Hey guys, So one of my favorite websites is the SCP Foundation wiki, as it is full of wickedly awesome win, much of which is worded in a way that is terrifyingly realistic. It may be the best creepypasta out there. Throughout the world there have always been artifacts and creatures that defy our normal understanding of the universe. Through mankind's history we have called them curses, monsters, gods, etc. Some are relatively benign, such as a collection of pills that can heal any sort of illness, including zombification, completely. Others are certainly dangerous, but through proper containment and strict procedures are controllable. One such example is a statue that is harmless when stared at, but when not in sight tries to kill any life form nearby. Others still can very easily destroy all life on the planet, and are only stopped by the SCP Foundations efforts. S.C.P. stands for "Secure Contain Protect," which is what the Foundation aims to do. They secure the artifacts from the world, contain them within various facilities, and protect both mankind from the artifacts, and the artifacts from malicious use by other groups. My favorite article is definitely SCP-882. It's hard to explain, but basically its a mass of clockwork gears that grows with the addition of more metal, and when it isn't fed makes people go insane. I also just read SCP-342 which is a one way ticket to Hell. Doesn't sound like much, and its one of the really long articles, but the experiment logs really sell it! The first article was SCP-173, and the most popular I believe is SCP-087. 173 is essentially a weeping angel (though interestingly came out a few month before the Doctor Who episode) and 087 is an unending downward staircase with a stalker inside of it. On a side note: the story I'm working on is kind of like a blend between SCP and Genome Inc. |
