See, I'd probably like the idea of swamps being like that if it weren't for the fact that ANY forested area on the island is basically like that already. Being able to "hide out" in the swamps would be/is kind-of a fun notion. ...Actually, you know, that gives me a sort of idea. If there were environmental differences that give local species a (useful) home turf advantage over outsiders it would be pretty cool. I.E. Swamps are too dense and wet for Rexes to fight effectively in, so someone with... let's say a Sarco, would outmatch a Rex in the Swamps. IDK, I just like that it would spread out the viability of creatures a bit more. Plus it would be a neat mechanic for PvP; if you want to attack a snow/swamp-based tribe you could try it with your standard Rex/Argent army, but using local creatures suited to the terrain would be more effective. EDIT: @DG: Mine's at 300 IIRC. Do you even lift? |

So, after the server took like half a day to update, I quickly managed to tame a level 112 Beelzebufo. Lemme tell you, these things tame hyper fast. With raw prime, the level 112 one was tamed in like 5 minutes. Anyway, we had happy times together, wrecking Sarcos, demolishing caves, ect. All was going well. Until I went into the lava cave. A bit of wrecking later, and I miscalculated a jump, and poor Gigasos jumped like an inch too far, landing in the lava. I desperately tried to find any place for him to stand, but we both ended up melting. So, I lost Gigasos the Beelzebufo, as well as a bunch of Journeyman's gear that I'd gathered in like a week of killing Alphas. Needless to say, I was a little... displeased... with my absolute failure. However, seeing how easy they are to tame, I decided to get myself another one. Somebody on the server actually spotted a level 120 Beelzebufo and asked if anyone wanted to tame it. So, naturally, I packed my things and ran over there with Cyprectus and Mr. Peggerson. And so the tranqing began. But of course, something had to go wrong here as well. Don't worry, the newly tamed Napoleon is safe and sound. But, when I was tranqing him, I thought one of my stings had missed him. Naturally, that "missed" sting also proved to be the one that KO'd him. And naturally, when I tried to re-sting him, I did it the moment he fell unconscious. So, his taming effectiveness was demolished to a mere 50%. He could've been level 180 upon taming, but nope. He was only level 150. Oh well. I plan on taming myself a new high level Gigasos tomorrow, though perhaps I'll get a Dire Wolf first. Pelt collecting is rather time consuming without one. |

So, quick update. Today I tamed a new Gigasos as well as a level 76 Dire Wolf. After that I also took Ganeshani and Svarog to build a small cottage in the tundra around 30/25, right next to a supply of metal, crystal and obsidian, not to mention, all the pelt dropping mammals. Tommorow, I'm gonna build a fence around the cottage as well as craft a bunch of Fur gear and leave it there in a storage box in case any of you come to visit. When I'm done with that's I'll be sure to return Ganeshani and Svarog home. |

So yeah guys, the upcoming patch actually adds some new, possibly useful stuff. But mostly it'll be used for shenanigans. So we're getting bug repellant, a club that can knock people out regardless of armor, and a poison gas grenade (can't wait to have fun with those around the base). Also jerky cook time is getting reduced, and some form of Trophy system is being implemented... |

Nice! I just saw your pics of it on Steam. Very cozy looking. A question I meant to ask sooner; has anyone noticed/figured out where I hid the feed trough in the little storage shed I made last weekend? I'm rather pleased with how that (unexpectedly) turned out. And yes, I'll patch in those couple holes left in the wall this weekend provided DG has the building crew back by then. |

