continuing from Deads thread and thought this might be a good thread to debate over

Celtics have improved but with that lineup there should be no reason you shouldnt beat the hawks - im not saying hawks will get swept but to me they havent looked like a true playoff team yet (even tho they do well each year) it gets shut down pretty fast

My top teams::
1) Lakers - they have the best player on the planet...nuff said
2) Celtics - as trapt said their role players are improving, but the Lakers have improved just as much if not betta
3) Orlando - once again a very quiet team and losing Turk hurks but maybe a revived Vince will can do something come playoff time
4) Denver - you have to think that this team is going to turn it on at some point, Melo is probably the smoothest all around scorer in the league next to Kobe and they have some damn good key players as well as a good bench, Lakers biggest threat imo.
5) San Antonio - always a playoff team and are always pretty quiet, kinda like Orlando. they will be dangerous come playoff time. Papa is the most underrated coach in the NBA.

Teams that could take over #5 - Atlanta (they need a dominate big man) Cleveland ( their record is ALWAYS foolish , get ready for another Lebron James choke in the playoffs ) Dallas - a heathly Dallas could be scary, i see them switch back n forth in my 5th spot

My sleeper teams:
yes its early, but my 2 sleep teams that i believe might make a tough playoff series (note they are not included in the above because Atlanta could be one but they are better than a "sleeper" team)

Eastern Conference :
this was tough because after the top 4 teams in the East there really isnt anyone i can see winning long series with top teams but i would say Toronto only because they seem like a more all aruond team, and Dwade would have to carry the Heat everygame. only way Miami moves on is if they can somehow get J ONeal back and healthy...

Western Conference :
NO is falling off the map, Utahs struggn, Oklah is in the 8th seed (wtf? congrats to Durant tho), but id have to give the sleeper award to Portland. Odens out but he was never really the dominating player everyone thought he would be. They are still dangerous and can get hot at any point in the game. I do believe Houston will fall by the end of the Season and Utah will sneak into the playoffs tho.

DISCUSS

PS: Im really only doing this because a) its a good discussion lol b) theres over 1 n half feet of snow where i am (all came this week) so pretty much most of the roads around here are unplowed and everything is closed :(

tmacs done, would only hurt the celts, isnt the same player that he was in lando but oh well . . . i cant believe celts dont pick up Bill Walker who was Beasleys teammate in college... if they havent by now they need to because he drops like 28 a game in the D league

You say that the Hawks need a dominant big man, but I believe Horford is a great aspect of their team. He runs, rebounds, blocks, and can score when needed. The whole idea of an nba center has changed. More and more we see less dominant big guys and more smaller, athletic, faster, players who can both post up and shoot at a high percentage from the 3point line. I agree that the Hawk's are defiantly a sleeper and that the Cavs will choke once again. I still feel that they are a one man show with a weak bench. As for the west coast, the nuggets should be a contender as long as they get their team back healthy. The Mavs have been rolling through teams this season and might pose as a possible threat. However, they always seem to drop short in the second round.

i agree, unfortunately injuries ruined his career. I just thought it was funny that they mentioned him. As for Bill Walker, the Celtics did bring him up he just doesn't play much. if the celtics can pickup another solid veteran (a guard would be nice) who will help them off the bench in the post season then i think they will be in the finals for sure.

i completely agree but my opinion on the hawks is that Horfords a good player, yes, but in my opinion, feel free to disagree lol, is that he is to small to be playing center at 6'10...Marvin Williams has started improving very nicely but to put him in the starting lineup and move josh smith to a PF is a team that is like the Villinova team a few years ago, their starting 5 sometimes consisted of 3 to 4 guards. I think hawks could be one of the best teams if they had a lineup like

1) Bibby
2) Joe Johnson with Jamal Crawford after him - wow thats dangerous
3) Josh Smith with Marvin Williams - this 1,2,3 could possible be the best wing players in the league
4) Horford - he just seems like he would fit this role nicely
5) they dont have anyone i see but say if they found a player like Marcus Camby or an Al Jefferson or even a Kevin Love, a type of player like those i think they would be unstoppable

if they had Al, i would probably just give up and let them storm through everyone. I miss having big al on the celtics. He has such a good touch around the rim but lacks defensively. Great player though, that is when he is healthy.

you might as well hand them a noose because you kno they are gonna choke. Oh and you can have delonte, he is a bipolar headcase who will go on these horrible streaks of just being terrible. celtics playing hawks now, tune in for a good game.

Last year the Nuggets should have been able to beat the Lakers and I think this year they can. I'm predicting a Celtics - Nuggest Finals because the Celtics are dominating the East which they easily should be and the Nuggest probably have the most well-rounded starting 5 with the best bench player in the NBA, J.R. Smith, those are my thoughts right now.

Nuggets Starting Lineup:

Chauncy Billups - Easily one of the top 10 gaurds in the league
Nene and Kenyon Martin - two well above average bigmen
Carmelo Anthony - 3rd or 4th best scorer in the league
J.R. Smith - i forgot he starts sometimes now right they lost that other guy dahntay jones i believe

Also Ty Lawson is pretty good.

PG- Derek Fischer - 4 rings
SG- Kobe Bryant - 4 rings - past NBA MVP - Next closest player to MJ
SF- Ron Artest - none - past defense player of the year
PF- Lamar Odom - probably one of the best all around bigmen - 1 ring
C- Andrew Bynum - still has work but is playing excellent - almost getting to a consistent double double a night - 1 ring

Pau Gasol another solid 17 and 12 and will be greatback in the starting lineup

Lakeshow also have one of the best benches as well

EDIT : Speaking of the Nuggets they are exposing Cavs weekness on ESPN (lack of a dominating bigman)

Cav's choked in the playoff's due to lack of effort and teamwork, Lebron lead that team as far as he could last year. Cav's are new & improved this year though.
