And see, there's all the difference. In a real/regular water jet, you've got all of this pressurized water looking for a way out. Then you give it this little "pin-prick" of a hole to escape out, and it takes it. Now, because of how small the opening is compared to the pressure, you get the speed from all this water trying to push through a small, concentrated hole all at once. But because the hole is so small, it doesn't take as much pressure to reach that speed and it's far easier to maintain. Now, let's say that hole is the sixe of your head. You turn that sucker on, even just to shoot a "bullet" as this critter does, and a good chunk of your pressure is going to dissipate in more-or-less a snap of your fingers. Now as a result, the bigger, less concentrated blast isn't going to be near as strong as the smaller one was. In order for the bigger hole to provide the same power as the smaller one, you'll need a system with way more pressure and size behind it. I can't say for certain, but I think even scaling up the system to the size of the bigger hole might not work. That is, in making the hole bigger, the system needed to power it is comparatively bigger than it's smaller counter part. If the smaller hole uses a system which is sized as a "1", a hole twice its size would need a "2.5" or higher system. Kind-of rambling off track there so getting back to the point. For the big guy here to make water-blasts comparable to a small water jet, he's going to need a lot bigger system and be under far more pressure then his form has any chance of supporting. |

Good point. I'll just decrease the cannon's nozzle size. I suppose that's also gonna give the neat side effect of more ammo. Edit: Decreased the nozzle size to be around half their previous size, and upped the ammunition as a result. |

Well, maybe not increased ammo either... I've been thinking about how it shoots the water as a "bullet" and I'm seeing the same thing I think saidi was seeing. Just follow me here. With a water jet, it cuts through stuff by basically shooting it with, well, a jet of water as fast speeds. Now when the water hits, just like a bullet or any other projectile, it comes under the effects of that classic line "an object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an equal or opposite force". Which is another way of saying that upon impact it loses some amount of speed/momentum and continues to do such until it's clear through it target AKA the opposite force. So in a regular water jet what happens is that since there a constant stream of water at speed, it never "loses" any speed because the water/force is continually replaced. However, if you're just firing a single "bullet", then you're placing all your hopes that it has enough force just by itself. In my opinion, I have a hard time seeing one "bullet" being enough to put a hole clean through a creature of similar size as you described it doing, let alone getting into the matter of how armor plays in. Not to say the single bullet still wouldn't inflict damage/hurt like shell, but I don't see it alone being able to hit vital organs in many cases, let alone be the clean shot. With that said, even if you do change it to a jet you have another issue. What creature is going to stay still long enough for the jet hit in one specific place to the point of making a hole clean through it? As soon as it feels the pain, that critter is going to be moving in some way or another. |

What CS said. Also, with how fast a water jet cutter shoots, it really doesn't matter if they move. Just a slip second and there's a hole already. Also, I'll change it to a stream, with necessary adjustments. |

Ah, and there's a good additional point onto mine about the "garnet and stuff". A, that a water jet works by rapid erosion, not just a single "bullet", and B, that it does so with debris speed up by the water, not the water itself. |

Well about the first thing, that's already been changed. And the second part, its not like it drinks specially filtered water. The water it shoots it going to be filled with random small particles. |

*Flaily noodly arms* WAIT, BUT, BUT, IT'S- *Smack* Bad OM. Back in your kennel. To elaborate, and please understand that I don't mean to hate: I feel its worth mentioning that from a technical standpoint I have trouble seeing how this thing can eat or drink. I would imagine it has to bend its head down to about ground level, which seems really difficult given the picture. Also, with a weight of 150 tons I would imagine it would need more column like legs, kinda like what you see in a sauropod or elephant. As is, it's got a LOT of weight sitting on those leg joints, which makes it seem very likely to suffer a critical structural failure. Not to mention that since it weighs that much its muscular system is going to be under tremendous stress just to stand, and much more to actually move. I imagine being coated in iron is more of a nerf than a buff. One, rain is going to be your worst enemy, as it will cause it your iron to rust up really badly, which would make mobility even less while also making your armor less resistant. Given that this thing also has a water based attack I see that as a bad combo. Furthermore, if the outer layer gets damaged, say something crushes it and it caves in, I don't know how easily it would heal. I would imagine that adults would have all sorts of deformities because of that. Then there's also the curiosity of where its finding the iron for its diet. Also, wouldn't being covered in iron, a conductor, make it a lot harder to control electricity, and actually make it more susceptible to electric based attacks? I'd think it would need some sort of insulator. I know geckos can stick with the hairs on their feet, but that's because their toes are backwards. They have to essentially peel them off of a surface, otherwise they'd stay stuck. Judging by the more hoof shaped foot this seems to have, I think it would be difficult for it to accomplish this. Also not sure how well propellers would work to shoot the water. CO2 would take a bit to spin up. Might work better if it can actually adjust the shape of the bladder, perhaps by have a muscle contraction forcing the nozzle into it, to force the water out that way. Besides, that CO2 has gotta go somewhere, and being trapped in the arm wouldn't allow it to escape. Could force it out the water stream I guess, but that would just aerate it and make it less effective. Anyway, these are nit-picky things, and personally I don't really have an issue with them. I think we've let such things in terms of weight and legs slide before, and I know unnatural armors such as hardened carbon plating are allowed, even that would technically require tremendous amounts of pressure to accomplish. Personally I look forward to this becoming a thing, so that it can rofl stomp all of my creatures. |

I know you're not trying to hate. Questions and criticism are very different from "dis iz stoopid". Anyway, answer time. It doesn't just lower its head and neck. It bends over its entire body, which is 90% of the reason why I gave it armor plating instead of just giving it a stiff body. Yeah, that's probably right, but seeing as we have bigger things with similarly, if not more nonsensical legs, that hardly seems like a problem. You do have another good point. I'll have to look for a solution to the rusting problem. Anyway, its armor isn't really something easily dentable. After all, you'd need to dent the exoskeleton underneath as well, which isn't easily accomplished. As for where it gets the iron, I explained in the LOGI. The conductor IS the insulator. The iron conducts the electricity around the body, rather then through it. Its the same reason why a car is a safe place to be in during a thunderstorm. Well, the feet aren't actual hooves. I did mention them being softer and vulnerable then the rest of its body, minus the joints. I imagine the actual foot on which it stands is able to move and be peeled of the ground. The CO2 isn't trapped, though. It can escape out of the nozzle, water or no water. |

Except that you are assuming that you're safe inside of a car, which you aren't. If you touch the metal, it will shock you. A car is only a safe place to be in during a thunderstorm if you aren't touching any of it, and this thing is wearing all of it. |