Don't worry DF. I returned the building crew this morning on the new cargo ship I built specifically for the purpose of transporting mounts from the main base to the snow base, and vice verca. Anyway, about the outpost. Turns out fencing it off is gonna be next to impossible, because, due to how deep the snow is, I can't see where I'm placing the fence foundations. Basically, whether I place them in the right spot at the right angle boils down to blind luck. No thanks, game. I'd rather not spend 50 minutes and 30 foundations just to get one fence foundation in the right spot. I've also made 3 sets of fur gear, one for each of you, currently in the armor storage box, and I've also placed a smaller storage box for each of us to store whatever stuff we don't need in the tundra. This is most important when you want to go farm pelt with a Dire Wolf, because its weight capacity is simply horrible, and pelt is heavy. So when you go hunting, put pretty much everything on your character in your box. I would also encourage painting your respective box in whatever colors you want, to make it easier to differentiate whose box is whose without having to check the name every time. Now it's picture time. Exterior Interior Also, I have good news, namely that I won't have to borrow either of the builders anymore. Not sure if I mentioned this before, but I tamed a working Doedicurus named Shedillo a couple days ago, and today I tamed a level 108 Mammoth, the new El Giganto. I actually tried to tame another Mammoth first, but she got attacked by a pack of Dire Wolves, and while they didn't kill her, well, they where partially inside of her, so let's just say that Savage is not the type of ape you want to be friendly-fired by. Heck, El Giganto's tame was also nearly ruined by those stupid dogs. You see, as soon as I was about to start tranqing him, a Megaloceros that was being chased by like 6 Wolves ran by him. 5 of the Wolves aggrod onto the future El Giganto, pushing him off the 200 foot cliff he was standing next to, even following him down. But, because high level Mammoth, El Giganto managed to kill them all. So then I had to wait for like 30 minutes for him to heal up before I could tranq him. Oh well, worth it. Anyway, lastly, I finally finished the turtle taming project with the 3 last females. |

Well, I'm in no rush. I'm working Saturday this week on overtime to fill in at work, so I've only got Sunday off. Plus, I probably/possibly have some stuff around home to do on Sunday that'll eat up my time too. So at this point I'm not sure if I'll have the time or energy for ARK this weekend. >.< |

So today, nothing too much happened. First though, I made quite a discovery. Apparently, Beelzebufo is outclassed at being a cave mount. By what, you may ask. Well, get this. The best cave mount in the game is... Pteranodon. Yeah. If fits in most caves (Skylord cave being the only exception as far as I've tried. It can't get far into the Devourer cave either due to the water, but that's not a safe place to take a mount anyway) and it's flying ability is SUPER useful. For example, you know how annoying the Pack cave is because of all the swimming you have to do? Well, with Pteranodon, you can skip literally ALL of the swimming and just grab the artifact. And in the Massive cave you don't need to make any risky jumps that could end with a lava-baked frog, because you can just fly over everything. Funnily enough, I named my Pteranodon Apollyon before I knew they could even enter a SINGLE cave. Anyway, so, basically, I have 2 copies of 4 of the artifacts right now, with the only exceptions being the artifact of the Hunter, and the artifact of the Devourer. But Hunter's not that hard to get anyway. It's just that for the artifact of the Devourer, I'd like to have a bit of backup. After collecting all those artifacts, I went to Death Island and eventually managed to tame both a high level Sabertooth (Which I named Merlin after one of my deceased cats) and a high level Argentavis (The new Anyway, to finish the day, I basically just helped someone tame a Spino and a Beelzebufo. Cyprectus collects too much Raw Prime meat. ![]() Also, finally, after over a week of not seeing any, I FINALLY found an Alpha Carno, on Death Island to be precise. In fact, soon after killing it, ANOTHER one spawned, and it died too. |

