Name: Spindlewalker

Height: 9 feet tall when limbs are fully extended.

Length: 5 feet long

Weight: averages around 85 pounds

Base DNA: Epidendrosaurus, Jumping Spider, Inland Taipan, Harvestman, Lyrebird, Howler Monkey, Horse, Jackson’s Chameleon, Anurognathus

Abilities: To lure prey, the Spindlewalker can mimic the calls of various animals, learned during its adolescent stages, If forced into a situation where it cannot maneuver, the creature can let loose a deafening howl, reaching up to a painful 215 decibels. To finish larger prey, the Spindlewalker will extend four fangs (two on its top jaw, and two on its bottom) into the target animal, injecting it with a highly potent neurotoxin that takes full effect within thirty minutes. Within a minute of the bite, distortion of vision and hearing, alongside with hallucinations, will begin to afflict the animal, making sure it is less a harm to the Spindlewalker.

Weaknesses: While being fast and flexible, Spindlewalkers are exceptionally prone to broken limbs and bones due to their avian bone structure and extended finger bones. While they can leap great distances, it can lead to broken legs if precautions are not taken. Spindlewalkers are also not armored in the slightest, leading to them being more prone to light injuries.

Defenses: The Spindlewalker’s only defense is its agility. With large lungs capable of holding large amounts of air, the Spindlewalker can move great distances In relatively short periods of time. The fastest recorded speed of a Spindlewalker has been clocked at 36 km/hr, allowing it speed while moving through the tree tops.

Special Attributes: Spindlewalkers are masters of acrobatic movements, using their many ‘legs’ to move fluently through their jungle habitats, easily outmaneuvering predators and prey. The creatures are also excellent jumpers, with tests showing that without obstacles, an adult spindlewalker is able of bounding up to 45 feet in any given direction, pouncing upon any unsuspecting prey with quickness.

Description: The Spindlewalker appears like the body of an Anurognathus, but missing both back legs while also gaining an extended neck and shortened beak, with four snake-like fangs, two on top, two on bottom. Its wings, now given five fingers for each hand, are now one with the body, the fingers extending around 6 feet, and for all intents and purposes, act as independent limbs. There is slight webbing between each finger, and connects to the tail, which is covered in long pycnofibers, which also run variably across its back. Its eyes are a cold yellow, constantly moving apart from one another. A small throat sac hangs from its neck, and is the source of its booming calls. The creature’s coloration, while varying between subjects, is always a spectrum between drab greys, browns, and greens.

LOGI Info: A rather reclusive denizen of any tropical region, the Spindlewalker is a threat from any direction. While mainly known to attack prey from the treetops, ambushes can also occur during the few moments the creature is on the ground. The life of a Spindlewalker is a difficult one, with the parents abandoning the hatchlings as soon as they are able to climb. For the majority of their adolescent life, they speed through the canopy, feeding mainly on small flying creatures, and learning to imitate the calls of other creatures. Adult specimens, always moving alone, display different hunting tactics. Spindlewalkers will hang motionlessly from low-hanging branches, looking like a mess of gnarled vines. There, they will begin to call out with distress calls of small ground-dwelling creatures, in an attempt to draw in a predator or scavenger. When a creature attracted by the call comes within a certain range, the Spindlewalker will strike, wrapping its legs around the creature, and biting it with its fangs, before attempting to retreat to a safer location in the treetops. For smaller creatures, the retreat into the trees will not occur, with the Spindlewalker continuously attempting to bite the prey further.

Other: I really wanted to do something with hands, then I thought about spiders. This is the outcome.
