Name (of creature): Clavumavis captanda (Trapping Spike Bird)

Height: 5 inches
Length: 8 inches long, with a foot long wingspan

Weight: 74 grams

Base DNA: European Shrike, Rhamphorynchus, Dimorphodon, Honey Bee, Tasmanian Devil, Star-Nosed Mole, Ploceus Velatus, Potter Wasp

Abilities: Spikeshrike are known for their collective mind, like that of colonial insects, including honeybees. This allows them to coordinate ambushes much more fluently than other predators. These birds also have the tendency to dig out small holes using the claws on their wings, about 2 feet deep and four feet wide, and conceal them using a thin layer of mud held aloft by small twigs. These hidden holes are used to break the legs of oblivious prey so that the birds can easily bring it down without the chance of retreat. The birds also have a sort of luring system, taking chunks of prey and impaling them on tree spikes, letting them rot and attract predators, which are then attacked by the swarm.

Weaknesses: Although usually a sound thing, the collective thought of the flock can easily be disoriented by very loud noises, like someone yelling into a megaphone or something else of such a volume. The mind also weakens as the swarm decreases in size, meaning as the birds begin to die off, the flock will begin to disorient. The birds are also fairly weak, depending on numbers over individual power, with brittle bones (except for their skulls) and small lungs. This will mean that the birds will tire quickly, forcing them to try and quickly incapacitate their prey before it can escape.

Defenses: Although the bird's bones are weak, the Spikeshrike has a thick skull, allowing it to take a hit or two to the head from larger creatures before cracking.

Special Attributes: The Spikeshrike swarm will tend to flock prey like collies herding sheep into a pen. But instead of pens, they push the prey into either a large thicket of thorn bushes or into one of their pitfalls.

Description:https://imgur.com/a/C192y

The Spikeshrike is similar in shape to a dimorphodon, save for its shortened tail, ending in turquoise feathers and grey pyncnofibres, which stretch across its body, as well was shortened legs. Its wings and torso are covered in dark patches, as well as its head. Male Spikeshrike have a red ornamental crest on the top of its short beak.

LOGI Info: The Clavumavis is a vicious creature for its size, attacking creatures many times larger than itself that venture too close to its roost. Usually, it is accompanied by many of its Flock members, who can be in numbers of up to 750 Spikeshrikes in one colony. Only about a tenth of these are males, who are slightly smaller than females. They are also extremely timid compared to their female counterparts, who are aggressive towards most threats, and sometimes even attacking males who get in their way. This is due to the way Spikeshrike nests are built; the mud moved when digging out pitfalls is matted together, usually using a tree as a support, and tunnels are carved out as mud is placed on it, eventually leaving a tower of mud and sticks that can stand over two meters tall. One nest was reported to be so large, the tree it was attached to was pushed over due to the weight of the mud. In these nests, the Males stay and tend to the eggs and young in multiple floors of nests, while the females go out hunting. Spikeshrike have a tendency to attack neighboring Clavumavis hives, killing males and feeding on the eggs and young before the female swarm returns. Nests tend to be located in forests near or beside a lake, where mud can easily be added if the need occurs. The birds will feed on fish, small insects, and anything that breaks its leg in the pit falls/ gets stuck in the thorn bushes. During Dry seasons, The swarms become more aggressive, making it difficult for animals to obtain water from dwindling pools when they are surrounded by the voracious Spikeshrike.

Everything looks good as far as I can see. Nice little touch with the pitfalls, BTW.

Just a quick confirmation; there are 750 members in the swarm? I might throw in an extra line in the form for that just so it's a bit easier to see and reference.

Today, I'm going to be takin' these four fine folks into the biggest, meanest dungeon in the Forgotten Realms, and I don't know if they're gonna survive.
...But I'm cool with that.
