Name: Grunntusk (Acanthosaurosus pachycephalos)

Height: 2 feet
Length: 5 feet

Weight: 21 kilograms

Base DNA: Wild boar, warthog, European hedgehog, red-faced spider monkey, tokay gecko, Wannanosaurus yansiensis

Abilities: Good climber, quite fast, brilliant sense of smell, good sense of hearing, prehensile tail, gore, head butt

Weaknesses: No armour on limbs, belly, tail or throat, limbs can be broken fairly easily, poor eyesight

Defenses: Tusks, thick skull, back spines, speed, good climber

Special Attributes: Brilliant sense of smell

Description: The Grunntusk has a long, slim body, somewhere between that of a boar and a gecko in shape. It has long limbs, somewhat like those of a spider monkey, and feet like those of a gecko, with long toes. It tail is also like that of a spider monkey. It has a boar like head with a thick, pachycephalosaur style skull, warthog like tusks, a small nose horn, large ears and spines where its head meets its neck. The tusks, horn and neck spines are larger in males. It also has smaller, hedgehog like spines running down its back, starting at its neck and ending over its hips. It is covered in short, bristly fur.
Grunntusks are usually black, brown or grey in colour, with lighter creamy white or yellow blotches.

LOGI Info: Grunntusks are medium sized (Although small by Genome Incorporated standards) herbivores which inhabit temperate to boreal forests. They prefer dense forests to thinner ones, and because it is often quite dark in this kind of habitat, they rely more on their senses of hearing, smell and touch than on sight.
They are good climbers, with long, prehensile tails and gecko feet, allowing them to scale even vertical surfaces, so long as they aren’t completely smooth. They spend a lot of their time in the trees, but also regularly come down to the forest floor. They feed mostly on leaves, bark, fruit and lichens, although they love fungi and use their brilliant sense of smell to sniff them out. They have a particular preference for truffles. Their smell also allows them to determine whether a fungus is poisonous or edible.
Grunntusks live in loose family groups, comprised of several related adults and their offspring. They usually number between six and twenty individuals. Their breeding season is in the early winter, and they have a gestation period of about five months, so their piglets are usually born in the spring. The sows give birth to litters of two to seven piglets. Both parents, as well as their brothers and sisters, help to raise the piglets and tech them how to forage and defend themselves from predators.
If a Grunntusk is attacked by a predator, they will usually try to flee, running into forest too dense for their pursuer to follow or escaping up a tree. If they are cornered and unable to escape, they will attempt to gore with their tusks or head butt the predator. Their back spines also give them some defense.
Grunntusks are quite sociable and friendly and generally rather tame and inquisitive around humans, and as such are easily domesticated. .

I'm sure that there is going to be some hybridisation between the two forms: a new beast, slouching towards us. I'm eagerly looking forward to meeting the beautiful mutant.

It's quite darn heavy for being so skinny. Water Monitors of comparable lengths are around 15-20 kilograms. And they have a similar build.

I based the weight off the weight of a wild boar. In hindsight, that probably wasn't a good idea. Wild boars are much bulkier than Grunntusks. I'll change it to thirty kilograms, since it does have the tusks and spines and so on.

Well, 10 kilograms is really heavy for just tusks and spikes on a creature this size. I'd say 2-3 kilograms is the most spikes and tusks could add to a creature of this size.

Alright, down to 21 kilograms.

EDIT: Grunntusk must have been doing some serious workouts to lose 49 kilograms in under a day.