Today was not particularly eventful. Half my time was spent just derping around with Vinnie. Though I did tame two things today. Let's talk about the second thing I tamed first, namely a level 100 Megaloceros doe. Now, I still stand by saying that the males are pretty much useless, but the does can actually come in handy. Like the Sabertooths, they seem to have the ability to chain together jumps for potentially infinite momentum, but that's not the most important part. The speed difference, although only 25%, is quite significant, turning them from a lesser Beelzebufo into a perfect pet for local transport of resources. Still not the best mount in the universe, but certainly not bad. Now, for the first thing I tamed. Basically, I was heading to the Clever cave with Merlin, when all of the sudden, I run into a green scorpion with pick-ish legs. Now, in itself that was not exactly a special occurance, however. as usual, I checked its level. And what do I find? A male, level 116, mostly Patrick colored Scorpion. Unfortunately I had no narcotics on me, so I rushed back to base, grabbed some, went back and tamed that sucker! Thanks to warpaint, his leg color has been fixed to the proper red coloration. So, there's the new and improved Patrick! But yeah, that was all. Not particularly exciting. |

Just grabbing a bite to eat/taking a break right now; hopefully I'll be on for a couple hours tonight but I might not be up to playing ARK by then. Because, in the meantime, I get to spend much of my day off from work fixing a tractor. On uneven ground. In the rain.

So, the last 2 days have been filled with quite a bit of taming. Yesterday, on my way back from a trip, I encountered a level 100+ Sarco. I tamed her, named her Megasuchus and also dyed her blue and black. I was quite impressed with her initial attack stat of 444%. So, needless to say, I decided to go on a rampage with her. But the joy did not last. During a swim through the ocean, she somehow teleported from the surface all the way to the bottom. Now that in itself wasn't a problem. However SOMEHOW she took fall damage IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OPEN OCEAN! And said fall damage ended up killing her. Glitch: 1 - Sarco: Zip. Bummed out as I was for losing such a good Sarco to a glitch like that, I decided to see if I could find a good Plesiosaur. Well, I did not. Instead, I stumbled upon a level 116 Megalodon, black with lime stripes. You bet I tamed THAT thing! Deinonator is no longer the big swimmy boy. Now make way for Mr. Meggerson! Mr. Meggerson is an absolute BEAST! Starting out with 4K HP and 484% damage, you don't even need a brain to know I went ahead and wrecked stuff with this guy. Then last of the day, while swimming around with Mr. Meggerson, I stumbled across another Sarco, an even higher level then the last, at level 116. Even better was the fact that he was stuck, so I could easily fetch Cyprectus to go Raw Prime farming with his 1.7K damage. Soon enough, I had a new Megasuchus, with a higher attack stat then the previous one, at 474% or something like that. Now onto today. First, I tamed a level 100 Dimorphodon I saw around my base and named it... nothing... I didn't have any idea what to call it. Wait. Nothing? Nobody? Yes, Nobody! Nobody is an awesome character! I guess I'm gonna name it Nobody tomorrow. Well, anyway, then I decided to go out and get a male Megaloceros because reasons. But, I did not find any. Instead I found a level 116, albino Dire Wolf. She had taken quite a beating, but after she got stuck between a tree and a rock, I had no problem waiting for her to heal. So, now I got a high level Dire Wolf named Hati. And, well, poor Merlin's gonna get shoved aside a bit for the cave-drop farming. I mean, Merlin's great, and with more durability and stuff, but Hati, being taller, has a FAAAR easier time hitting those dang bats! That alone is enough to warrant me using her instead of Merlin. And that's about it for the last 2 days. |

Well, I lost my Argent yesterday. Poor Huginn was on passive and got Sarco'd when I was taming my frog Nu. I took Munnin up north in the hopes of taming another Argent, and I logged out in the Arctic outpost. But if the Quetz is coming soon-ish, I'm just gonna come back home and wait it out because flying fortresses. In other news Project Turtle Breeding is finished-ish. I'll need to clean the area up, which I started doing yesterday (so if anyone is looking for Ganeshani she's down at the farming building). So if anyone gets on, check the ground beneath the structure for eggs please, so we can get some Brontos. Also how and where are we gonna store crops? I've stored fertilizer to at least kickstart the farming while I'm away, so minimal crop growth (i.e. one crop of each, until I get more Phiomias) will be underway starting either tonight or tomorrow morning. |
