Name (of creature): Gigantoctopodus erpetus (Giant eight legged crawler)

Primary diet: Anything edible that doesn’t struggle.
Habitat: Mesopelagic plains

Height: 1.9 meters
Length: 3 meters (10 feet).

Weight: 1.1 tons

Base DNA: Gastonia, Sea Urchin, Electric Eel, Camel

Abilities: Sensitive eyes allow it to see in near complete darkness of the mesopelagic zone. Able to survive for long periods of time without food.

Weaknesses: Slow top speed of 8 mph. Although its osteoderms are though, the rest of its body if soft and easily damaged. No offensive capabilities beyond stomps and body slams. Dies when derived from the pressure of its natural habitat.

Defenses: Relatively large size. Osteoderms.

Special Attributes: In addition to its eyesight, it also has active electrolocation to help it sense its environment.

Description: Basically, it looks like a fleshy loaf of bread with 8 legs, ankylosaurian osteoderms, eyes on its body, and a head that sort of resembles the lower half of a Vampire Squid.

LOGI Info: “Although it might look rather basic as far as genetically engineered monstrosities come, Gigantoctopodus is a critter that would leave a big impact on the history of Genome Island.”

“Amongst the first few creatures created, Gigantoctopodus is the founding species of the family Gigantoctopodae, which is most well known for the sub-family Akinitheridae, which are larger, more successful, shelled members of the Gigantoctopodae. While these day, Gigantoctopodus is rather small compared to many of the islands creatures. Back when it first appeared, it was amongst the largest creatures created by the foundation, hence why it has gigant in its name.”

“Gigantoctopodi live on the mesopelagic plains, where they spend most of their time searching for any scraps of food. Although they are generally peaceful, they are known to chase small carnivores away from carcasses. Their keen eyes and electroreception allow them to find their way in a world with very little light. Once, Gigantoctopodi where some of the most abundant creatures in their habitat, being fearing next to nothing. However, as time moved on and the Genome Incorporated foundation made bigger and bigger creatures, their population dwindled ad they became hunted by predators like the Snappermouth and Hermagler. Now, they are fairly rare, with a rough estimate of less then a thousand of them left. But they still hang on, unlike many of the other creatures created around the same time it was.”

“Overall, whilst Gigantoctopodus may not be quite what it used to be, it provided a blueprint that given rise to many successful creatures. Including some of the largest beasts on the island.” ~David Gordon

Other: What? It is by far the smallest Gigantoctopodid I have made so far. Did you really think I WASN’T going to give it a contradictory name?
