Name: Swinex Height: 16 ft. Length: 38 ft. + 8 ft. tusks, reaching 4 ft. past the snout. Weight: 7 US tons. Base DNA: Babirusa, Common Impala, Red Kangaroo, Sumatran Tiger; Allosaurus fragilis, Daeodon shoshonensis, Heterodontosaurus tucki, Iguanodon bernissartensis, Zygolophodon borsoni Abilities: The Swinex tends to employ a charging and goring method of attack, but is also capable of hopping up and kicking out with its powerful hind legs. If their target is within reach, they will also employ their sharp hand claws to tear into flesh. They are also known to be quite strong, reaching levels of strength similar to elephants. Weaknesses: Swinex have poor eyesight, not just in visual acuity, but in depth perception as well. They are also quick to balk at the smell of smoke, and have a general fear of fire. If a Swinex is flipped on its back, it has difficulty righting itself. Defenses: The Swinex possesses a toughened hide on its head, neck, forearms, underside, calves, and feet amalgamated from the hides of its dinosaurian stock. They also may use their large tusks and horns to defend themselves. Special Attributes: While Swinex have poor eyesight, their sense of smell is quite powerful, hailing from their respective porcine genetic codes. When the Swinex is severely injured, it goes into an enhanced state of fight or flight, which also owes its intensity from the Babirusa and Daeodon genetic code. Description: The Swinex looks overall like a cross between a theropod and a kangaroo, with a large boar's head, from which protrudes two sets of sharp tusks. One eight feet long and coming forward from the upper palate with a slight upward curve, the second being just two feet long and coming up and out through the roof of the palate at a near forty-five degree angle from the snout. From the top of the beast's head grow a pair of large, curled horns like those of an impala, growing apart from each other in an up-and-back direction, under which sprout a pair of large, floppy antelope ears. The majority of the beast's body is covered in a dense layer of coarse black fur, with the forearms, forefeet, underside, and calves of the beast exposed, revealing a tough, leathery hide, white the beast's head and neck are mostly exposed, there is some fur that fades up the back of the head, around and over the ears, and between the horns, and some that form a thick tuft under the necks of males that resembles a moose's wattle. The fur at the tip of the tail is longer, and coarse, spreading out into a noticeably different tuft, resembling that of a boar's tail. There is also a fringe of fur on the backs of the beast's hind feet. The Swinex has only three digits on both the front and hind feet, which are tipped in sharp, hoof-like claws. Due to its amalgam of genetics, the Swinex can both pronate and supinate its wrists, allowing it to stand or rest on all-fours. LOGI Info: The Swinex is a territorial carnivore, dwelling in open plains and savannahs, where it hops along, primarily scavenging for previously-made kills. However, a Swinex will go hunting for fresh prey if it cannot find any to scavenge from. Solitary by nature, these beasts only come together to fight for territory, and in the breeding season to fight for the right to mate. Other: This bacon's got bite, but maybe it'd taste good with some curry and rice...

Good luck. I'm not sure what the ruling is on fear-based weaknesses, but I'm fairly certain every single animal would be afraid of fire to some degree. |

Well, generally when an animal is fleeing, it is focused on just that. A fleeing animal can be much easier to bring down, since their offensive capabilities are generally forward-faced, or being foregone in favor of just trying to get away. The poor eyesight of the Swinex means that even something like a bright orange flower flittering about in the breeze, possibly even just a log painted orange, accompanied with the smell of smoke could make them balk and flee.

I will agree that the fear of fire is on the flimsy side as a weakness, but it is exploitable. Ultimately the weaknesses are there to help ensure that there are ways a creature can be overcome and defeated, but they also don't necessarily dictate the only ways a creature can be killed. If Swinex was some heavily armored and/or nearly unkillable creature, then merely being fearful of fire wouldn't fly. But from what I'm seeing, a good strong bite, crush, or general bashing could still take it down, among other possibilities.

Indeed. Its hide merely makes it resistant to slashing and piercing varieties of damage, but a strong enough beast, or one with sharp enough implements shouldn't find a problem with it. Though I'd say the fear of fire is a deeper weakness than assumed. While a typical animal might avoid fire, Swinex here outright balks and flees on the spot 100% of the time. But I'll add that it is slow to right itself if flipped on its back. |
