Name (of creature): Swamp Pixie Height: 7 inches Length: 7 inches Wingspan: 3 feet Weight: .5 lbs Base DNA: Sea Butterfly, Firefly squid, African Grey Parrot, Darner Dragonfly, Flamboyant Cuttlefish, Dragon Abilities: Glow, Whisper, Light Pulse, Fly, invenomate Weaknesses: Soft shell, glows, small, slow flier Defenses: Hypnotizing, Flight Special Attributes: Glows, Can create what sounds similar to whispering, Can pulse light to hypnotize prey, flies, venom Description: A sea butterfly that, instead of fins, has four dragonfly wings. Its body is entirely bioluminescent, including the parts inside its translucent shell, which at night can make it appear to simply be a glowing blue orb with wings. It has a siphon under its "head", which is wider than it is tall to create whispering noises. It has a pair of Dragonfly nymph jaws (where the venom is injected from) inside its mouth, which it can shoot out at extreme speeds, along with a normal radula. LOGI Info: Swamp Pixies are perhaps one of the most terrifying creatures in the swamp. While one of the smallest predators in the swamp, they are perhaps one of the most deadly, hunting in small flocks that dance around the swamp. They prey primarily on Cackleribbons and maggotfish, Using their pulsating lights to "hypnotize" their prey to get close enough to grab it with their powerful jaws and fatally wound it. Once one pixie has grabbed on, usually the others will follow until the prey item is overwhelmed and quickly dies of venom and flesh wounds. The pixies then scrape through the flesh with their radula until they are full. While they cannot fly if their wings are waterlogged, they rest on the water's surface often, as they are active throughout the day and night in short intervals. While not capable of hypnotizing an animal as intelligent as a human, Swamp pixies are keen on preying on humans because they are within the size range of prey that they often hunt. Swamp pixies mate by "kissing" each other like most snails, and then delicately laying multiple squid-like eggs onto the sides of a tree. It is not uncommon for swamp pixies to get stuck in the tree's sap while laying their eggs, but as no animals eat their toxic egg cases, the young are able to develop peacefully at the water line, before hatching and falling into the water to live as small, unremarkable snails very similar to regular sea butterflies, except predatory of other plankton species. Once they have grown for a few weeks, they float to the water's surface, molt their shell, and wait for their wings to dry before flying away to find a pack of swamp pixies to call their own. Swamp pixies are actually surprisingly sociable and tender with their own kind, often "playing" chase and tag. While fully capable of killing a Death's Drapes, Swamp pixies rarely venture more than twenty feet into the air because of their weight and reliance of the water for resting. Therefore, Death's Drapes are safe from predation, and, more often than not, are the ones preying on the swamp pixies. |
