Name (of creature): Heikani Titanshell Height: 70 ft Width: 20 ft Weight: 110 tons Base DNA: Horned ghost crab, Japanese spider crab, Brontomerus, Galapagos giant tortoise, Carpenter ant, Jellyfish, Crown of Thorns Starfish, Hermit crab, Giant pacific octopus, Pitcher plant, Venus fly trap, Bamboo, Australopithecus Abilities: Incredible stamina, decent turn speed for size and weight, combination inner skeleton and exoskeleton, spine is thick and fused together to help support the weight, large pair of crab claws for fighting, sheer weight can crush near anything that fits beneath its foot, can regenerate lost or damaged body parts. Weaknesses: Very slow moving. Similar to tortoises, the Heikani Titanshell has difficulty standing back up if it is knocked over, though it certainly can with a combination of its feeder and fighting arms. If the main shell is breached and a creature eats away at its insides, it will die outright. Defenses: Dannouran Yureels, huge size, crustacean armour, under coral is a hard spiral shell that protects back-up organs, immune to most fish and snake venom/poison, due to back up organs most internal damage (besides broken bones/support structures) on the torso is ignored. Special Attributes: Heikani Titanshells have back-up organs fitted in their upper shells, which can replace any non-working organs in the chest cavity. This can lead to the Heikani Titanshell to remain alive even after its entire torso is destroyed and devoured. It can even feed in this state, opening multiple mouths along the surface of its shell that eat fish attracted by the prospect of a safe cave to live in. Since it's shell is a miniature ecosystem, it can self-sustain itself until it manages to regenerate the torso and feeding limbs over the course of a year or two. Description: A hulking, squat figure with a head vaguely resembling a snarling horned face. It's legs are titanically thick and muscular, and end in enormous clawed feet. It has two large, dangerous crab arms for defending itself and two enormous Japanese spider crab arms sprouting from its shell for feeding. It carries a shell on its back made half again taller than its torso due to the amount of coral it regularly will transplant onto its back. A row of holes, mostly disguised by coral, travel down either side of the shell; its feeding 'mouths'. Usually at least three are occupied by Dannouran Yureels. A row of long carapace plates supported by connecting tissue hang around the outside of its legs. ![]() LOGI Info: Heikani Titanshells can be found slowly wandering the deeps of Genome's oceans and the Garden of Kronos, usually followed by an entourage of fish. They are solitary scavengers, forever wandering in search of fallen carcasses that they tear apart with their main claws and delicately place in their ever-open maw by their feeding claws. They are an important part of Genome's ecosystem, often found cleaning up the mess of aquatic battles or fallen Titanic creature corpses. As Heikani Titanshells grow in size, they begin extracting coral species from reefs they come across in their travels, planting them on the slightly spongey coating on the exterior of their main shell. This helps to attract fish and begin its own ecosystem, effectively giving it a sustainable, if somewhat sparse, food supply. They also begin an ambient collection of polyps from the water around them as they grow in size and age, forming vast colonies on their shell. When confronted with a threat, the Heikani Titanshell will hold its ground and brace itself against attacks it is aware of, trying as best it can to turn towards the attack before bracing. Between it's immense weight, wide stance and clawed feet, it is very hard to knock over this monster when it is aware of a threat. In combat, the Heikani Titanshell attempts to crush its foes with its immense fighting claws, using its sheer weight to overpower most foes. The Heikani can potentially live for over 300 years. Studies have not yet found one that has died of natural causes, but older specimens are practically rooted to the ground through the sheer weight of their shell's growth, forming titanic living ecosystems that can no longer move their fighting claws, instead relying on their feeding claws to grab carcasses that die near it and its feeding 'mouths'. Heikani Titanshells do not reproduce sexually, instead releasing thousands of eggs into the ocean when their torsos are torn apart in battle. The majority of these offspring do not grow to asexual maturity, more often