Fleeshstar Name (of creature): Flesh Louse Height: 4 feet Length: 10 feet (including tentacles) Weight: 600 lbs Base DNA: Wood Louse, Lamprey, Sea Urchin, Inland Taipan, Common Octopus, Bottlenose Dolphin, scaly-footed gastropod, Rafflesia Abilities: Echolocate, crawl, stab, crush, invenomate, suction Weaknesses: Very slow, tentacles are soft, blind, no sense of smell, low stamina, can't swim, has trouble getting up if rolled over, mouth not particularly well armored (though it's not soft either) Defenses: Iron-enforced armor, weight, suctions to ground, can retract tentacles into mouth Special Attributes: Armor, venomous tentacle blades, echolocation, powerful crushing jaws that can bite through concrete, venom causing incredibly pain and paralysis eventually causing death after an hour or so, tentacles can be retracted very fast, incredibly strong for its size, fireproof, shock-proof, incredibly smart, smells of freshly-killed penguin Description: A woodlouse with no head or limbs, instead having a four-jawed mouth taking up its underside, with eight tentacles surrounding. LOGI Info: Flesh lice enjoy sitting doing nothing but sending out constant waves of echolocation around them, with their tentacles tucked neatly inside of themselves. While capable of crawling if they really want to, more often than not they will just sit and let a creature tire itself out trying to get through its armor, or put down its guard, at which point it will, depending on the size of the creature and if it's hungry, either slash it with its venomous tentacles and let them die, or, if the creature is considerably smaller and less dense will grab it and eat it while it's alive. During breeding, flesh lice will crawl into large clumps together, hundreds literally piled on top of each other. Males are only half the size of females, so hundreds may be suctioned to her carapace. Here they will attempt to offer her packets of sperm, which if she accepts, she will eat them male whole. She will then lay eggs in a cool, secluded area for them to hatch. As young, they are light enough in which they are capable of running on their tentacles, making even the young difficult targets. Other: Its armor is like 6 inches thick, thicker on the edges, which is why it's so heavy for its size. ![]() ------------------------------ Guinea Dilong Name: Martichor Height: 3 feet Length: 8 feet Weight: 500 lbs Base DNA: Virginia Possum, Wolverine, North American Porcupine, Lionfish, Pangolin, Mantis Shrimp, Honey Badger, Grizzly Bear Abilities: Powerful bite and claws; tail covered in shootable, venomous spines; intelligent hunter. Weaknesses: Poor sense of sight, small size, uncomfortable in hot climates Defenses: Except for its underside the Martichor is armored in pangolin scales. Between the scales, venomous quills stick out; these quills contain less venom than those on the tail and they cannot be shot. All areas not covered in scales have a thick layer of brown fur. Beneath the scales is a layer of very thick skin, which provides the Martichor with protection from both the cold and from venoms (akin to how the honey badger is protected from snake and scorpion venom by its thick skin). Further protection is afforded by the opossum DNA, which effectively neutralizes many snake venoms and poisons such as ricin and botulinum toxin that enter into the bloodstream. Martichor are very sturdy and compact creatures, with thick bones surrounded by thick skin and armor. They are very capable of shaking off blows that would easily kill or snap bones in a human. Special Attributes: The venom of the Martichor is derived from that of the lionfish, with a few select elements from that of the inland taipan. When something is punctured with the Martichor venom it will quickly begin to experience extreme pain, dizziness, and breathing difficulties. After around 5 minutes this will be followed by vomiting, convulsions and extreme muscle weakness. As well, the venom acts as an anticoagulant, meaning that wounds will not clot and the targeted creature will bleed out much quicker. The venom isn’t consistently deadly, but is always debilitating, allowing the Martichor to finish off the prey with its powerful teeth and claws. These teeth and claws are very powerful, with both coming from the Grizzly DNA. The process of how the venomous quills on the Martichor’s tail are shot involves a small set of muscles where each quill enters the skin musculature. The quills can be shot at up to 70 m/s, comparable to that of an arrow, which is