Name: Horned Tyrant Height: 10 feet tall Length: 35 feet long Weight: 5 tons Base DNA: Daspletosaurus torosus, Dragon, Pachycephalosaurus, Stygimoloch, Dracorex, American Alligator, Komodo Dragon Abilities: Strength, speed, and stamina, sharp teeth and claws, powerful jaws, strong muscles, sharp horns, formidable cranial dome, can run at 35 MPH Weaknesses: Can’t turn very well while charging at full speed, more or less driven by instinct rather than by brains, males are excessively reckless and attack like mindless brutes during mating season, underside is unarmored Defenses: Thick scaly skin lined with osteoderms, skull lined with very durable reinforced bone, deadened sense of pain, built to withstand great impacts, strong immune system Special Attributes: Can breathe a stream of blue fire, enhanced senses, binocular vision, saliva has anti-coagulant properties that cause excessive bleeding, good swimmer Description: A typical Horned Tyrant resembles a grey Daspletosaurus with osteoderms covering its back, tail, and limbs. It has a large dome on its head like a Pachycephalosaurus. It has a series of horns surrounding its dome, with a pair of larger curved horns pointing up from the back of its head, similar to those found on Stygimoloch and Dracorex. The animal’s arms are longer than a Daspletosaurus’, and each hand ends in three claws instead of two. Males possess larger horns than females, and while females are mostly grey aside from their blue dome, males have blue bands on their limbs and tail, as well as a blue stripe down their back. There are some variations in color, with some being black, and others having blue spots. A Horned Tyrant’s eyes are golden in color. LOGI Info: Horned Tyrants live similar lives to what is believed to be the case for Daspletosaurus. They live either solitary lives, or in small groups, with the latter being somewhat more often the case. During the mating season which can last for 2 months, males become immensely aggressive, venting their anger out on damn near any living creature they see, especially other tyrannosaur or dragon-like creatures they view as potential rivals. Horned Tyrants mate for life and remain together as a monogamous pair. Females lay up to 12 eggs in a single clutch, and they and the fathers are both EXTREMELY aggressive when defending their young. They will risk their own lives if it means their offspring will survive. In combat, generally Horned Tyrants start off with a blast of their fire breath, before charging at their foe at high speeds to deliver all their weight into one crushing blow. Aside from that, they fight viciously with their weaponry, bashing and gashing with their heads, as well as slashing and tearing with their teeth and claws. Against stronger foes, Horned Tyrants will use their fire breath more and more. Horned Tyrants can be found in temperate forests and jungles, as well as occasionally mangrove swamps or mid-sized islands. They primarily hunt ceratopsian or however large horned herbivores depending on where they live, as well as large crustaceans and mid-sized marine mammals if living near the sea. Other: N/A ![]() I'm guessing this fella will cost around 1800 credits. |

Just a couple things. First, the price would actually be 1800 credits. 1200 credits is for creatures ranging from 16-30 feet. At 35 feet, the Horned Tyrant, while on the small side for a large creature, is still in the large category nonetheless. Now as for the abilities. You mention it has superhuman strength, which, while not explicitly a problem (Realistically, the vast majority of our monster have it, even if just by virtue of their size), is a very strange way of putting it. Almost makes it sound like it's supposed to be throwing around buildings. I'd recommend using different wording, but that's just me. You also mention it is amphibious, but none of its features seem to support this. Sure, I don't think it would have problems swimming, but Daspletosaurus wasn't exactly known for being a good swimmer. Sure, it has crocodilian DNA, but that won't help it swim if none of the features that make crocodilians good swimmers are translated over. Something like a ridge of osteoderms on its tail, similar to that of crocodilians, would be a good start. The speed also seems over the top. It's a 5 ton, armored behemoth that's built like a tank. I find it hard to imagine it beating 35 MPH. Last thing, I promise, but IIRC, while it's fine to put it under weaknesses, I'm pretty sure that weaknesses such as "Doesn't have armor in this spot" counts towards the minimum weaknesses to make a creature legal for the simple reason that armor isn't the standard. If the unarmored areas were covered only in weak, flimsy skin, then yes that would count, as it is below the standard of regular skin. But as it stands, it only has one true weakness. |

For a decent weakness you could say that it's rather unintelligent and instinct driven. Plenty of ways to exploit that. |

Umm, sorry but having unarmored skin has ALWAYS been considered a weakness if the rest of it is armored, DG. Unless this is a new thing as of the last year, there have been many creatures that have had this listed as a weakness. |

I know it has often been listed amongst weaknesses, but as was the case with Tyrannotank, it's not really a weakness that's been counted towards the minimum required as of lately. |