than not eaten at a young age. Those that do grow to such size join the other titanic crab-beasts that slowly stride across oceans in search of their next meal. Other: Name and design based on the Japanese myth of heikegani crabs, who were said to hold the reincarnated spirits of vengeful samurai Need new monster? Why not Zoidberg, homeowner? WHOOP OP OP OP OP WOP WOP NYUK NYUK NYUK ((Also this is probably the biggest drawing I've done yet, took me over 5 hours to complete. I never want to draw coral again.)) ---------- Name (of creature): Dannouran Yureel # in Pack: 3 Height: 0.8 ft, fins extend two feet from its body. Length: 8 ft Weight: 200 lbs Base DNA: Ghost Eel, Lionfish, Copperhead, Wolf Eel, Moray Eel, Glass Lizard, Army Ants, Sea Otter, Carnotaurus, Beta Fish, Glass Fish, Pufferfish Abilities: Venomous bite, venomous fins, agility, strong sense of hearing and smell Weaknesses: Protected only by skin, rather small in comparison to most creatures it attacks, weak sense of sight, Defenses: Heikani Titanshell, venom, toxic flesh will cause vomiting if ingested Special Attributes: The Dannouran Yureel has the same toxin in its mouth as in its spines, a brew of snake and lionfish venom that is toxic enough to kill small creatures and daze creatures the size of their partner. Symptoms include nausea, dizziness, muscle weakness, and necrosis around bite/sting. Quite intelligent for a fish, has minor problem solving skills and enough intelligence to care for the Heikani Titanshell when it becomes injured. Description: A ghost eel with the head of a carnotaurus. Long black lionfish spines extend in a halo around its upper head, which it can fold backwards to get into tight spaces. It has tiny, useless Carnotaurus arms sticking out from its sides. It's fins aesthetically resemble those of Beta fish, turning from opaque at the base to near-translucent at the tips. ![]() LOGI Info: The Dannouran Yureel lives out its entire life in and around the Heikani Titanshell. Rarely does a Heikani Titanshell have less than 3 Yureels living within it. They live within the coral on the Titanshell's back and in the feeding 'mouths' of its shell, coming out to feed and to defend the Titanshell. Their small size and venom compliment the Titanshell's sheer power. With their oddly high intelligence they calculate where best to strike to deal the most amount of damage. In times of sparse food, the Dannouran Yureel will leave the Heikani Titanshell and hunt for food, catching fish, crustaceans and sometimes larger creatures such as dolphins and sharks. When they do kill such a large creature or happen to find a carcass large enough to feed it, they attract the the Titanshell by swimming over to it, releasing pheromones, and swimming to the carcass, with the Titanshell lumbering slowly after it. If they are forced to feed the Titanshell in order for it to regenerate, they kill creatures around the size of sharks with their venom and tear them into portable chunks of meat, which they then carry back and feed to the Titanshell. During combat with most foes, the Yureel rest comfortably inside the 'mouths' of the Titanshell, quietly observing it defending itself. However, if the fight begins going poorly and the Titanshell is in danger of being dealt enough damage to no longer travel, the Yureels emerge and begin to attack, mostly trying to strike the creature in soft spots with one of its many spines, or if it has enough room biting down and tearing chunks out of soft tissue. In the event that a Yureel ends up dying, one of the living Yureels lays an egg containing a perfect copy of itself on the Titanshell, which it then guards from the other denizens of the Titanshell. The newly hatched guardian ghost eel follows its 'mother' until it is of a large enough size to fend for itself. Other: Name based on Yūrei, the Japanese version of a ghost. |

Great concept and design, SD. "Asexual maturity" is a nice touch. Also, is there any part of the Yureels that isn't poisonous? I can imagine people being specially trained to prepare them for eating by cutting out all the toxic parts, to make a Genomian version of fugu. |

Well actually they're not nearly as posonous as, say, a pufferfish or a lionfish, so I suppose it would be possible to eat its body without too much issue. I'm sure you'd need to have someone prepare it well in advance, however. |

Only thing I'd say is that you should probably throw in Australopithecus DNA to justify the Titanshells' posture. Otherwise though I'd be happy to approve it. |
