Ah, of course DF! I really enjoyed it! Sorry I inadvertently killed it as I left, the WiFi around campus is a complete atrocity this time of year. Hopefully we can have another match soon though, I'd be stoked, especially if you don't get trapped in the center of the jungle of doom :P. I probably won't be available very often, but I do know I have all of next week off, so hopefully we can work something out for then! I also don't have classes tomorrow, but alas you'll be working no doubt. |

Hahah, actually, I was doing pretty nicely besides that. Really my only problem was that any early-conquest using Assyria's Siege Towers was nearly out of the question since I needed to build up better territory first. XD Next week sounds like a good time for me. As I said, I should only be working Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday that week. I know that Wednesday for sure I'll be largely free, but I should also have at least some time and flexibility for the other days that I'm off. Oh, and you might find it funny that I'm currently in a tough-choice position in my Byzantium TSL regarding a certain civ. Basically, the only other civ left on Mediterranean coasts now is Portugal, who controls (what would be) Spain and southern France. They refuse any open borders with me, and although I set myself up a "backdoor" on the Arabian coast, that really doesn't help me get settlers over to America like I wanted. My problem with just attacking Portugal, though, is that they've became my sole and VERY lucrative trade partner. Tl;dr, my options are "attack Portugal, claim their coastal lands, and get settlers to the Americas at the cost of roughly 80 GPT", or "entertain my navy by sending it south to the Zulus and put settling the Americas on hold until Maria lightens up about open borders". We all know what the safe option is, but darnit, I really want to attack Portugal! |

Wednesday would be great! And if you want we can try to work things out too on the other days. And huh, that is quite the predicament! And you've no other trade partners available? Honestly I've gone whole games with Maria never budging on her stance of say... affordable citrus. She's a rather tough one to negotiate with, at least for me personally. What's the rest of the world look like? I'm guessing Shaka has a substantial amount of Africa? |

As for the exact time, I'm ahead of you a few hours so I'll probably be ready anytime after you're up. For the other days I'll have to see/double check if I need to help out with anything around the farm (I.E. cutting firewood) once it gets closer, but more or less the same kind-of idea. ---------- Well, I do have some other trade options, but there's two issues. I either need to wait for more current routes to expire or build a new set of trade-units. My next best non-Portugal trade routes, meanwhile, are with city-states that get me only about half of what I get with Portugal. I mean I could do it, but it would still hurt my income. Quick-ish summary of how things look in the world... Byzantium(Myself); One of the top civs right now, I've got a good navy and nearly all the coast of the Med and the Black Sea. The Ottomans; Main rival of the Byzantines in the past, but now their vassal after being defeated when the tensions turned to war. With a little time, this old rival is now on friendly terms with their new master. Holding Istanbul and a city in what would be Syria, The Ottomans act as a barrier between Byzantium and any inland civs to the east who might attack. Russia; A very decent civ with a good chunk of territory ranging from the Black Sea north. Formerly at war with Byzantium alongside the Polish, but never actually joined the battle. Relations are currently a bit tense. Poland; In the past they declared war on Byzantium, to which they lost two cities and the bulk of their army. Has not recovered well from the loss, being a minor civ controlling two cities in their "natural" range of Poland. The Netherlands; A two-city civ in what would be northern Germany. So far has been negligible and unworthy of note. Greece; AKA the civ that, allied with Rome, declared war on Byzantium then did nothing until their capital of Athens was lost to them and the war ended. Greece survived by founding two cities in would-be northern France, while Rome has since perished in recent Byzantine conquests. Greece holds on, but has recently lost one of their cities to the following civ... The Celts; As of yet un-met, but known via map-trading. Three cities on their native island, plus a fourth captured from Greece, and founder of the Catholic religion. Portugal; Owner of everything from southern France to the Straights of Gibraltar. One of the more notable civilizations at this time. We just went over them, so no more need be said. Carthage; Just lost their capital, and about to lose its neighboring city to the Byzantines. Will survive on (at least) through a trio of young coastal cities in there area of Morocco and Senegal. Been semi-okay earlier on, but recently falling behind even prior to the Byzantine attack. Songhai; Pretty much just chilling by themselves in their local area. Not doing bad, but hasn't done anything notable. The Zulus; The Zulus inhabit southern Africa, though their exact territories are unknown. On the entire African coast they only have two cities; their capital, and one in the area of Gabon. Their score is one of the lowest though, so it is unlikely they have much more than that. So to answer your question about them; not even close. Babylon and Persia; Despite being neighbors, BOTH of these civilizations are among the top right now, and neither of them are too happy with the Byzantines. Exact ranges are unknown as no scouting has been done that far inland, but Babylon does have a few cities north of the Caspian Sea before Russia. Denmark; Known via map-trade but currently unmet. Basically just chilling out in their local area up there. Further information unknown. The Iroquois; Also not met yet but revealed by map-trading. Only known cities are on the eastern US coast. Tl;dr, the (known) main powers right now are Portugal, Byzantium, Russia, Babylon, and Persia. Poland, the Netherlands, Greece, and the Zulus all suck (as do the Ottomans for that matter, but they're the happy vassal of the Byzantines). Carthage is okay-ish but headed towards suck under the Byzantine attack. Denmark, The Celts, and Songhai are all sorta in the middle. The Iroquois are a near-complete unknown. I didn't have time to play last night, but now that I'm done this I'll get another few turns in and maybe decide what I want to do. I doubt I can make it happen and it's irrelevant to my Portugal problems anyway, but I just noticed how ripe Babylon and Persia are to be set against each other. EDIT: Wow, a lot of stuff just happened in a half-dozen turns. A quick correction though; that "second coastal Zulu city" was really a Carthagian city of decent size. My mistake. At any rate... -Got open borders with Portugal by giving them some spare strat. resources. -Captured that second Carthagian city, prompting Carthage to make peace by giving me those three fledgling cities (I razed 'em all, there was nothing to them) and becoming a vassal. -Likely prompted by my actions with Carthage and us now sharing a border, Portugal denounces me. I also notice that Portugal has a half-decent army and a slight technological edge, making me reconsider my stance. Without any other near-by targets, I set my navy in defensive positions against Portugal while I wait for Navigation to finish researching. -Portugal begins making declarations of friendship with the Netherlands and Poland. I respond by allying a few European city-states. Portugal is also now on top of the Military demographic; I'm 5th. -Persia offers to trade me for one of my spare luxuries. I make a counter offer; two of my spare luxuries if they declare war of Babylon. They accept. -I begin producing a few knights, planning to use them to harass Babylon in order to gain favor with Persia and just generally get Babylon weakened. -My settlers, meanwhile, are nearly out of the Med and hopefully will make it into the Atlantic before this cold war between me and Portugal goes hot. Navigation will be finished next turn, allowing me to start upgrading my Galleys. |