accomplished through the same way that the mantis shrimp moves its arms fast enough to vaporize water around it: a latch-of-sorts holds the muscle in place until it is released. The arrows point away from the Martichor when its tail lies straight, so when it is shooting it will point its tail over its head or shoulders. Normally just one quill is shot at a time, but it is fully capable of shooting multiple ones at a time. The venom is stored in a gland at the base of the quill and flies with it when it is shot, continuing to pump venom through the hollow shaft. A few rows of stiff hairs that grow towards the back of the quill, just above where it connects with the skin, acts as fletching to give the quill a straighter path. The quills are replaced over time, and simply fall off when they get old. Description: A stocky wolverine with pangolin scales and a long, flexible tail that is arrayed with venomous quills, particularly towards its end. More quills stick out between the pangolin scales. LOGI Info: The Martichor is native to cold, snowy taigas, where it stalks over the snow, silently hunting prey. It’s preferred method of hunting is first to ambush its target with a quill shot from a distance and then, after a few minutes, rush in and suffocate the prey by biting its neck with its jaws and holding the animal down with its powerful forelimbs. They are voracious predators and will frequently target prey items much larger than they are. Martichors are solitary animals that require a vast amount of territory, which males will defend to the death in violent and drawn-out battles. A male Martichor’s territory will overlap with several females, who he will visit occasionally and breed with in the summer months. Other: Nah ------------------------- albinoraptor Name: Noepe Height: A foot Length: 10 feet Weight: 50 pounds? Base DNA: Eden rose, cone snail, cape sundew, yellow-banded millipede, gaboon viper, polar six-rayed star, Psilocybe semilanceata, sea lamprey Abilities: Due to its appearance as a plant, it has an extremely useful form of camouflage. Its tongue, like that of a cone snail, secretes toxins upon hitting a target. Weaknesses: Poor eyesight, slow until startled, not heavily armored. Defenses: Similar to starfish, the Noepe can survive being split into pieces, with each piece becoming a new Noepe after regrowing its body. Though the new Noepes need to regrow their body, the base one can survive and continue functioning. Anything attempting to make physical contact with a Noepe will find it has a large amount of unpleasant thorns. Its toxins, as well as being similar to a cone snail’s, is also a powerful hallucinogen. To ward off potential predators, the Noepe will violently rattle its leaves and flowers, expelling more of its aerosol toxins. Special Attributes: The small flowers emit an aerosol form of the cone snail’s venom. Description: An eden rose vine with millipede legs on the bottom, and covered in sundew tentacles. While the entire plant has many small rose flowers, the front has one large rose flower with sea star eye spots, which is typically closed. Upon opening, the inside of the flower is revealed to have many gaboon viper fangs and a long tongue like that of a cone snail. This tongue, too, is covered in sundew tentacles as well as sea star suckers, and a few small fangs. The tongue comes from a lamprey-like mouth. LOGI Info: Noepes, while able of ground locomotion, typically spend their time draped on tree branches in forests, waiting for unsuspecting prey to pass by. Upon spotting a suitable meal, a Noepe will launch out its tongue, which stabs into the prey, injecting its venom. Should this not be enough to kill its prey, it will wrap its tongue around it and constrict it similar to a snake. Once its prey is dead, it will then, again like a snake, digest its prey whole. For prey that it would normally not be able to digest, it will wrap its whole body around it and wait for it to be absorbed by its sundew tentacles. Some Noepes, rather than feeding similar to a snake, will attach themselves to larger creatures and feed off of them like a lamprey. It’s not uncommon to see a titan covered in rose vines. Well, my people need me. *Grabs crystal ball* Hmm, yes. The Martichor is too light. It should be at least 600 lbs. The Noepe on the other hand is a more tricky case. As there is no animal that's really comparable, I'm going to require greater detail, or better, a picture. However, just from first glance, I think it should probably be a tad heavier. |

