into a state of bliss, and also causes nausea, diarrhea, hallucinations, and dizziness. The quills on the neck, back and chest are purely defensive. The quills in the tail and at the end of the wings however can be flung at targets with reasonable accuracy. The small quills on the front of the wings can also be fired by constricting and then releasing the wings, causing all the small quills to be shot at a target. This can also be done in the air, at other flying or ground targets by entering a brief dive. As this attack fires all of the small quills at once it means it must be used cautiously and carefully. Description: In general it looks like a giant Mute Swan. It has the legs of a Kelenken with webbed feet. Its wings, though feathered, are structured like bat wings. It's beak is thicker than normal and ends in a sharp, curved tip. It also has quills amongst its feathers. The largest are on its back and tail. The medium-sized ones are on the back of its neck, its chest, and at the ends of its wings. The smallest ones are hard to see unless you look closely, and are located on the front of the wings. LOGI Info: Venus are at home in most temperate to tropical environments with adequate supplies of freshwater ponds lakes and rivers. Their diet is a mix of fish, small animals, and water plants. Generally they docile towards other large creatures unless provoked. Though that includes their own kind and they can often be found in groups around water sources they travel solitary. When threatened or faced with a predator Venus are quick to fight back and attack head on, almost always employing the use of their unique quills. An exception to this is when they are faced with a creature that out matches them in combat or by considerable size, in which case they will take the route of flight and flee. As they lack armor they rely heavily on dodging attacks and disabling opponents with their quills. Aside from their quills, Venus are best know for their ravenous sexual appetite even when out of season. In fact, they tend to get around more and more freely outside of the mating season, likely because such pairings are not for reproductive purposes. In the mating season they have a much more refined and restrained manner in pairing up, with the males "dancing" to impress females. Other: This was brutal. I had everything but this and the LOGI done and then my computer sent me back to square one. Ugh. Anyway, Venus. Goddess of Love to whom the swan is a symbolic animal, and the second closet planet to the Sun which is known for its lethal atmosphere. Throw in a touch of "love poison" and here we are. Instead of just going for a run-of-the-mill poison though, I got creative and enlisted Tys' help to create what you see here. It, more or less, pleasures the victim to death. Injecting it by shooting quills is also a reference to Cupid that I slipped in. Their "appetite" is both a reference to how much Venus/Aphrodite got around (not that the other gods/goddesses didn't) plus the Green Pernese Dragons. |
