Name: Kairopteryx Height: 12 feet Length: 40 feet Wingspan: 70 feet Weight: 2 tons Base DNA: Spinosaurus aegyptiacus, Malaysian flying fox, sunflower, largescale archerfish, golden eagle, mountain dragon, Dorygnathus banthensis, green iguana, Cape gannet, Common Guillemot, Lampyris noctiluca, panther chameleon, Australian giant cuttlefish, electric catfish, marbled electric ray, Peripatoides novaezealandiae, emperor penguin Abilities: Flight, fire breath, can spray water, electric burst, strong swimmer, can glow and change colour Weaknesses: Fragile bones, wing membrane can be easily torn and has a lot of blood vessels running through it, can’t keep up its fire breath for very long, electric burst tires it out, limited supply of water, weak bite, can’t take off from the ground, so they need to launch themselves from something like a cliff or the crest of a large wave to get airborne Defenses: Fire, electricity, water, flight, talons Special Attributes: Fire, electricity, water, flight, glowing, changing colour, extremely sensitive to changes in the weather and will change alongside it, can pump air around its water sacks using specialized air vessels to cool the water inside Description: A gigantic Dorygnathus with a Spinosaurus neck and head with long teeth, bat wings and golden eagle talons. Most of its torso, upper wings and upper legs are covered by “pterofuzz”, but the head, neck, lower wings, lower legs and tail are scaly. The tail has a vane at its tip. There is a row of spines running down its neck, back and tail. It only has three fingers in its wings, but they are thicker and stronger than normal bat fingers, with larger claws. They are tucked against the Kairopteryx’s sides, like a bird’s wings, when not in use. They also have rows of small pores on their undersides from which they can spray water. A Kairopteryx’s colours change to match the weather. Their scales and fuzz glow, sometimes dimly and sometimes brightly, depending on the weather. LOGI Info: Kairopteryx are extremely sensitive to changes in the weather. Changes in humidity, temperature and sunlight will affect them psychologically, and this in turn will affect their appearance and behavior. In bright sunlight, they will be white, yellow, red and orange, and will use their fire breath as their main form of attack and defense. When the weather is cloudy or rainy, they will be grey and blue in colour, and use sprays of water from their mouth and wings. During a storm, they will be black, white and yellow, and will attack with a combination of water and electricity. In cold weather, during snow or sleet, they will inhale cold air and pump it over their water sacks, cooling the water inside, and use this cold water. At night, if it is cloudy, stormy or snowy, their colours will be the same as if it was that weather during the day, but if they night sky is clear, they will turn a soft, silvery colour. On the rare occurrence that the sun is shining brightly and it is raining heavily at the same time, Kairopteryx will use both their fire and water, and become red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Kairopteryx are piscivores, and inhabit sea cliffs. They prefer tropical and subtropical climates, but are occasionally found in temperate regions. When hunting, they glide high over the seas surface, until they find a shoal of fish. They are not built for diving from high up, so once they find their prey, they fly down to the water near the fish, but not close enough to disturb them. They then dive underwater and swim down and across, propelling themselves with their wings, in a long, curving dive, until they are directly underneath the fish. Then, they swim straight up, trapping the fish against the surface of the water, blocking them from escaping with their huge wings, and grabbing them with their elongated jaws and teeth. To catch larger, solitary fish, they skim low over the surface of the water, then thrust their legs under the surface, grab the fish in their talons and fly back to their cliff with it. Kairopteryx are usually peaceful unless provoked, and since they only feed on fish, they can be quite friendly towards other animals. However, sudden changes in the weather can bring about mood swings in a Kairopteryx, and they become particularly violent during storms. Kairopteryx mate for life, but outside the breeding season, they tend to live separately from their partners. Each individual Kairopteryx has a signature call, and they use these to locate each other again every breeding season. They tend to use the same cliffs to breed at every year. When they meet each other again, the Kairopteryx pair will fly extremely high, lock their talons together and dive straight down, gripping each other tightly. As they fall, they will tuck their wings in, and often begin to spin around. Moments before hitting the water, they will let go of each other and pull up just before crashing, then skim low over the surface of the waves together, side by side, before soaring back to the cliffs. This ritual helps pairs to renew their bonds with each other. After that, they will build a nest together at the top of their cliff, and after mating, the female will lay a clutch of two to seven eggs. Both parents will help to take care of them for about five months, after which they will be large enough and strong enough flyers to leave the nest. The parents tempt them to fly for the first time by hovering a few meters from the edge of the cliff top, holding a fish in their mouths or talons. Usually, while one parent does this, the other will stay on the cliff with the fledglings. If they are taking too long to make their first flight, this parent will throw them off the cliff, which usually prompts them to start flying immediately. If the fledgling is still unwilling to fly, the hovering parent will swoop down, catch them, and bring them back to the top of the cliff, upon which the cycle will begin again. After leaving the nest, it will take the fledglings about five years to grow to their full adult size and become sexually mature. Other: I can't draw spinosaurid heads. -------------------- |

Only one problem I see so far. It is, as you probably guessed, weight. Now a Quetzalcoatlus with a 70 foot wingspan would weigh around 1.3 tons. This thing appears considerably more massive, so it'd be more like 2 tons, IMO. |

Hehe. So, they've figured it out at last. Yes, indeed. I am a wizard. You always thought it was Sigma, but you where wrong. It was me the whole time. Sigma was simply a distraction. So, while you where all paying attention to him, I sneakily did wizard stuff, such as saying weird words that make things happen, waving a stick at people, and even reading books! It's to late to stop it now! Mwahahahaha! But seriously, I am a wizard. |