Excellent! If anything comes up for the other days, feel free to let us know! And ah, what an interesting world you've got going on there! At this point I guess there's not much to do other than waiting. A conquest of Portugal would be really cool but that would probably damage the global economy for a while. Or at the very least the regional economy. Whatever you chose to do, best of luck! |

A bit of stuff has happened again, so update time as requested. Going to split it up into "fronts" since a lot of stuff is happening at the same time in various places. The Eastern Front: Byzantium joins the war against Babylon. Maps of the middle-east are obtained, revealing Babylon to have only a total of three (though admittedly tall) cities, Persia meanwhile has five cities that are largely spread out. Persian forces siege the city of Babylon, Byzantine knights take the field to harass the Babylonians. The city state of Ur, neighbor of Babylon and Persia, is allied by Persia and joins the fight as well. Babylon makes peace with Byzantium by offering a 15 population city just inland of the Caspians' northern shore. The city of Babylon then promptly gets captured... by Ur. Babylon is reduced to a single city between the Caspian and Russia, and is still technically at war with Persia and co. The Northern Front: The Celts declare war on The Netherlands. They are successful, capturing the Dutch capital and making them into a vassal. New maps reveals just how much territory Russia has, nearly but not quite as much as Byzantium. Greece manages to plant a city on the tip of Italy. Byzantium quickly declares war, razes the city, and leaves Greece in a fight with their neighboring city-states. An aside; as of my last turn Russia is leading in technology, with Byzantium clawing its way up from tenth to third. The Southern Front: Songhai and The Zulu declare war on Byzantium... and then proceed to do nothing. Songhai gives away a city to make peace (which is then traded to Carthage), and the Zulus pay in gold for peace. As of my last turn, the Zulu have returned to the top military demographic after having fallen behind Portugal. The Western Front: Trade routes to Portugal have expired and been redirected in expectation of war. Naval upgrades have been made to the Byzantine fleet, which now stands ready to attack. In the far west, contact has been made with The Iroquois, who prove to be a superpower dominant in population, crop-yield, and land. They control much of eastern North America, from Hudson's Bay to the Gulf of Mexico, only excluding a section between the city-state of Quebec and the Canadian east coast. Central America is controlled by the small but concentrated, thriving, and highly religious Mayans. At long last, two Byzantine settlers have made it to the new world; one has founded a city in what would be Nova Scotia, while the other has set up in the Dominican Republic. |

Yep, I'm all ready for tomorrow, and as you said, others are certainly welcome to join us! ![]() BTW, my schedule for the rest of the week looks like this; I'm working Thursday, off Friday, working Saturday, and off Sunday. I'm probably all-clear on Friday, but I expect on Sunday I'll be cutting firewood for the first part of the day. Also, a quick update on my game; I finally attacked Portugal. Having my navy upgraded to Frigates, half of which have Range kind-of made it one-sided. Basically, Portugals' tiny Navy got wrecked, and I then proceeded to pick off their land units and cities safely thanks to Range. Currently I have two of their cities (one of which is their capital) out of four, and one of the remaining two is one I had already captured once before their straggling troops re-took it. So pretty much, Portugal is down to its final moments. Meanwhile I've also just made a declaration of friendship with the Iroquois, who are the next biggest civ right now after me. (Oh, and Greece is still getting wrecked by my city-state allies. IDK why they don't just finish it already; they certainly could do it. XD ) |

EB Games or someplace like that would probably have it. Though you might almost be as far off to get it on Steam, since Civ requires/uses Steam anyways. |
