Name (of creature): Vultureworm Height: 5 inches Length: 6 feet Weight: 45 lbs Base DNA: Sea Lamprey, Bobbitworm, Humphead Parrotfish, Turkey Vulture, Greenland Shark, trapjaw ant, griffon vulture, black piranha Abilities: Bite, scent, swim Weaknesses: Blind, soft body, not very agile swimmers Defenses: Biting, slime, speed Special Attributes: Very sharp jaws, extremely fast head and jaw movement, amazing sense of smell Description: A sea lamprey with no eyes and two sets of bobbitworm jaws. One set is horizontal like a normal bobbitworm's jaws, and the other set it vertical like a vertebrate's. It also has feelers around its jaws. LOGI Info: Vultureworms are one of the most numerous and dangerous animals in the slime swamps. While smaller than a large constrictor, Their jaws are incredibly sharp to the point a bite from one of these animals is often not felt briefly. Their sense of smell is remarkable as well, and they can easily detect an animal that shouldn't be in the water and is in distress, or a dead animal, very easily. They do not usually prey on other aquatic animals, as the vultureworm searches for animals in distress to avoid injury. It can be only moments from falling into the water for a person to be engulfed in a cloud of their own blood. Luckily, Vultureworms are skittish and shy creatures when not in a feeding frenzy, so often simply preparing to enter the water is enough to prevent a vultureworm attack. Vultureworm are suprisingly good parents. The male and female pair off in the dry season, when water levels are at their lowest. Afterwards, they will search out the nearest dead pixie bottle, where the pair will lay their eggs and guard them. Because of this dependence for breeding, competition over corpses is often quite fierce, with a pair attempting to defend their corpse from many other vultureworms. Oftentimes, the first pair of vultureworms to find a pixie bottle corpse will attempt to guard it from other vultureworms, fail, and raise thousands of eggs that aren't theirs to hatching. Once the eggs hatch, the pair separate and the young use the pixie bottle's corpse both as a food source and shelter from other animals. Other: |