Tank's case was because it's areas that logically aren't going to be armored, and even then it was clearly allowed since its other weaknesses are "reckless" (an actual weakness) and "resistant to poison but not immune" which is objectively less than a weakness than having unarmored eyes. |

I'm pretty sure Valen Rex's main weakness is an unarmored underbelly which was allowed and that was the way it lost its battle against gurath iirc Also about the swimming thing, in the JP novel the tyrannosaurus is shown to be a decent swimmer. While you don't have tyrannosaurus in here, it could provide a swimming method for theropods without webbed feet or something. |

Well, Tyrannotank's problematic weaknesses upon the update's initial draft was also the reason why the stomach aches were brought back. That said, I don't know about the staff, but personally I would not encourage false weaknesses like "It's mostly covered in armor, but there's a few areas that are a bit less heavily reinforced" as one of the two weaknesses that qualifies the creature as legal. It's something that can definitely be mentioned under weaknesses (Because it hardly qualifies as a strength), but it beats the point of a weakness to use "not exceptionally good at this" as a qualifying weakness. One could argue that "not immune to fire" is more of a weakness, given how many creatures on the site use fire, and I don't think anyone here would use that as a legitimate weakness. @AR: I've never read the novel, but depending on how good "decent" is, that seems either anatomically implausible, or just not as good as a swimming amphibious creature would be expected to swim. |

You literally just had a creature put in the genetic study who's only weaknesses weren't even weaknesses, with all due respect you have no place to talk about "false weaknesses", nor are you in any position to be telling people something isn't allowed when it is allowed. |

Well by no means does it say that Tyrannosaurus was aquatic, just that it could swim despite lack of adaptions to do so. IIRC it was supposed to swim similar to a crocodile or something, then again I haven't read it in years so I don't remember very much. Though I do agree that it's not a way amphibious creatures would swim, I'm just staying that it's not like it would be unable to swim. |

Oceadracodeus? Well I'll agree that the limited distance of its light isn't a very strong weakness, but it's a deep water creature that is still reliant on sight. If it hung out more in light filled areas, then yes, that would definitely not be a proper weakness. But a weakness, from the way I understand it, is a general issue that that the monster has, not one that will always be exploitable, and sometimes can even benefit the monster, depending not he specific weakness. And it's other weakness, I don't see how "Lacks any dedicated weaponry" is not a fully fledged weakness when it pretty much completely shuts it out of fighting anything that even approaches its own size. Also note that I never explicitly stated that having less armored areas used as a qualifying weakness was a problem. I said that I recalled it being a problem, and that I myself am against using it as a qualifying weakness. |

Having no weapons is only a weakness if having weaker armor in certain areas is. your Pterosaur still has a giant spear on its face and very large fins, it's not defenseless any more than a sauropod is. |

I don't see the logic behind this statement. We're not even talking about a complete lack of armor (Which still isn't a weakness if you ask me. There's plenty of battle competent monsters that both lack armor and also don't rely on some gimmick, or a big size advantage to beat their opponents, like Cyprectus). Weapons, however, are pretty crucial to making a good monster. You can have all the defense in the world, but a creature without any good offenses is unlikely to ever actually kill it's opponent unless it has something like a severe size advantage. Oceadracodeus doesn't have any effective ways of killing anything of a similar size. It's beak is far more bulky and less pointy than that of a Hatzegopteryx and its fins, well those aren't going to deal a whole lot of damage to another titan, certainly not as much as a massive thagomizer or some titanic horns. Oceadracodeus is not defenseless just because it's a 400 tonne giant Make it something like 4 tons and all of the sudden its seafood. You wouldn't make a sauropod creature without any additional offensive capabilities and expect it to be good in its size tier either, not unless you gave it some really good features in other areas to make up for its lack of offensive presence. Basically, the difference is that a creature without weapons can do little to deal serious damage to an opponent of similar size, while an unarmored creature is still capable of taking a few hits from such a creature, potentially even a fair amount depending on how bulky and/or sturdy it is (Again, I would like to point you to the likes of Cyprectus and Kreafourio), And remember, we're not talking about creatures that are completely unarmored when it comes to this weakness, but rather creatures that merely have chinks in their armor, which is something that literally every armored creature possesses to some extent, unless we start making living statues. Think of it this way. Imagine being given a suit of plate armor, but the helmet was missing. You'd still be a lot better off fighting in the armor, but without a helmet, than going in with no armor at all, as you are still significantly reducing the areas of your body where a strike would actually be effective. |