Yeah, I thought using a snake would work too, but no 10 foot snake is also a foot tall. |

That seems pretty heavy. A pangolin scaled up to the same size would be 180 lbs and a wolverine only 162. Adding in its thick skin and bones would maybe bring it up to like 250, but 600 seems way too high. |

I thought that too but I didn't want to say anything. ![]() Also I know no snake is a foot tall at ten feet, but no snake is made of vine and has a giant flowerhead that, depending on how Alby measured it, could be that 1 ft in height and be a ft in length too or something. |

There's something off with your calculations then. The only way I get a 3 foot tall Wolverine at anywhere near 162 lbs is to take a the larger heights for the Wolverine and combine them with the lower weights. Keep in mind that there is no even considerably healthy Wolverine that would have such combination of height and weight. Keep in mind that a 3 foot tall Wolverine would be approximately the size of a dang Lion. Using a more proper figure of a 30 centimeter tall Wolverine with a weight of 10 kilograms, I get a weight of 270 kilograms for a 3 foot tall Wolverine. Convert that into pounds and we get 595 lbs. With all the stuff you added, 600 lbs is actually on the low side. Edit: @Ninja Flish: Hence why I'm gonna need more details in order to get a remotely accurate estimate. |

From looking at American black bears (not the best example but better than most considering the size matches up almost exactly with a small bear assuming this things tail is indeed long) the average weight is "between 126-551 lbs" for males. There are larger individuals over 800 lbs, but they're all either captive animals or state records. So yah, if a black bear of this size is 126 lbs, I don't think it's going to be 600 lbs. I know a wolverine is stocky, but a bear isn't much less stocky. |

I've been going off the length for my calculations. From what I can tell an 8 foot long wolverine would be about 3.4 feet tall at the shoulder, scaling from a wolverine that is 3.5 feet long and 1.5 feet tall (Wikipedia). Using the weight for an exceptionally large male (71 lbs) and scaling up to match the proportions gives a weight of 162 lbs. |

@GD: Weight is not scaled linearly. Twice the length does not mean twice the weight. The square-cube law explains this. If you take a 1 meter cube and turn it into a 10 meter cube, its surface area would be 100 times greater then the 1 meter cube. However, its volume, and thus weight, increases by 1000 times. Let me demonstrate. Lets take an African Bush Elephant and a Wolverine. Now, make the Elephant the same height as the Wolverine, and the Wolverine the size of the Elephant. Lets take an average bull Elephant, around 3.3 meters tall and 5.5 tons, and a 45 centimeter tall, 25 kilogram Wolverine. They are approximately 7.3 times taller/shorter then the other, so just divide/multiply their weight by 7.3 times. Using linear scaling, the African Bush Elephant ends up at a weight of 753 kilograms and the Wolverine at 182 kilograms. So basically, if the linear scaling you used was a valid method, A 45 centimeter tall Elephant would be over 4 times heavier then a 330 centimeter tall Wolverine. It's not hard to figure out that that is simply wrong. Using correct calculations, we end up with a much more reasonable 14 kilogram Elephant and a 9.8 ton Wolverine. As you can see, it is much, MUCH more logical. And these are the same calculations that show that a 3 foot tall Wolverine would weight 600 lbs. Also, the profile says that it has a long tail, so scaling via length is not going to produce accurate results. @Flish: Not all Black Bears are 3 feet tall. The lower weights come from smaller individuals. And smaller male Black Bears can be only a around 2 feet tall at the shoulder. Considering the fact that a 26% increase in dimensions is enough to double the weight, you can imagine that the weight difference between a 2 foot bear and a 3 foot Bear is quite big. In fact, I did the calculations. And if a 2 foot tall Black Bear is 126 lbs, a 3 foot tall one would weigh 425 lbs. |

Even large males- past the size of GD's wolverine, don't get more than 551 lbs, though, except in rare cases with particularly large individuals, at least according to Wikipedia. |

Keep in mind that a Black Bear is not a Wolverine though. Anyway, I've done some more calculations. Using the 45 centimeter tall, 25 kilogram Wolverine, I get a weight of around 440 lbs. So yeah, anything in the range of 450-600 lbs should be a reasonable weight. |
